his voice definitely did change, especially in 80s when he started smoking & then had troubles with the nodes in his throat, then got thinner as he got sicker
@@leiabreen His nodule issues started occurring in the late 70's from over usage at back-to-back concert performances 'n NOT being classically trained.
In fact his voice becomes more and more "dark" over the years and with greater voice control. Just listen to a Live from 1974 and a Live from 1985: you will see that the voice is a little different.
@@danyfilmusic IDK whatcha mean by 'dark' but Freddie did have a greater range that he'd utilized more in his later yrs than his earlier ones. But make no mistake, Freddie sang some of the lowest notes ever from him in Bo-Rhap & All Dead All Dead. He'd also sang Slightly Mad mainly in a lower register. On the flip side, Freddie's upper register tones were lighter earlier on but he'd hadn't yet mastered the falsettos/high full/chest voice with control (at least in studio) until the early '80's. His voice got stronger from The Game on but he'd of course had those pesky nodule flareups during back-to-back concert dates mainly during The Works tour. He'd had that one crack at the very end of their Live Aid set but that crack actually suited the complexion of the set (the way he'd bared his soul that day). Thankfully, The Magic tour didn't have the extended concert dates like most of their previous tours had. I think Knebworth was added on & I believe Bri said they had wanted to extend the tour, but Freddie said no more. Contrary to the reports that Freddie was officially diagnosed in '87, he actually had been tested in Spring of '86 as he'd knew deep down inside he was ill. He'd told Mary coming off the stage at the last concert that he wasn't well 'n that he didn't want to 'do this' anymore. My guess is that he'd told the band members this during the last show 'n it's likely why Deacy's seen throwing his bass at the end. Freddie's vocals only got better 'n better once he'd gotten some very much needed rest, stopped smoking/drinking, & (I believe) received breathing/vocal techniques from Montsy (Montserrat Caballe). She once stated that Freddie had been 'selling the voice' and I can't help to wonder if she'd meant his singing technique he'd been using all of those yrs which were damaging to his vocal cords. Had she taught him proper technique? It makes total sense if she'd had 'cos his voice just got phenomenal from the Barcelona LP on...js.
Sorry, I meant that in the early years her voice was "clearer", but it was simply due to his young age. It is also normal that over the years the voice becomes dirtier and darker.
@PencilllCase technically he was bedridden by then and thus couldn't sing it at the time. His last recording was made approximately sometime between may and October of 1991. I hear alot of various sources saying one date or the other but in November he was basically bedridden and couldn't physically do it at that point.
It seems to me that in the 80's he started to have a thicker voice. After he got sick, I think he stopped smoking and his voice started to sound like he was in the 70s (jazz album style). He sang the songs from the album The Miracle and Innuendo more smoothly.
The 80s voice is more grating on his voice, to me it sounds like he's singing way louder to make it come out with that 'manly' grate + smoking ontop of it. You can hear different his voice is once he stops smoking. On I Want It All, I believe he's doing the same technique used in Fat Bottomed Girls (though by this time his voice is still clear enough because he only just started smoking around this time) but it comes out clearer due to dropping the smoking.
The most impressive thing is that by removing all the ornaments from the music you are left with a beautiful voice, its vocal notes are very very accurate, you could say perfect.
He used more falsetto early on and later opted to go with more of a mix. This was probably because he had vocal nodules and would not have surgery. So he adjusted his style to work around that. His range became a bit more restricted, but his tone got beefier, and he sounded magnificent live even though he often sang differently than he did in the studio. He had laryngitis when he sang at Live Aid and still stole the show. He was always incredible.
If you listen to any of his 90s recordings however, his vocal quality completely reverted back to his 70s style, with even more falsetto, and even more range too. All in all the 90s, in my opinion, was his best (and unfortunately, shortest) vocal period.
And when you couple Freddie's voice returning to his glam rock era AND having the benefit of experience with breathing, his 90's voice was unmatched! Would've loved to hear him sing the songs from Innuendo & Made in Heaven live! That last stage get up was ridiculously too large for him in his failing heath (& he knew it). He would've benefited returning to the smaller, more intimate venues had he'd lived.
I love that his voice is so raw. It’s not always perfect but the passion is unbeatable. Adam Lambert has a trained voice and sings perfectly but the rawness is missing. I cannot and will never stop listening to him. Thanks for the isolation. It brings home all that I adore in Freddie’s voice. In the 70’s he sang using more falsetto. When he lost some of that he could hit higher notes from his chest. All and all it is breathtaking.
My GOD that gave me fucking chills. Without all the music, just his voice and that of the bands harmonies, fucking unreal how talented this man is. I never knew I needed this, this man does NOT need music or extra pizazz to sound absolutely mind blowing. RIP FREDDIE MAN.

