He may be a bit too old school in mentality. Using the phone isn't the issue, but what you are using it for is the issue.
If someone is using their phone to research, learn, connect, trade stocks or assets in a regular basis, then that is productive on many levels. A smart phone with a smart owner.
Using it to look at pictures, to take regular selfies, to text emoji nonsense, to search for the latest gossip, or to keep up with the latest TV series, then that is an epic waste of existence. A smart phone with a dumb owner.
We are now part cybernetic enhanced sentient beings. Our tricorders are our communication device and link to the global realm of knowledge and information.

The phone is just a tool. If used Right, you have millions of books and as many courses/moocs,etc at your fingertips. If used wrong, It becomes an obstacle. In the end, It's the person who decides how he will use his/her tool.

It’s not my phone. I learn on my phone. My mom broke her neck two times and she drinks. I have to do everything for everyone. I have to watch my mom 247. I love her. If it’s not her it’s something else. Men have it easier! Women have to do all the cooking the cleaning the errands. Being the caregiver, feeding all the animals. Then the animals have special needs. Doing all the shopping. I run all her errands cuz she dos not have a car. When she meets with friends I go. Then my husband can’t shop he makes me do it all. I don’t know what it would be like to have a week to myself. You have no idea until you go through it.
This is not a joke. I intentionally avoided buying a smartphone for years until I had no other choice.
My career and my mental health took a significant deep dive in the following year.
Its not just social media, people. Its the internet, youtube and everything else.
what if we run an online shop... we must check our smartphone many times... to check if ther's any purchasing order... turning off our phones means turning off business..

I sometimes waffle with my opinion on Sharma. Sometimes he has these great ideas, but his way of communicating can come of a bit weird, with the silences and odd choice of words. I can relate because I literally communicate the same identical way. It's not easy when you don't like to talk to begin with and would rather be doing something useful, yet you have to talk to be a part of society. I bet he has had a traumatic or confused childhood, too. I bet his parents moved a lot when he was a kid and he is now stuck in leer when his mind is trying to process thoughts into words. Just speculating, but I can recognize people with those "easily obsessed, easily bored" idiosyncrasies like mine from a mile away. Either way, I still like his content. I listen to it in the background when I do the mundane, repetitive tasks of building my online business.
I feel the real battle with human is with himself ...actually you Mr.Robin made me put my finger on the pain to cure it...
