Pretty good video. Hardest part was getting the back off. If you are careful, you can save much of the water-proofing adhesive on the back. A couple suggestions. With phones, computers, cars, anything, they are highly, precisely engineered. If a piece doesn't fit easily, remove it and try again. Do not force a part! The part should fit in easily. When putting screws back in, turn them counterclockwise. They will click into place. You can feel this happen, and often hear it. Then you can turn the screw clockwise to tighten. This will keep you from cross-threading the screw. When you put the three cover parts back on, there are a few more steps than they show. Put the largest piece in first, but don't screw in tightly. That piece needs to interweave with the bottom part. On the left side, one tab on the bottom piece has to go under the larger piece, while one tab must go over the larger piece. On the bottom piece, these is a tab at the bottom that can be snapped into place by pushing on it. On the top piece, the top edge of the middle piece must go under the top piece. Also, I believe a tab on the top part has to go under the frame of the phone. Tighten the screws slightly as you put them in. Then tighten them at various opposite places, like putting a tire on your car. This will avoid one side being tighter than the other or stress put on one side.

It looks like I won't be getting the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S8 (when it comes out) because Samsung has decided not to make their batteries removable. I am going to stick with the Galaxy S5 until Samsung decides to change their minds and make their batteries removable. As far as the glass covers goes, they can get rid of that! It's not safe and Samsung knows that. Samsung needs to listen to their customers because the customers is always right. I understand that they are in competition with Apple and all.....but making your batteries not removable and making glass covers is the stupidest decisions that Samsung has ever made!!! They should go back to plastic covers. It's a lot safer than that damn glass covers!!!
Unfortunately, none of the big phone makers have removable batteries anymore. It's not like batteries have improved; they just want the phone to become obsolete faster so they can sell you a new one. And, it works!
Great video thank you. I recommend not using metal objects to remove the battery however, if you pierce the cell with it you will get an instant fireball.
If you do this repair and you're not careful and don't heat it up properly you will crack a glass back cover. When I ordered my new battery I ordered a new glass back cover that had the adhesive pre-installed all around the edge the Inside Edge of the back cover. I paid $132 for this phone back in June of this year and this is really a nice phone. Or round am I iPhone 6s and more RAM than my LG Stylo 3 plus.
There are bad reviews on the Amazon page for the supposed OEM battery in the link in the description. Apparently that seller is shipping counterfeit battery parts that overheat and are dangerous. Where to get a real OEM batttery?
It's often impossible to get a real OEM battery. What you see on Amazon, Ebay, even Office Depot are usually counterfeits which often only work well for a few months or weeks.
This is absolutely rediculous. You need a fucking masters in engineering now days to replace a battery in phones? I was thinking about getting a S7 or Iphone 6, both are the same, it takes a god damn hour to replace ONE FUCKING BATTERY. Give me a phone that does not require so god damn much...
Ccortanaa You can replace the battery in a iPhone in 5 min or less if your not a fucking dumbass. The S7 isnt that much harder just have to be gentel with the back glass.
Thankfully I kept my S5 long enough to realise the S7 has no IR. Now it's a remote control and nothing else. Every remote I have has one button that has failed, so it comes in useful.
So what was it doing to make you decide to change it. Mine got wet and is barely charging and loses it's charge very fast. It really won't charge at all when it's on.
Thanks for this video. It made my decision easy. I carry a spare battery with me when im hiking. The s5 is simple to change the battery, thats what I like about it.
I guess I should have known but I have never fixed a phone before. The back is glass and immediately broke when I was GENTLY trying to get the back off. I hardly pulled on it after it was loose and it just shattered. Would have been nice to know that caution.
