For me, the scariest thing in JoJo is Jail House Lock and its ability to make people only remember up to 3 new things at a time. Being trapped in a daily routine, unable to create or grow relationships, barely able to make any decision or do basic daily tasks is terrifying. That stand essentially turns you into a stage 2-3 dementia patient. You retain your previous memories and don't hallucinate, but still horrific nonetheless.

To me, the most horrifying thing in JoJo is Diavolo's fate. He's definitely a sick bastard (especially according to my headcanons which turn him into the most evil JoJo character by far), but when I saw him wake up on the slab, I instantly knew what was about to happen. Just being forced to watch helplessly as the coroner reaches for the dissection tools, not hearing his screams of agony as he was sliced open and disemboweled, is one of the most terrifying situations to be in.

@@scarsch1286 My theory is that Diavolo is a straight-up demon possessing Doppio. Controlling Doppio like a puppet, he ruined his life by making him kill everyone he loved before sending him into a life of crime, driving him into despair and insanity so he could take over as the dominant personality. And since Diavolo is a demon, there's no reason to assume Doppio was his first victim; there's a chance that he's done this to many other people, possessing them at birth and guiding them through a life of crime and evil before hopping to the next victim when they die. Trapping Diavolo's soul in an infinite loop thus breaks this cycle, punishes him for the many lives he's destroyed, and can remind one of Hell where the demon came from in the first place.

@@Zuxtron A lot of people also think Diavolo is a demon possessing Doppio (some even think that he could be the Devil himself because of his name and the biblical parallels with Giorno), especially since it seems that something was wrong with Doppio from the moment he was born and that's not how DID works. The fact that it could be a cycle is a nice touch.

Underrated moment that def deserves a spot on this list is Diavolo’s encounter with the fortune teller. The animation and sfx for Doppio’s transformation, combined with him slowly choking the fortune teller to a wall was utterly horrifying. It felt like watching Frankenstein’s monster rise from the grave and close in on its creator. Not to mention that KC’s quick offscreen death blow was spine-chilling. I was anticipating at any moment that Doppio would murder the kid who saw from the street. One of my fav JoJo scenes in general.

Yeah, and the reveal of The World was much better. None of the usual Araki "something bizarre happens" and then later explanation. No, we feel the fear because we see The World revealed BEFORE Kakyoin's fatal injury. It's like ... we were expecting whatever Dio does to be fast, but instead it's relaxed and leisurely. We understand in a split second the nature of Dio's power, the reason why he's so unconcerned with Kakyoin's threats, and the fact that Kakyoin is about to die and there's absolutely nothing anyone can do about it.

It may not technically be unique to JoJo (it's even based around real life events), but Kira's meticulous efforts to hide his monstrous nature is one of the scariest things possible; that the man you work with everyday is actually a murderer who's killed dozens of people for over a decade. I still think Heaven's Door is the most potentially horrifying thing in all of JoJo. Rohan can just write anything into anybody within his Stand's reach. If he wants to turn you into something truly inconceivable that the human mind cannot comprehend, he can. If he wants to turn you into what you hate the most, he can. If he wants you to skin your family alive and bathe them in acid, he can make you do so. If he wants you to turn your spouse inside out without killing her and then grill her alive on the back porch, he can make you. There's scarcely any limit placed on the horrific things Heaven's Door can make people do, especially if it was wielded by someone far more sadistic and evil than Rohan.

I'm curious to not seeing one stand in the video... Ntorious B.I.G vs. Trish
even at the beginning, the fight is weird because a stand user run, dies and... does nothing ? then there's message of deaht on walls, and we find corpse in a fridge, and then there's a simple fight, but that left one thing : no more healing for the team, Giorno stand is gone. but then it's absolutely terrifying. Trish is alone, in that dark plane, she sees something outside, think it's nothing, the music stop... *BAM* the thing just explode at the windows, enter by, and start doing it's thing, and it's even more frightening when you think of one fact : in a plane you can't escape, and the thing here is invincible. We get a little hope after Spice Girl introduction, before... the thing eat half of the plane. even after he's gone for the gang, he still doing victims in the ocean... an absolute monster
Honorable mention to the scene when the Bucciarati gang run in the colosseum, and there's just one frame where we see King Crimson in the dark, watching, knowing what's happening

The fucking bear Araki drew in Hot Pants' flashback during Civil War is horrifying. All these other outlandish or existential moments be damned; our lizard brains will always resonate with the horror of something larger wanting to eat you.
I suppose there's also the human aspect of Hot Pants choosing to sacrifice her brother that should be taken into account, but mostly that scary ass bear, man.

