As the last resort pull off the tip of a ballpoint after the ink has been is not visible anymore. That means there's probably an eighth of an inch of ink left in the straw portion. Remove the tip from the dried out pen and put it on the other tip which had ink flowing until the ink wasn't visible. When you do this do it over some old newspaper because it can be messy. When I do this with a Bic I usually just cut off the tip of the unworking pen with scissors. That means at least 3/8 of an inch of the straw portion will be thrown away. That means fresher ink. This is a lot of work to save 15 cents but it may be satisfying to get the ink flowing that would not flow any other way.
When my fountain pen won't write, I look if there's any dried ink and if not I pull out the cartridge and dip the tip into the cartridge then put it back and start writing. Usually works as the ink start flowing after.

What about white gel pens and other white pens. They are skippy or just don’t write even though they seem to have ink in them. I have tried wiping the tip on a wet paper towel which sometimes works, but not always,,
If your gel pen stops working while your in a rush and dont have hot water you can revive it by blowing on the refill until you see ink coming out of the nib.😊
I enjoyed all the tips and tricks I never knew ball point inks melt away with alcohol, that’s cool. Thanks for the tips Brena

i love Jetpens and have been a customer for years. Just discovered this channel and love all the helpful hints. Very useful.
I have a black permanent sign marker that I purchased somewhere around 1986-87 that is still working today!!! AMAZING!!
I took the screenshot of the storing pens chart bcz I barely was able to remember what pen to store what way😜 Thank you JetPens! This is really a unique, must-needed-but-not-usually-spoken-about, informative video💖
the "how to store pens" chart is soooooo 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼❤️❤️❤️❤️
Awesome! This is invaluable info for artists and writers! Thank you so much!
This was extremely comprehensive, thank you!
I had some Sakura Gelly pens that weren’t working. I soaked them, tip down (cap off) in isopropyl alcohol and saved a few. I have a bazillion Gelly Roll pens, but the six I couldn’t get working still annoy me!
me who forgot you aren't supposed to store gel pen refills standing up: OH SHOOT-
really superb ideas mind blowing tips because I have too many pens dried in and cannot write.I have stationery shop and confused what to do but now clear and want to sell by this video. Thanks a lot.
This video taught me a few things. Among other things, I didn't realize ball point ink wasn't as permanent as I thought. I will get some gel pens for writing checks and other important documents.
Might you have a video on how to help with old pen grips that have become very sticky or gunky feeling? I’ve tried goo-gone, regular dish soap and nail polish remover but they still feel nasty afterwards
Thanks
Thanks for the clear fingernail polish tip to protect writing. I use a lot of colored pencils and the color or number often wears off.
That's an old trick
I cannot wait to see if putting Pilot Frixion refills in the freezer does the trick because I keep buying new ones when they go dry.
I will be so happy if it works.
Worked very well for my ball point pens! I have some fine liners with 0.2 and 0.1 that dried on the first use. Opened the and they still have lots of ink, the nib just isn't working right. Couldn't get those ones to work sadly.
absolutely fantastic tips! i'm gonna try fixing my pilot coleto refill... i've got a black one that doesn't write, but still has a ton of visible ink
What about white gel pens and other white pens. They are skippy or just don’t write even though they seem to have ink in them. I have tried wiping the tip on a wet paper towel which sometimes works, but not always,,
I love ALL of your videos but this one was escpecially helpful. My favourite is the "How to store pens" list. Thank you for that.
Thank you! Your advice seems to have worked on my ballpoint pen.
Thanks, JetPens!! It works with my zebra sarasa, i'm so happy
To revive a stuck white-out pen, soak the tip in 70% or greater alcohol for a few minutes. Saved a few this way. May have to do it intermittently.
If your gel pen stops working while your in a rush and dont have hot water you can revive it by blowing on the refill until you see ink coming out of the nib.😊
I enjoyed all the tips and tricks I never knew ball point inks melt away with alcohol, that’s cool. I once had my water color paint brush left in proxide or alcohol but wasn’t planning on leaving it there but forgot it was in solution next day when I went to use it I couldn’t find the bristles they disolved in the alcohol or peroxide i used both a lot I was cleaning certain things with the paint brush and dipping it. we learned from our mistakes and we also do a psychology experiment or science experiment by accident after that I got a question why did the bristles disappear in that particular liquid? now I have more questions how long did it take until bristles dissolves? i’m curious but I do not want to ruin good paint brushes. Thanks for the tips Brena
Where can I get one of those clear plastic horizontal storage holders like the one shown in the video?
wow!so many pens collections
this channel deserves more than 793K subs
I don't know what Sarasa pen is like, but now that I know it can fit into my Pilot Grip, I'm going to try it. Pilot Grip is my favorite due to it's hefty feel.
These are great hacks and ideas. Here’s another: I don’t remember the brand of pen, but I used to sometime think my pen was defective or dried out when in fact there was a small clear casement on the tip (to keep it from leaking before sale?). Is it just me that has found this?
That's a great one! Yes, a lot of retractable pens come with a tip protector that you have to remove before you use it!
Great video. I have lots of gel pens that occasionally seem to dry up, but the cup of hot water trick is dandy!
Thank you! It worked! All my dried ballpens are working now! 😃
I will try the nail polish hacks! Thank you!
Thank you I revived my old ballpoint pen. I'm using it after 3yrs
Seriously
I can't believe..