Damn! Did they glue the battery too? It seems like Samsung REALLY doesn't want us to replace the battery like we did with previous models. :) The original battery that comes with SG S7 is a very high quality product. I've been using this phone for 8 years and battery is still in good shape. For me, only problem with this phone is it has an extremely fragile rear cover that is made of thin glass, and it's not removable(for standard user), just like the battery. I wish they made a version with plastic cover and removable battery, just like the previous models like S2*. New Samsung S series phones only have 1 model with removable battery option and I really don't want to buy any of them. I think I'll replace the battery when it dies. * BTW I also still have my S2 running without a SIMM card, on it's 2nd replacement battery. It has retired 8 years ago and today it's doing jobs like being an alarm clock, music/video player and flashlight...
Thanks for the video. My S7 battery has started misbehaving recently, perhaps just a monitoring problem (phone claims it goes from 100% to 1% charge in just a few minutes, but it remains usable for hours at 1%), and a relative who is in the phone-repair biz says it's either the battery or the motherboard, and replacing the battery is one way to find out. This video tells me I should NOT try to do it myself. Will see if Best Buy (where I bought the phone) is willing to try it. Might end up buying a new phone, but it wouldn't be an S7 (obviously) and probably not even a Samsung....
Instruction was useful but, why, why, why did you think it was necessary to add that irritating noise to the soundtrack? Normally I would just mute it but on this occasion, if I'd done that I wouldn't have been able to hear what you were saying.
Once you've put the cover back on, it's a good idea to apply more heat to it so it's melts the glue again then keep the cover pressed... This way you will get a better seal if the glue is soft...
Good video to show exactly what ur in for!! Its Not complicated just follow instructions and TAKE YOUR TIME! I used a Heat gun to soften the glue on the back and used the Tool kit That came with my battery. I lucked out and the Sticky tape holding the original battery Stayed put so just heated it up a little and pressed new Battery in! Same for the Backing. I heated it first placed it on then used a micro cloth to press down around the outside edges then heated the Back again with it on and Pressed it again. Make sure u watch his whole video 1st as he pulled of some parts in the wrong order but tells u at the end. Good luck. Its Not Difficult so if ur a little mechanically inclined its a breeze. Took me longer to gather tools together! Lol.
The most important part of this procedure is how to go about the removal of the actual original battery. It is stuck really firmly in position...do not lever underneath the battery to prise it out. If you do ...you run the real risk of damaging the circuit on the back of screen....this will result in dead pixels at the very least and a completely ruined screen at worst. Slide a piece of STRONG FISHING LINE. under the battery at the top...while someone holds the phone firmly in place on the work surface...You can now in a cheese wire fashion.. use a left to right sawing action to cut through the bond between battery and the screen...working your way down from the top to the bottom. Persevere and take your time doing this even if you need to renew the fishing line a few times. No one who presents this battery change video on RUclips mentions this and its easily the most difficult and destructive part of the whole procedure if it goes wrong.
I'm sorry I have this phone my note 4 died but no cell phone needs to be this difficult in getting the back off on order to get to the battery what the he'll was Samsung Galaxy thinking....... they weren't apparently.

My Galaxy S5 was the best phone I ever own! I own the S7 now and I'm definitely needing my battery replaced! Really sucks
Me too
Unfortunately, none of the big phone makers have removable batteries anymore. It's not like batteries have improved; they just want the phone to become obsolete faster so they can sell you a new one. And, it works!
@@ChickensAndGardening At least they should give us some money back when we get an upgrade. It's the least thing they could do but they won't
"Turn phone off."
Immediately turns phone back on.
Hmm is it water proof after this?? i did not se he put on some glue or some when he put it together again...??
You want water resistance, use a Ziploc.
Love love love that i didn't know you couldn't remove the battery until I needed a new one, I wish I was warned about this before hand.
Quite a process. I think that the Verizon salesperson should have pointed out that changing the battery involved deconstructing the phone!
Great video thank you. I recommend not using metal objects to remove the battery however, if you pierce the cell with it you will get an instant fireball.
Thanks to your help I have now fixed my Galaxy S7.
Great work, Thank-you!
"make sure these is adhesive there" - there doesn't appear to be much. Is that adequate or is additional every required? If so, which type is used??
Do you need to apply new glue for re-assembly??
Can new adhesive be bought for this, so we could apply fresh, new adhesive before putting it back together?
