This was very helpful! I have several tombow sets and was wondering what the colorless blender is for and how I can blend it thoroughly without marks and uneven strokes. Any tips? Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! I haven't used the tombow sets to blend, but I think the same tips apply. Try to keep both colors wet when applying to make a more seamless blend and layers are definitely your friend! Hope that helps
I recently bought Watercolour Brush Pens first time buying them don't know how to use them but I do now this was very helpful thanks & I just Subscribed to your channel
Does the paper work on arteza brush pen too ? Cause I'm using an arteza paper with the brush pen and it couldn't layer well and gets soggy pretty easily
These tips should work with any water brush pen of any brand. Is it their expert watercolor paper? From my experience, their expert watercolor paper is really durable and should have held up to the constant layering.
iiKiui no i was using their prenuium band ( the pink cover with a girl sitting with a desk ) maybe that might be the problem - I'll try buy the expert next time but could you tell me what the cover looks like cause they made so many expert papers - also thank you for the reply 😄
Sure thing! Here's the one I use: bit.ly/38ec7kT It's a little pricier, but I find that it works well. Here's another option: bit.ly/2up6ou6 It's less expensive and has the same thickness as the other one. However, if you want a more affordable option, I use the Canson Watercolor Paper Pad: amzn.to/3buK17h That's the paper I used in the video. It does buckle quite a bit, but it costs a significant amount less than the other two. Hope that helped!
I watched several of your videos and they are very interesting! I would like to use watercolor for a long time but I don't know where to start. I notice that you use several ways to make watercolor so I wondered what would be best for me, who is a beginner and who has never used watercolor. I hesitate between the palette or the brush pen or the Dr ph martin's liquid watercolors... and which brand do you suggest? I am not afraid to invest in quality 😉 one last thing: would it be possible to make videos giving exercises to do with watercolor to be able to master it, one small step at a time? 😁 This is just a suggestion 😊 Thank you! 🙏
I'm glad to hear that you find my videos interesting! I haven't used Dr. Ph. Martin's liquid watercolors before, so I can't give my opinion on that, but personally, I think if you're just starting out, a watercolor palette is best! I still love using my palette because the colors are already set for me and it's not as messy as tube watercolors. I've found water brush pens to be more challenging to use because you can't really apply them to a wet surface. For palettes, I love the Sakura Koi watercolor palette: amzn.to/2SdA9qS I've used it several times in past videos and it's still one of my favorite go to palettes. I also really enjoy the Arteza watercolor palette: bit.ly/2H4I0k0 I can definitely make videos with different watercolor exercises! It was something I was thinking of doing in the past and I'd love to make more videos if it would be helpful!
For watercolors, I like to use paper that's 300gsm, specifically the Strathmore watercolor paper. Anything that can hold a lot of water would work well. In this video, I use the Canson watercolor paper which is also 300gsm.
Yes, I usually dampen the paper a bit with a light wash of water. Make sure not to soak the paper too much or else the watercolors won't stay. Dipping the pens in water, in my experience, just takes away the color, so I wouldn't recommend that. Hope this helps!
Does it have a section where you can squeeze the water? Usually, it needs to be squeeze for the water to dispense or else it just absorbs the paint. I haven't used it in a while though, but I wish you the best of luck!
The tape I use in this video is called "Artist's Tape" - there's no brand name. However, any artist's tape or some sort of masking tape will work. Nowadays, I use masking tape from the dollar store because it's sticky enough to stay on the paper, but not sticky enough to rip it when I remove it.

Did you wet your paper first? My pens can go on dry looking. Should I dip them in water first?
