Im a casual MK1 player and still love it and love watching competitive play (mainly Rip's and Kolo for online), then any offline tourneys. Its just fun to watch, and the game itself looks great and is still fun to play at a casual level. I have no interest in Tekken or SF. MK still remains my favorite fighting game franchise
I’m a fighting game fan, I own from the new titles SF6, MK 1, Tekken8 and including the newest of the King of Fighters and I repeat after you, I’m more an MK guy for most part, from the fighting games it’s the one I played the most and that I’m more into and MK 1 it’s the one I purchase more things from the shop. While SF6 and Tekken8 I only bought a few things from their shop. MK all the way here. Now as For watching tournaments I check them out whenever I see some videos pop up when I open RUclips I check them out. Most recently I watched a clip from Sikander competing in Rips Arena. Anyhow, I know more pro players names from MK scene than Sf and Tekken. For MK 1 I have almost 1K hours into it, while SF6 and Tekken8 like 100 or so hours. That should show and say which one I play the most.

Never have issues going into Towers/Invasions/Online Vs/Ranked. I always have fun with the game itself
Honestly these tournament organizers need to take a big risk to keep this year interesting. Virtua Fighter 5 is about to drop on the 27th and it's going to be the freshest thing in the FGC for this first quarter. We really deserve to have a Virtua Fighter 5 event even if the game is untested. There's a minor risk of launch issues but it would be worth it to have a cutting edge lineup.
I love MK1. I hate how the community has more fun trashing it than playing it. Most other fgc communities just abstain when they dont like a game. The MK community literally THRIVES on telling people their game sucks.
I'm with honeybee, i'm just gonna stay off social media and play mk1. The constant dumping is so old, ya'll do it to every game and just regurgitate what you see some pro player or RUclipsr say. MK11 was so hated and so many people I talked to said it was the worst MK game ever, they weren't buying anything from NRS, yadayada. MK1 comes around, the complaints regarding the content and unfinished aspects of the game are valid complaints. Everything else is personal preference like with kameos. Ya'll dont want to remember or admit it, but MKX was hated back in its prime too with armored launchers, alien doing stacking DOT, quan doing unblockables, everyone picking tremor or that tournament that was full of Tanyas. The NRS community will just never be pleased so I'm just gonna enjoy the game.
MKXL Patch is always ignored. When talking about MKXL people bring up MKX and armored launchers. All the BS was addressed and is still the best Mk game
@@just_2swift I only mention it because it really wasn't as well received until that patch; it was dumped on just like every NRS game at the time of release so I'm not ignoring the XL patch. It's good now.
@MistaP13 That only gets you so far when it comes to being respected in a competitive scene Also don’t ignore more than half of the gear pieces were practically invisible in game and didn’t do diddly squat for making a better design for your character, let them flesh out the aspects per costume with one item getting more attention so it can jive better and make a cooler design
@ Making a game for the competitive scene isn’t smart! There are far more casuals playing games than pros. It’s a business at the end of the day and WB/NRS have had some horrible business practices hence the game not doing so hot.

I get matches quick in less than 10 seconds each time I finish my sets in Kombat league and it’s always different people. Sometimes I run into people I fought before but not back to back, maybe like a day after or something and recently 1 time I ran into same guy I beat on next match opponent. But it’s not common. I always get new matches quick without a problem against console players and PC players.