Thanks.
Can I still do this if the back is already cracked? Or will the suction just fully break the glass?
You can break off the back replace the battery and replace the back plate ez fix
What's the name of the tune that's being played in-between the shots??
My next phone will be one with replaceable batteries. I'm done with throw away manufacturing methods
Mission accomplished. Thank you very much!
I would NOT, never ever dent the battery as you do. Not that it goes to waste, but it can blow up in your face if it shorts inside.
so is the phone as water resistant as it was before opening?
Nope, nowhere near.
+Zack thanks
There are bad reviews on the Amazon page for the supposed OEM battery in the link in the description. Apparently that seller is shipping counterfeit battery parts that overheat and are dangerous. Where to get a real OEM batttery?
It's often impossible to get a real OEM battery. What you see on Amazon, Ebay, even Office Depot are usually counterfeits which often only work well for a few months or weeks.
Where did u buy your battery from
Does the new battery come with glue on the back of it? If not, should it not be added?
can you buy the sealant and install it yourself?
So no need to apply new adhesive? Or double sided tape or something?
You're better off when you order the battery order a back cover because the back cover comes with the he Civ already installed on the back cover.
Ccortanaa I would prefer to drink gasoline, much better flavor in my experience & if ima drink alot I be damed if it dosent taste good.
Thankfully I kept my S5 long enough to realise the S7 has no IR. Now it's a remote control and nothing else. Every remote I have has one button that has failed, so it comes in useful.
get a nokia
So what was it doing to make you decide to change it. Mine got wet and is barely charging and loses it's charge very fast. It really won't charge at all when it's on.
all these adhesives are for waterproofing? why couldn't a simple gasket work?
What does it mean when you have a white label on back of your phone? I got one used with they label also.
just means its new
It seems our 5-year old s7 not holding charge well. Will replacing a battery fix the issue?
Thanks for this video. It made my decision easy. I carry a spare battery with me when im hiking. The s5 is simple to change the battery, thats what I like about it.
Throw a little blue RTV in there when you put it back together - good as not quite new.
The original battery that comes with SG S7 is a very high quality product.
Is it still waterproof after the replacement?
I got it done but ruined the back glass. Oh well, live and learn. Got one coming with glue from ebay marketers.
Instruction was useful but, why, why, why did you think it was necessary to add that irritating noise to the soundtrack? Normally I would just mute it but on this occasion, if I'd done that I wouldn't have been able to hear what you were saying.
Will the water resistency be preserved?
Ah, tnx!
Appreciate your showing how to replace battery - and to think I was considering this phone! No way!
Once you've put the cover back on, it's a good idea to apply more heat to it so it's melts the glue again then keep the cover pressed... This way you will get a better seal if the glue is soft...
I had to pop in and say good job on this video. Definitely something I can take on if/when needed.
Thanks very much.
This helped me so much! It feels really good that i didnt have to get a new phone!
Thank you so much!
8:11 you damage screen on back, can't scratch black surface.
Great video. I'll try this with my S7. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for everything. Wonderful job. Now I can watch it while I actually do it!
Oh it was definitely a conscious decision to do this. iPhone profit model of buying a phone every 2 years.
I got a Note4 and the day it dies, if there are no phones in the market with removable battery to buy, I will get the fucking cheapest chinese phone I can find. The manufacturers can go to hell if they think I will buy disposable, throw-away phones worth 800€.
Marcos Cano LG G5 and LG V20 have removable battery and ir blaster.
even cheap chinese phones are not having removable battery nowadays
Chinese phones don't have removable batteries, but they're cheep! You can by 4 of those mid-tier huawei phones for the price of one S7.
Thank You! Your video helped me replace the battery in my sweetie's S7. Couldn't have done it without you! :-)
Thanks for this videos now i know how to replace a battery without wasting money
where can i buy oem battery?
I cracked the glass back, because I didn't know it was glass over plastic. Bought a new back from Amz. other than that all is working well. thanks for the video.
