"I developed the first single stage to orbit rocket" - yeah whatever big deal "I fixed and s7 charging port" holey sweet Jesus!!! You did what???? You're a genius
I just changed mine thanks to your video, I got to say I was really worried that I was going to burn something else since I don't have the proper heating gun. Thanks for the video mate
I was on a google/youtube hunt to see if I could replace my charging port on my own. This video answered that question completely. I don't even want to pay someone to do this now because it feels like asking too much. And sweet Jesus I'm done commenting and there is still 4 minutes left. What the hell even is that brown shit, do I need to aquire opium for this project?! Good video though.
You'll need the opium for your nerves if you try to replace that entire lower board. Prying up the lower 8th of the screen without breaking it is nerve-wracking af
So if I am seeing that correctly, the charging port is installed on a ball grid array? That's much more difficult than I thought it might be. I thought you were going to install it with the screws for proper positioning and then just re-flow the solder.
@@bigboislim69 Sure will it work; the port is in no way involved; it charges via a coil. I have an unreliable usb- port on my S7 (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't), so I mostly use the wireless charging option.
hmmm hot air near microphone? Still work? And always change battery if USB dead. To desolder use lov melt tin like chip quick or some similar with melt. temp around 130 st. C.
It turns out that a complete Samsung Galaxy S7 G930F Micro USB Charging Charger Port Microphone Mic Flex is available on ebay for £3:99 Hardly seems worth all that soldering hassle to me. Great video though
For anyone wondering about this now, the back and recents buttons wrap around from that board, and go under the screen in front. You can ease them in without breaking the digitizer, as they are below it. But, it is a tricky business, and totally messes up the colored foil on the front of the frame. Why they didn't use ribbons and tabs to attach those two buttons I'll never know.
I was able to replace my charging port with this method, but when I plugged it in to test it, the phone immediately turned on. Then when it was booted up, it kept telling me that there was moisture in the port or on the charger (there wasn't). Then the screen went blank (phone still had lights). I haven't been able to get the screen back since, even after pulling the battery, waiting 24 hours, etc. The screen ribbon on the motherboard seems secure. What could have happened? I tried recovery and download modes, but it's still black. It does the short vibrate when I turn it on, too.
Sir, When i connect my S7 with the charger it charge in cable charging mode which takes more than 8 hours to charge full. Fast charging doesn't working and even when i connect my phone with pc, it doesn't connect and my pc showing “USB Device not recognized”. I use samsung's original usb cable and aduptuer and i tried some other samsung cables and aduptuers too. My phone's battery is fine. This problem facing after my usb cable burned while charging. So what should i do now ? What is the problem here? Will it be okay if i change the port only , or i'll have to change something else??

@u666sa They're not waterproof. No one said waterproof. Not even the original question asker. They are water resistant which means temporary exposure isn't a problem unlike with devices that aren't.
Instead of wasting time doing that, why don't you remove the screen and change the whole port? I know it's not easy removing the screen but it's got to be a better option than trying to solder that tiny port on to the charging board.
I don’t know if anyone is still going to reply but what did he apply to the charger port to get it off and what was the thing he was using to melt the substance
Seriously this looks like a set up type scenario. If that heat gun was pushing hot air you'd have cooked your poor hands. But maybe that's why they are that color you've bbcued them b4. For anyone attempting this repair you should probably buy a back panel in case of any scratches that have weakened the glass as it will likely crack from being removed even if you are ginger carefulling it off. I know from other instances. and if it is cracked already then it is going to be useless after it's taken off and will likely spider web al over the place. I would suggest putting a layer of scotch tape on the glass to stop it from spitting up slivers at you as you remove it. Adding tape may also help stop it from cracking a little if you are worried about it breaking during removal. Anyway I just came to see if the screen has to be removed also like some other galaxy models do. Samsung replacement screens cost the most to buy then they go and be extra douchbags by forcing screen removal to replace other parts such dick wads. Do they think that this makes people want to buy their phones or buy replacements rather than fix them or does it make people want to by from other companies whose devices can be fixed for less than the price of a new phone. It is cheaper to buy a used device without cracks than to replace the screens on most S series phones until they become completely obsolete and can't run basic apps like youtube. I'm getting tired of samsung if you haven't noticed.
Not every D.I.Y could do this repair it looks so easy in the video you know how many times the video is edited. I suggest don’t do it if you don’t have the skills otherwise you may ruin something.get and estimate at a shop if too much to repair discard it and buy a more up to date phone.

Confident I could fix this myself! Having seen the video, I now accept I just have to buy a new phone!