I'm a big fan of mk but we have to accept the fact that mk1 is dead I won't say the franchise is dead but this particular game is dead no argument and it being in evo doesn't change the fact that it did poorly compared to other new generations fighting games
If failure why is it at EVO then and not something better like Dragon Ball Fighterz or Sparkling Zero!? Even KOFXV was not in the cards for EVO and it's been replace by a game that's not even out yet LMAO.
Spambat? The only reason everyone is spamming against you is because you are playing at a low level and proving that you can’t handle spamming. It is very easy to counter spamming and then they will stop. Also MK1 is one of the least spammy games out there because zoning isn’t that good due to small maps and only like 3 zoning characters (none of which are very good).
@@EatWithBadlands It depends on what they mean by spamming. If they’re talking about zoning, then yeah low level. The zoning is horrible in this game. Not hard to get in whatsoever. But if they’re talking about other stuff like kameo moves and mixups then that’s different. You can’t do anything about that. Unsafe move into kameo has been a thing since the game dropped. For example Johnny and Kano. Johnny can do literally anything he wants to do when Kano knives come out. Your best option is to trade with an uppercut if he shadow kicks. Literally no other option. Low risk, high reward situation for the Johnny player. And mixups. There’s no way to get out of mix. You aren’t zoning anyone, and you aren’t discouraging mix with punishes because many mixes are safe. So every matchup in the game boils down to who can guess right more times between overhead and low, or hard to blockables.
@ I think unsafe move into kameo is definitely the dumbest thing in the game but they have done a lot to nerf some of that stuff over the game’s lifespan (Cyrax & Striker especially). The Kano thing is annoying but I don’t face too many Kanos. The main culprit rn is Sektor for sure. Overall I still enjoy the game quite a bit tho, you just have to block longer than I’d like during that stuff and be careful trying to punish things if you see the kameo coming. I think what they did with Cyrax was perfect. Make the cooldown on that stuff way longer so that you’d only really use it to close out a round and then buff other things those Kameos do to keep them relevant.
@ I get where you’re coming from. I don’t play the game as much as I did MK11 but it’s an okay game. I wouldn’t say I hate it or anything. I just wish they built on MK11 instead of overhauling it. Certain mechanics ruined MK11, but the rest of the game was very polished and skill-based. MK1 reminds me more of competitive Madden ironically. Where it comes down to who can find the most broken meta rather than deep strategy. Madden is notorious for the highest level players running the same play for an entire game. You would think the highest players are calling plays like NFL coaches and reading defenses like NFL quarterbacks but it’s the completed opposite. I see the similarities in MK1, where there’s always some broken meta that can be rinsed and repeated and none of the counters to it really beat it bad enough to stop the spamming of it. Baraka Cyrax was one of the earliest metas like this. It didn’t matter what you did to counter it, even if you were successful, you could never really counter it strong enough to force the baraka player to think and strategize about when they were going to go into their mid, cancel into their unsafe launcher, and cover it with Cyrax. Literally nothing made them have to think.
What i really dont understand is people hating on mk1 when its quite clear that the roster is superb the gameplay is great , yeah the custimization and singe player is lackluster in conparison to mk11 and previous titles but woild you really rather play the shitty 3 hit combos of mk11 again ?, is customization more important than gameplay , am i missing something tho because street fighter 6 is apparently perfect yet they charge you for skin packs and theres only 3 skins in the game and they arent free hahahaa like wtf , why does sf6 get a free pass. Probably have the lowest amount of entrants sadly unless the Conan patch adds so much to the game. A back roll from mkx on soft knockdowns an actual speed boost to the game. No way should this game be slower than mk11 and definitely mkx. Special moves should be special cancelled or add more juggle opportunities to landing them
@@irvingp6859 more strings but they have to be good. In all mk games people use the same four or 5. It depends on how useful they really are. You wouldn’t need more strings if special moves did more than hard knockdowns or you could cancel one into the other one time during a combo
I don't understand the statement "mk1 is slower than MK11", wave dashing is easier, there are more ways to get in, the combos do more damage and aren't tied to KBs. I have had some of my fastest games in MK1 because of mixups and how much damage the combos do.
@ you ever do any of the combo strings? They’re slower. Speed of the game goes beyond just walking and dashing. Mind you they only add dash blocking when people cried about it and it even isnt easier than mvc3. Kitana 2412 string is one of the slowest strings I’ve ever seen. When you got people like Maximillian saying mk11 is faster it’s a problem. Look at how many gaps sub zero has, a slow game doesn’t have so many gaps like that

Inflation is a good point but still so we can't hate a game we paid for because pros don't won't to hear it maybe it's there fault for going against the casual player but love is subjective I suppose .but they are not the main consumer and being the best doesn't give you preserdent over anyone there just louder

So Waz not playing MK1 doesnt' really mean anything apart from the fact that he personally is not having fun with it.

