I didn't know about Twiglet! I know Willow was an older piggy, so it was a given, but Twiglet? I knew there was someone missing! Btw, the reason I'm leaving another comment is because I wanted to tell you how much I love your hay! I know you did a video a ways back about hay, and I saw your regimen, the meadow hay, and the alfalfa king Timothy hay. Your meadow hay looks wonderful, so long stranded, I wish I could get it here in the States!
Twiglet was Willow's baby that she had when they were both brought into the RSPCA over 5 years ago when I adopted them, unfortunately she passed early this year due to bloat. RIP sweet Twiggie

I think guinea pigs make great pets too.. they are fluffy, adorable and such characters…. Plus if you have 2 or more, you really get to enjoy different personalities…. We hav3 2 males - Tucker and Chewy.. Tucker is more outgoing, VERY loud, bossy, and he loves taking a nap during lap time. - or at least he loves flopping down on my lap.. Chewy is shy, sweet, a little too skittish, and much quieter than his brother,,..he is getting better at lap time.. I can tell that their previous owner only fed a few types of veggies - our piggies don’t know what fresh herbs are and have no desire to eat dried herbs, have never seen (or eaten) any fruit…. The other day Chewy ran away from tomato..lol.. I did find that Chewy loves carrot tops.. and Tucker loves sweet peppers... I’ve started eatin* healthier since we got the guinea pigs - I love romaine lettuce, cucumbers and baby carrots..
Lyra is all grown up!! I missed Willow and Lyra so much! Did Sprite pass on? I know she was a pretty old piggy when you had your channel before. I'm so happy your shop is open, I'm going shopping!!

I live in a small home and there really is too much items I have bought over the years and too little space for my piggy to have a large living space but I have been working on a C&C cage lately (though I have been unable to get hold of corroplast due to my country's lockdown)

You have a great setup...and ur piggies r majorly cute! I noticed that you have their hay in a plastic container...do you not find they chew on it? Whenever I have used plastic they try and eat it so I have to stop. What is ur secret? Also, I'm in Australia and don't seem to have as much variety in hay...other than Timothy hay, wot is another good choice?
Thank you! Oh yes it's an underbed storage box, they don't chew it other than a tiny nibble now and then. They don't really have to jump in as the entrances are really low, not sure if that helps! Timothy is one of the best hays, my other is just general assorted meadow hay which they seem to enjoy. Timothy is fine too give as a staple all the time and then maybe just try some others now and again to mix in 😊

Thanks! Yes they can, as long as its safe (usually no lid so if there's other pets they might get in) and you can set up a waterproof liner or something for the bottom of the pen, 😊
Hi thank you for your comment! I have in the past and have used ivermectin to treat running lice. I think there is an old video about this 😊. I also tried to treat hay mites with it but they are difficult to get rid of, and don't actually harm the piggie either. I don't take preventative care, guinea pig lice and mange mites are species-specific to just guinea pigs and cannot survive long without their host, so the risks of catching them when they are never in contact with other pigs is very low 😊
I love this video! This is a little off topic, but I need advice. I just got two girls yesterday and they’ve been drinking and eating pellets and hay. I gave them a veggie bowl today, but they haven’t eaten it even when I left the room. I haven’t been touching them or picking them up, I know you’re supposed to wait for all of that. Should I seek a vet or just give them time? Thank u
Thank you! They are probably just a little wary and unsure about the veggies maybe, did you try with cucumber and normal (not iceberg) lettuces? If they are babies these more bland things are a good place to start 😊
They’re about 3 months old, so they’re still babies right? I did try with regular lettuce and they were uninterested. I will try with cucumber today. Thank you!
Mine hear the knife hit the counter while I'm chopping their veggies or when their bowls hit the counter and when my watch goes off at dinner time lol and they go nuts when I give them fresh hay
If, I were to make a hay box/litter box for my 3 guinea pigs wouldn't it smell after a while and then would be a waste of hay if so how do i prevent it from smelling?
The downside to hay rooms is that you do get through more hay than just using hay bags or racks, however the plus side is that guinea pigs love having loose hay to eat, play and sleep in. It also encourages them the go to the toilet in one area (so easier to clean) - it shouldn't smell if you clean out everyday, or more if you have lots of piggies. But it only takes a couple of minutes if using newspaper and it means the fleece liner or other parts of the cage don't get dirty as quick. There's pros and cons, I like to see my piggies enjoying their hay where they can reach it easily. Maybe give it a go and see what you think :)
I've fallen in love with guinea pigs over the last few months and I'm going to be getting some soon I live in the uk so I'm going to probably going to get them from pets at home is it a good idea to get an older one that is up for adoption and a baby one I think it would be a good idea to have an older one to learn from
An older one would be a nice idea, but I would highly recommend checking out guinea pigs at a local rescue. Its fantastic to support the work they do, you can get some beautiful bonded pairs (such as a paired older and baby male if thats what you are thinking) and avoid the problems that are all too often associated with guinea pigs from pet shops (mis-sexing, infections, other health problems, poorly socialised piggies). You can often track down rescues on Facebook or Google 😊
Hi Bertha - it can start to smell if the pads need changing out, but generally they pee in the litter tray and hotspots around the cage where I put the waterproof pads on top of the liner. I change the litter tray out everyday, pads usually last 3-4 days and the liner can last up to two weeks.

