Hi Omar, I don't often reply in the comments section, but since this is propably your last upload of the year, i'd like to thank you and your family and all the folks at Near Mint for everything you guys are doing with this channel. Your enthusiasm in life - and love for the comic book medium especially - really helps me get through the most difficult time of my life. This past year has been a year full of health and mental issues due to a spinal injury that has bedridden me for the last 8 months, and whenever i'm feeling down or having a hard time making it through the day, your videos always put a smile on my face and help me take my mind off the pain. Comics have been a real blessing in my rehabilitation and after not having read any (pretty much) since my childhood, this channel has gotten me interested in so many great titles i'd otherwise never would have layed my eyes on. I wish you guys all the best for 2020. You might not realize it, but you guys really make an impact on other peoples lives. And hey, if Near Mint really blows up and hits 1.000.000 subscribers this next year (you really deserve that), i'm sure you'll keep the same down to earth and humble attitude that makes us Minties appreciate your content even more. The best way to raise Animal man’s profile is to put him on a team. Justice League Dark would be the perfect place for him. Plus, swamp thing and hellblazer are there as well. The dynamics practically write themselves.

I like how rather than having a set format to your reviews, e.g. 'this covers issues... the story is written and illustrated by... the binding is...' you discus such in a more fluid and passionate manner
Sérgio Freitas i believe it is absolutely necessary to read concurrently with swamp thing. And i love it! One of the rare instances where the new 52 continuity was easy to go "these books cross over!" Since the commitment only required following two titles instead of like six.
Ryan Wilson I jumped into comics with the new 52. all I read at the time were batman titles, aquaman, justice league, animal man, swamp thing, and a few other titles. Snyder wrote the first portion of Swamp thing in new 52. you could definitely only read Swamp Thing and Animal man from the new 52 and it will work. As they both end together, though, I highly recommend reading them side by side. otherwise one will spoil the other. also looks like animal man continues past rotworld, as lemire stuck to the title a little longer than Snyder stuck with swamp thing
Thanks Omar. This arrived yesterday along with the new Flash omni, which I am reading now. Love the Grant Morrison run, can't wait to dig into this Lemire omni. Let's give DC some credit for including a table of contents on this and The Flash as well. A positive sign and a step in the right direction is always welcome.
I was given the 1st issue of the New 52 Animal man a year after it came out. I had to know more because I've never read Animal Man before. I kept buying more because of the story with The Rot. It's so good, but My local comic shop laughed at me when I told them how muched I liked it.
Should be recieving this any day now. Also thank you for reccomending Mike Grells Green Arrow. I read vol 1 the other day and I was hooked. Placed my preorder on the omnibus.
In two minds on weather i should upgrade my trades to the omni. Really hate the fact the book closes on you but at the same time love the art in oversized! lol. This was my favorite run on the New 52. Was so bumped when it was announced that Lemire was leaving the book. He had really good ideas and was fleshing out the character and his universe quite a bit. I hope he revisits the character again one day!
No matter how new 52 sucked big time, they produced amazing stand alone series and comics runs during that era: Animal Man by Lemire Swamp Thing by Snyder then Soule Batman by Snyder Batwoman by Williams III Wonder Woman by Azzarello Green Arrow by Sorentino Action Comics by Morrisson Grayson by Seeley/King
Love this run. I loved it so much I had it custom bound by herring and robinson so there is no gutter loss. I thought about getting this omni but was worried about the tightness of the bind. It seems it would be a down grade. Glad you made this video, you saved me some $. It's pronounced pew. Imagine Hugh with a P. (I googled it)
have never read any animal man comic book. Thought it is some cheesy character for kids or from silver or golden age. But after reviews decided to try with Lemire omni. Hope to get some horror and thriller vibes from it.