I remember watching a TikTok where it’s the Santana thing and the guy doing commentary for it forgot his name and called him Santa and put a Christmas effect over the scene and this jolly music over it so when ever someone brings up the Santana fight rather massacre I think of that and I just start laughing

Something that definitely always strikes me as unsettling happened in part 7.
The bit where funny valentine found out his wife was an imposter and closed in on Lucy Steel was reminiscent of the psycho killer slowly closing in on their victim. Except the fact that he almost violated her and the whole thing ended with her getting pregnant with the holy corpse made this encounter genuinely off putting.

Scariest bit of each part besides part 8 haven't finished it
part 1:Almost everything Dio got up to in Windkights lot.
Part 2: Kars becoming the ultimate life form seemed like a truly hopeless moment.
Part 3:The Ice fight in general.
Part 4: Kira right after switching bodies.
Part 5: Silver chariot requiem/Risotto being shot leaving the gang unaware of where the boss is.
    Part 6:Heavy weather.
Part 7: The return of Diego.

My top scariest moment in Jjba is everything with Cioccolata and Secco because they have such a twisted backstory and have no limits to how much carnage they can cause. They are so evil that even Diavolo finds them repulsive.

There was one particular scene in this show that really disturbed me and my sibling was the scene about the cat in a flask because we were eating dinner at the time we watched the show with our cat.. after that scene we couldn’t eat or say anything.. I have never been this disturbed by a horror anime.. we even made an oath to never watch the tv show afterwards.

Pucci's C-moon and made in heaven were both absolutely terrifying.
Watching through that the first time, seeing the destructive irreversible consequences of his abilities as pucci achieeves his goal was chilling. It was a very specific feeling it gave that no other encounter in JoJo has been able to give me. Theres one particular shot of old historic art crumbling away as time accelerates and the universe seems to be in absolute havoc, it just filled me with more dread, fear, and sadness than any other moment.
Things like Kars' awakening, love train, and wonder of you were scary but none of it felt as existential to me as cmoon and made in heaven.
Kars was a really cool moment and despite things feeling hopeless Kars hasnt done much much damage to the world yet, and i was still able to find myself rooting for joseph. But if he were to lose, thered be no living being in existance thatd be able to stop him
With D4c and love train, it felt like a very BIG fight, the WEIGHT of this fight was added not just by johnny, gyro, and valentine, but also to all the racers, everyone in America and almost the whole world. This almost unstoppable power had to be off of valentines hands. While the fight definitely had the risk of huge reprecussions, the ones that were most immediate to me was the main cast. Johnny and Gyro's journey and the symbolism behind everything in the part made that showdown with valentine feel much more emotional and powerful
I just finished reading part 8 so i dont have all my thoughts together about it yet, but i can say that wonder of you felt absolutely unstoppable. With fate always being a factor in jojo, a stand like this reallly was one of the strongest and malicious we've ever seen. It doesnt have that doomsday aspect that pucci's whole thing has, but it still manages to be scary in a different way. Wonder of you is creepy, once it locks onto you theres no escape, itll follow you while staying just out of reach waiting for you to finally succumb to the horrors of calamity. Its much more of a "monster under your bed" or a "breathing right on the back of your neck" kind of feeling, terror.

One of my picks for horifying moment is when the hitman team receives a d assembles the packsges tgat form the dissected remains of sorbet's body in golden wind, while hes still alive. The anime goes a step further with his screams as chocolatta (at diavalo's will), cuts him up, it also shpws wgat lengths diavolo will go to protect his identity.

king crimson period, the faces it makes, the way it appears sort of sentient while also appearing as if diavolo IS the stand during the body swap chariot thingy, as well as how fucked up it would be to fight against that ability, just nope