Hi Camille :) the hay box is 6 inches tall, but I have cut an entrance into it. That said Lyra still jumps over the top to get in most of the time!

I love this video! This is a little off topic, but I need advice. I just got two girls yesterday and they’ve been drinking and eating pellets and hay. I gave them a veggie bowl today, but they haven’t eaten it even when I left the room. I haven’t been touching them or picking them up, I know you’re supposed to wait for all of that. Should I seek a vet or just give them time? Thank u
Thank you! They are probably just a little wary and unsure about the veggies maybe, did you try with cucumber and normal (not iceberg) lettuces? If they are babies these more bland things are a good place to start 😊
They’re about 3 months old, so they’re still babies right? I did try with regular lettuce and they were uninterested. I will try with cucumber today. Thank you!

Mine hear the knife hit the counter while I'm chopping their veggies or when their bowls hit the counter and when my watch goes off at dinner time lol and they go nuts when I give them fresh hay

If, I were to make a hay box/litter box for my 3 guinea pigs wouldn't it smell after a while and then would be a waste of hay if so how do i prevent it from smelling?
The downside to hay rooms is that you do get through more hay than just using hay bags or racks, however the plus side is that guinea pigs love having loose hay to eat, play and sleep in. It also encourages them the go to the toilet in one area (so easier to clean) - it shouldn't smell if you clean out everyday, or more if you have lots of piggies. But it only takes a couple of minutes if using newspaper and it means the fleece liner or other parts of the cage don't get dirty as quick. There's pros and cons, I like to see my piggies enjoying their hay where they can reach it easily. Maybe give it a go and see what you think :)

An older one would be a nice idea, but I would highly recommend checking out guinea pigs at a local rescue. Its fantastic to support the work they do, you can get some beautiful bonded pairs (such as a paired older and baby male if thats what you are thinking) and avoid the problems that are all too often associated with guinea pigs from pet shops (mis-sexing, infections, other health problems, poorly socialised piggies). You can often track down rescues on Facebook or Google 😊

How do you deal with the pee all over the cage does it not smell? Or have they learn to pee in one place?
Hi Bertha - it can start to smell if the pads need changing out, but generally they pee in the litter tray and hotspots around the cage where I put the waterproof pads on top of the liner. I change the litter tray out everyday, pads usually last 3-4 days and the liner can last up to two weeks.
I notice that your cage isn't that high. They won't jump out?
Is a 120 cm cage ok for 2 guinea pigs?
If 60cm deep yes it meets minimum requirements. I explain more about cage sizes in my next video 😊