Actually, that song wasn't for Mary but for David Minns, the lover whom Freddie left Mary for...sorry. John Reid, Queen's former manager, has disclosed this information.
@@Motown-1966 Yeah, that's never been confirmed nor would it make sense in the context of the song. @@lessalazar9068 I see your point ‘bout the references ‘n how you’ve (& I believe Feebie aka Peter Freestone’s thoughts on the song maybe being written from Mary’s POV). Having said that, Freddie has been seeing other men on Mary for years ‘n he wouldn’t have left Mary if it weren’t for Minns’ ultimatum to Freddie once he’d spent that night at their flat. In his book: “This Was the Real Life,” he indicates that Freddie said nothing was goin’ on between he ‘n Mary but Minns noticed they share a bedroom together & assumed they were intimate. He’d threaten to end their relationship right then ‘n there if Freddie didn’t come clean with Mary ‘n leave her in order to be with him exclusively. They had stopped seeing each other but Freddie had became distraught & eventually did what Minns asked of him. Minns ‘n Freddie met during the recording of ANATO a entire month prior to the completion of the LP. Freddie could’ve easily written LOML with Minns in mind as well. At any rate, Freddie never revealed anything ‘bout his songs is true. Millionaire Waltz is said to be written for John Reid but could’ve very easily have been dedicated to a lover as well. Certainly, Killer Queen was initially said to be ‘bout a prostitute but Eric (I can’t remember his sir name...sorry) of EMI claims the song was written ‘bout him as Freddie had a crush on him but he was str8, therefore, he was a Killer Queen. That he’d used to keep Moet in a cabinet in his office ‘n that he wore his hair in a curly perm like Marie Antoinette. This is fabulous! Freddie’s voice was so unique and a masterpiece all on its own. His range was incredible and his natural vibrato was amazing! I love listing to the A Capella versions. Fabulous!! ❤️❤️❤️
I really love the type of voice that he had in The Miracle, in songs like I Want It All, Scandal ,Invisible man or Breakthru we can appreciate a more mature and rough voice as a result of his state of health at that time
Dallas Aquino idk the timestamp but in bohemian rhapsody when he sings "gotta leave you all behind and face the truth" it sounds like the "face" is sung with subharmonic
This is a spectacular collection... Thank you for finding these gems. Freddie has a voice like no other. So distinctive and beautiful across so many genres. Plus a kind and generous soul. Truly one of a kind. I'm grateful his/Queen's music will live forever. 👑
Me too … hope to meet him … Sometimes I he has been to hell to get the real real music to us … but he is heavenly .. that should be where he comes from … where he truly belongs …
Thanks a million for bringing on only the voice tracks, one can hear every little nuance. First time ever I notice he keeps staying in the head or middle register, almost never going down to the chest positioning. Although he could do it flawlessly (“Exercises in Free Love” keep floating through my mind). Very interesting. Gosh, I’ve been listening to his voice for freaking 25 years, and there are still new things to discover.

80s Freddie sucks in my opinion, very few good songs.

No hablamos taka taka
I really love the type of voice that he had in The Miracle, in songs like I Want It All, Scandal ,Invisible man or Breakthru we can appreciate a more mature and rough voice as a result of his state of health at that time
It's said that he had extra 4 teeth that helped him to sing very nicely
he also had a natural technique using the false vocal cords to compliment his vocal cords
The Night Prowler subharmonic many rock singers use it for distortion
@@user-hy5jy7sf9j can point what part in vid he used subharmonic
Dallas Aquino idk the timestamp but in bohemian rhapsody when he sings "gotta leave you all behind and face the truth" it sounds like the "face" is sung with subharmonic
@@thenightprowler3426 Every good singer do dat
The best period of his voice is 1973-1991 🎤🎤🎤
"Legends NEVER die"
Great video, well put together! He sounds amazing every single year.
Thank you Mackenzie 😊
Eyes perfection
Dear Freddie, I always thought that you sang like angels, and now, you are one of them
WE LOVE YOU
This is a spectacular collection... Thank you for finding these gems. Freddie has a voice like no other. So distinctive and beautiful across so many genres. Plus a kind and generous soul. Truly one of a kind. I'm grateful his/Queen's music will live forever. 👑
There will never be anyone like him. Every time I get excited to listen to him, I hope one day to meet him up there ❤️👑✨
Me too … hope to meet him … Sometimes I he has been to hell to get the real real music to us … but he is heavenly .. that should be where he comes from … where he truly belongs …
Maravilhoso!

He sang with full force right till the end with mothers love. What a voice. Lots freddie impersonators but only one Freddie
It would have been a good example ''Don't try so hard'', really, his voice is so surprising in that song
Even without music all these masterpiece will still be a hit till today
Thanks a million for bringing on only the voice tracks, one can hear every little nuance. First time ever I notice he keeps staying in the head or middle register, almost never going down to the chest positioning. Although he could do it flawlessly (“Exercises in Free Love” keep floating through my mind). Very interesting.
Gosh, I’ve been listening to his voice for freaking 25 years, and there are still new things to discover.
💕😊 Yes, always new things to discover❗
Best band, best voice in history!
this voice... Is Kind a Magic
Always loved Queen from the moment I heard keep your self alive many years ago and I got to see them live at Knebworth Park August 1986. I think that was their last concert. I will never forget that magical performance, truly the most talented band on this earth. I just wish freddy was still here and Queen was still writing playing and singing their music.
God bless you Mr Mercury
You can hear how he learned how to control the tone through the years.
A winters tale really shows his vocals off.
When he sings
"its all so beautiful" i cant stop myself crying.. Every damn time😭
His voice is so perfect and hypnotic that I can listen him every day ❤ I love u Freddie, god , I missssss youuuu😢
freddie mercury is the best of the best
Uff que voz que grande freeddy ❤👑
I kinda want to see 70s freddie singing the 80s and 90s song
It would be possible by voice synthesizer
Would be interesting to see 90s Freddie singing all of the other songs
Closest you'll get to that is listening to Marc Martel. Although, I kind of wonder if as Marc ages if his voice will sound more like Freddie since he does have a slightly lighter voice?
Freddie could do any genre he wanted and make it sound epic!
♥️♥️♥️Freddie mercury, ♥️♥️💙♥️la Voce... 💙💙💙Inimitabile ineguagliabile.. Nessuno mai ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️😢🎤💔🙏
Marc Martel: Jajajaja.
Fabulous!!!!
Thanks 👍

Lorella Riccetti hai ragionissima!