well in Super's case it is just a case of chickens coming home to roost because he keeps making videos periodically about "the state of Mk1" and how the game is not good. So of course, people are going to get turned off after a while because they don't want to watch content on a game which they are constantly being told is trash.
Mortal kombat 1 has a low player count, i dont think it has to be some dramatic thing. I dont think it helps the game that most people who play it just bitch endlessly about it, but its not going to change. I doubt theres a Kombat pack 3, even if there is it wont revive the game because the player count isnt low due to the game, the player count is low due to the narrative. Its sort of like, believing that all of the problems in your life are caused by immigrants you've never been within 200 miles of. When a narrative takes hold on twitter and tiktok thats it, and you simply have to wait for the narrative to be forgotten. The narrative about MK1 is that its trash, period. It doesnt matter what the truth is, it matters what people believe. I will play it if i enjoy it, and stop when i don't, and the best we can do is hope for a better initial launch to the next MK because the narrative about the game will be set in about 15 seconds by whatever popular streamers say about it day 1, just like Marvel Rivals, just like every other game. Obviously theyre never going to touch kameos again, which is a little sad, but hopefully the next game is a little bit easier for dumb people to engage with so the general public has more reasons to play it.
@themaster804 to us, sure. but giant corporations don't think like that. It's literally one-third as successful as the last entry. I'm not good enough at math to know how much, but if they were expecting it to perform anywhere near as good as the last game that's 10s of millions of dollars that were expected but never came. It's insane, but that counts as failure in the eyes of a board of directors, and that's why everyone believes there won't be a kombat pack 3. And like i said, it doesn't really matter what the truth is. Unfortunately, the general sentiment around the game is negative. I think what I said came off harsher than I meant, but I just hope the next game has a better launch because, if we were to assume a pattern, selling one-third of the previous entry means the next game would sell 2 million. I don't think that's going to happen, but as someone who loves Halo, it's pretty scary to think another supermassive game can and has faded into obscurity quicker than anyone would've thought possible.

They got it somehow right with the last mkxl patch. They should buiild upon that, but they decided to do a 180 and made the mk11 slopfest.

@@irvingp6859 more strings but they have to be good. In all mk games people use the same four or 5. It depends on how useful they really are. You wouldn’t need more strings if special moves did more than hard knockdowns or you could cancel one into the other one time during a combo
I don't understand the statement "mk1 is slower than MK11", wave dashing is easier, there are more ways to get in, the combos do more damage and aren't tied to KBs. I have had some of my fastest games in MK1 because of mixups and how much damage the combos do.
@ you ever do any of the combo strings? They’re slower. Speed of the game goes beyond just walking and dashing. Mind you they only add dash blocking when people cried about it and it even isnt easier than mvc3. Kitana 2412 string is one of the slowest strings I’ve ever seen. When you got people like Maximillian saying mk11 is faster it’s a problem. Look at how many gaps sub zero has, a slow game doesn’t have so many gaps like that

Inflation is a good point but still so we can't hate a game we paid for because pros don't won't to hear it maybe it's there fault for going against the casual player but love is subjective I suppose .but they are not the main consumer and being the best doesn't give you preserdent over anyone there just louder

maybe he's burned out on the game and the constant negativity from the community really doesn't help from a streaming perspective. Also it is completely valid to be burned out on a game. So Waz not playing MK1 doesnt' really mean anything apart from the fact that he personally is not having fun with it.

well in Super's case it is just a case of chickens coming home to roost because he keeps making videos periodically about "the state of Mk1" and how the game is not good. Mortal kombat 1 has a low player count, i dont think it has to be some dramatic thing. I dont think it helps the game that most people who play it just bitch endlessly about it, but its not going to change. I doubt theres a Kombat pack 3, even if there is it wont revive the game because the player count isnt low due to the game, the player count is low due to the narrative.
Its sort of like, believing that all of the problems in your life are caused by immigrants you've never been within 200 miles of. When a narrative takes hold on twitter and tiktok thats it, and you simply have to wait for the narrative to be forgotten. The narrative about MK1 is that its trash, period. It doesnt matter what the truth is, it matters what people believe. I will play it if i enjoy it, and stop when i don't, and the best we can do is hope for a better initial launch to the next MK because the narrative about the game will be set in about 15 seconds by whatever popular streamers say about it day 1, just like Marvel Rivals, just like every other game. Obviously theyre never going to touch kameos again, which is a little sad, but hopefully the next game is a little bit easier for dumb people to engage with so the general public has more reasons to play it.

I'm not good enough at math to know how much, but if they were expecting it to perform anywhere near as good as the last game that's 10s of millions of dollars that were expected but never came. It's insane, but that counts as failure in the eyes of a board of directors, and that's why everyone believes there won't be a kombat pack 3. And like i said, it doesn't really matter what the truth is. Unfortunately, the general sentiment around the game is negative. I think what I said came off harsher than I meant, but I just hope the next game has a better launch because, if we were to assume a pattern, selling one-third of the previous entry means the next game would sell 2 million. I don't think that's going to happen, but as someone who loves Halo, it's pretty scary to think another supermassive game can and has faded into obscurity quicker than anyone would've thought possible.

@@Shankaporomous lol I never heard anybody say mk1 is hard to learn I convinced my little brother to get mk1 he never played a nrs game prior and he learned half the roster and combos in 2 months it’s one of the easiest games to pick up compared to tekken and street fighter mkx was way harder to master
