Freddie Mercury - LIVE VOCAL RANGE in the Game Tour (A2~E7?!)

  • This video is a part of a series I have here on my channel so, if you haven’t already, check my other videos out.
The Game Tour is kind of the Crazy Tour’s younger sibling, they both share amazing vocals, showing Freddie in his prime, at the peak of his career as a vocalist and in the best shape he’s ever been.
So enjoy this compilation of Freddie’s vocal highlights, because you really don’t want to miss out on them.
In this tour, he also hit a crazily high E7 in whistle register so share your thoughts on it, on whether or not it should be counted as an actual note, or just as a “weirdly high pitched noise he made” as you can’t really call that singing.
    TIMESTAMPS:
0:18 Low Notes (down to an A2)
1:10 Chest Voice high notes (up to a D5)
9:11 Falsetto high notes (up to a Bb5)
9:50 Whistle Register high notes (up to an E7!?)

@JackDan i believe his first tour in 1973 was his best voice but not the best singing, Freddie has honed his technique over time, but in the early Queen years concerts Freddie had his voice softer and brighter than ever and sang all studio verses in falsetto

The vocal range of Freddy in all situations... just a legend. He's got it in studio with his legendary pure voice but when he had to shout he was unable to do it. *Caution* : i say it's his voice in studio but it's easier to modulate in a quiet room. Of course he had to be able to modulate this way. It's really different on stage with the high pressure. Any musician must secure his performance by playing the way he won't be too tired while a 2 hours performance.

The Americans are quite greedy when it comes to those shows. It’s a shame because those vocals would easily fit in with the Crazy Tour and no one would notice. I’m so curious what the first four shows sound like since they’re not in circulation because I’d imagine he’d be a different beast in them.

@@rickysld Basically, according to a post on the forum by Ryan Newton, there are two reasons to believe that the soundcheck comes from the Japan 1979 shows. The first is that Freddie doesn't sound like his regular 1981 self, but more like how he did in 1979. In the soundcheck, Freddie can be heard straining his voice on higher bits, while even on the last show of the 1981 Japan tour, he sings them easily. The second is a certain piano melody during the soundcheck that Brian plays after the line "It's just as though I hold a flower that touches you". He plays the melody for the first time at the 4/25 show, but not at any of the 1981 shows. Ryan's conclusion is that the soundcheck may come from either 4/23 or 4/24, but mostly likely from 4/23.

Yes, he never went past a D5, but even the D5s weren’t actually a part of a melody. He usually “shouted” or randomly ad-libbed those notes, they weren’t actually a part of the studio version. His most powerful live D5 is probably the one at the end of Now I’m Here in Stockholm 1986 (“GIVE it to me now”).

excellent work men these videos are very good
Personal opinion of the tour:I don't know why but the tone of most of the songs except Somebody to love and you cast them in The Game
I don't like his tone in songs like Killer Queen, e Wil rock you or Tie your mother down and others from the 70s or Elvis's that I don't remember his name
I never like the tone it had in the early 80's but the one in the mid and late 80s and eraly 90s I LOVE it Those two different tones of voice but the one I love most is the one from the late 80's and early 90's

but the general tone of the Game tour and the hot space tour I don't like much the same great compilation of Freddie's range on that tour
the problem is that many cracks are very annoying or they are too noticeable and this worsened in the hot space and something was done every day in The Works but in the Magic they became less annoying and were reduced a little bit

his early 73-77 tone is light, yet powerful
his jazz tone is dark, but he sounds alright when he has decent range
crazy-early game is sorta turning into his macho tone
the game tone is oversung and honestly my least favourite tone, 1st SP still rocks tho
the EU hot space tone is amazing, and my personal favourite
us hs/works is barky but I have a soft spot for it

Actually I wanted to do, after all this 80s stuff, very early Queen, like 73/74.
Maybe due to the lack of recordings I’ll combine Queen and Queen II tours together, even including golder’s green and all these early gigs.