I know it’s not the same but you can get Morrison’s Animal Man in 2 OHC on Amazon for around $60. A lot cheaper than paying for Morrison’s OOP omnibus.
I haven't read all Animal man by Jeff Lemire but what I have read it is really good. I really didn't mind some of the changes that Jeff made to the character. And I thought that they were really good so far. For me this had to be one of the golden Champs New 52 that why do people really didn't talk about that they should have been passing around to other telling them this series.
I read the Grant Morrison run and really liked it, but I haven't read any of this run. I did went blind nonetheless. I preordered mine months and months ago, but lately, because of stock issues, Amazon Mexico has been very crappy at fulfilling preorders to the point that only yesterday I got my Snyder and Capullo Batman. (Still worth the wait, considering I got like 70% off stacked on Prime day, I think.)
I really need this omni. I've read it and enjoyed it a lot but don't have it in my collection. I've had the three Grant Morrison tpbs (wish I had the omni) for years as I'm a huge Morrison fan but not too long ago I found liquidated volumes 4, 5, 6, and 7 for like 7 dollars each in the bargain books at BAM and the Tom Veitch and Jamie Delano runs were a lot better than I was expecting as I'd never heard much about them, but the Morrison run is by far the best and Lemire's is probably the second best. Steve Pugh, which you correctly pronounced by the way, didn't just work on the New 52 Animal Man with Lemire, he also did quite a bit of the art during the Jamie Delano run. Really like his art.
Got mine last week but as I stretched the spine I noticed the first 20 or so pages were torn significantly close to the binding. Sent it back now I’m back to waiting to finally read this!
I ordered this from in stock trades but haven’t received it yet never ordered from them.....it’s been about two weeks do they take awhile or should I be worried?
When I discovered Jeff Lemire I was tempted to get this run in trade. I held our hoping for this omni and it took a year since it was announced but I have it finally and I'm glad I waited. My only disappointment is that I missed getting the Snyder Swamp Thing Deluxe and had to get it in collection. The collection only goes to issue 11 though and I would have liked to get that story in it's entirety then get into Animal Man even if some of the issues overlap. My collections all seem to be coming from a time I didn't read any of the big 2 for the longest time including New 52 so I have a lot of catching up to do.
Lloyd Wong the Snyder Deluxe book is awesome! I have it, i love it. i wish this animal man book was sized more like that book. Like two deluxe editions. Omnibus are just too big. Absolutes on the other hand are a better oversize alternative imo.
@@josepholsen7450 I agree about having deluxe hardcovers over Omnibus, but the way DC is playing fast and loose with their collections I'm taking no chances and getting these books however I can. Plus I can't trust them to not cancel a book in the middle of a DHC or worse announce it then cancel it. However I'm not into Absolutes. They are too expensive for me and I only believe special books should get Absolutes. Again DC play it fast and loose on the definition of a special book for absolute treatment.
Lloyd Wong i agree only special books should get absolutes, which is why i like them. I typically only buy books that can and should be read multiple times. Y the last man, transmetropolitan, preacher, sandman, and swamp thing were easy purchases for me on that metric. But its the main reason i haven't picked up the Wonder Woman absolutes yet. Not really sure it warrants it. But they are much easier to read than omnibus. That said, i loce the deluxe edition format for Fables. Perfect size for reading. You should check out more of Rick Remender's stuff. His hardcovers are basically absolute size but much more affordable at 50 bucks cover price.

My main sticking point about Absolutes is the cost is prohibitive for the material you get. I'd rather just get it in omni than pay for more than one absolute to get a run.
Lloyd Wong I find omnibus too difficult to read due to size. the pages are always round and distort the image. that doesn't happen with absolutes. so I like the multiple volumes. plus I read with the book in my lap, I don't read at a table... so omnibus just don't work for me. but I understand the appeal of a one-and-done book/story
I wish this was two volumes. The size of Swamp Thing Deluxe Edition was perfect. I hate omnibus for this exact reason. Impossible to read like that. And i was really looking forward to this to pair up with swamp thing for rotworld. I dont even think i cam buy this, it's terrible binding.
