The "red mess" is tomato sauce or tomato paste and it's a different variation ( the most traditional way) apart from the brown gravy style which is just as delicious if you know the right way to make it. I came here because I want to learn the brown gravy way, i have always used tomato sauce or paste the same way my mother and her mother made it which has always got great feedback on taste,but to each hos own😊
update- i tried it. the meatloaf was really good. I had trouble with the brown gravy though ahaha the flour and butter kept clumping up like i was making a cookie 😂😂@@tennesseenikki

I believe that’s how you spell it, but my late dad used to make this in a cast iron skillet, with pork chops, eggs and homemade drop buttermilk biscuits. He was from the South, and I loved when he made southern style breakfasts. I know it had corn, okra, onions, tomatoes, flour, etc. Thank you in advance! 15:14

I’m blessed with the Meals On Wheels program and they serve vegetable meatloaf with brown gravy. I don’t like meatloaf but this meatloaf with lots of vegetables is so delicious! I see baby lima beans, carrots and everything you cooked. I’m wondering what kind of package that has all those vegetables in it. I’m going to try your recipe to make this recipe!

Banger recipe. My only critique. You added garlic to your bell pepper and onion mixture, and then garlic powder to the raw meat. It would be better to have added more garlic to the pan and not used any powder. The oil in the pan will diffuse the garlic flavor better in the loaf than the granules of powder. The difference would probably be minor, but you loose flavor anytime something is dried and grinded. Better than my grandma's for sure, but she was blind in one eye and couldn't see out of the other. 🙃

Everything you have shown is absolutely packed with flavor, but consider some options that taste good and are healthy like a wrap with southern seasoning or perhaps a southern rice bowl. The more diverse you are, the more eyeballs you draw. Especially with the Tennessee flair. I wish you guys the best. Keep on cooking.
