These work well with water soluble graphite, too. I like to use the ArtGraf one that comes in the little round tin. You can pick up graphite from the tin, paint into the top, and add water to dilute and make lighter values. Or, take it straight from the tin to make the darkest values.

I LOVE my water brushes!!! I have 8 different sizes and shapes. There aren't many things I can't paint with them. Though I have more "normal" brushes than I can count, I can't say I've used any of them in months. I keep a small kit of paints, a small watercolor journal, and a few water brushes in my purse so I can paint something when I'm out and inspired. It would be difficult to do that with my other brushes and a jar of water.

I find the mold and algae give my paintings a new active texture.
The living paint changes the picture as it grows.
Eventually I didn't have to decide what to paint. As it gained intelligence it made its own shapes no matter how hard I would try.
I am hoping that it will evolve enough to where I don't even have to paint anymore as it just does it. I'll come home one day and there'll be a brand new painting that wasn't there when I left!
    Exciting!
However, I do worry that if I don't praise the work I'll end up like Stephen King in the end of Creepshow. I'm just glad my name isn't Seymour!

Is it tragic that I immediately recognised the Nutella jar? I don't even particularly like Nutella, and yet 🤷‍♀️
I love the idea of water brushes, I've tried a couple but dislike the constant flow of water... I might try the Caran d'Ache ones though - I'm not a fan of the piston, but maybe the button to release water will give me a bit more control.

    RE DILUTING ACRYLIC GOUACHE
I bought a set of 34 acrylic gouache tubes by Turner and was annoyed to find that the manufacturer recommends that you dilute the paint with one part water to two parts paint before using. This is not exactly convenient: I buy paint sets so I can dab the colour I need straight from the tube.
(Why couldn't they just dilute it first?)
Do you think a waterbrush would help me paint straight from the tube the way I've always done before? I literally use one dab of colour at a time and it's not worth messing around diluting miniscule amounts of paint to swoosh over my pen-&-ink sketches. I've tried the waterbrush and it seems to work but I'm interested to hear anyone else's take on using one to dilute professional strength acrylics...🖌️✍️👨‍🎨

I like when videos get right to the point and waste no time with intros. This video is almost perfect. The content is perfect and has excellent information and a great narrator. I didn't know that I could take my brush tip apart like that. I've been cleaning the bristles with brush soap and water after each use like regular brushes. My only problem with it is the music. Many videos on RUclips use similar repetitive bouncy music like this and I find it annoying. But it was worth watching because the information was excellent.

I tend to use my waterbrush to soften the edges of my painting, make smaller wash areas for wet on wet, and add color to areas I forgot. Sometimes I'll use it to drop water into the mix I'm using to paint with if it's started to dry out, but I'm concerned with adding too much water. Hi there! When using a water brush, it's recommended you squeeze the water reservoir (the main body) a few times to wet/wash the brush hairs/tip, dabbing the liquid and paint on a tissue or paper towel. Continue this process until there is no more paint remaining in the brush tip. Then, you can drip the brush into a new color.

Thanks for this. Probably the only tutorial I've seen on how to clean the brush in order to change colours. A lot of tutorials show using different brushes for different colours.

Great tip on how to clean the brush tip assembly. I did not know you could take it apart.

Ohhh wow I always wondered if I could get the bristles out for cleaning. Never tried it for fear of breaking my brushes. Thanks for sharing this with us especially with the deep cleaning section!!
