Love will never do is great video by herb Rits , a great fashion photographer of the 90s. He captured her sensuality with her childish side and her smile is one of the best in Hollywood. She is at her best in this area. Early 90s she is only 23 years old and gives this old Hollywood diva essence. She is a true super star !!
RIP Herb Ritts. He directed the music video of Cherish by Madonna before this, and Wicked Game by Chris Isaak after this, all three of them classics. Also, another Herb showed up - Janet's soon-to-be former boss, Herb Alpert, on trumpet. This Herb is still alive.

I believe it reached the Billboard 100 #1 in February of 1991.

This was a fun week. This video is very representative of that time. The whole supermodel high glam look was in. Madonna was in her Vogue phase and George Michael’s Freedom 90 video was out earlier that year with all of the gorgeous supermodels and this was Janet’s foray into the high fashion world wearing just the black top and jeans. Herb Ritts directed this and he was a huge fashion photographer. This sort of showed Janet in this new sexy grownup way. She was 23 and most of her fans had known her since she was 10yrs old on Good Times and had watched her grow into a teenager on Different Strokes and Fame. This video made it official that Janet was not only all grown up but super hot. 😂
Herb Ritts also directed Madonna's video for Cherish which is also a B&W clip featuring extremely muscular half-dressed men 💪

Fun Fact she wanted Brad Pitt. He turned it down so Antonio Sabato Jr answered the call. This song was suppose to be a collaboration with Prince but there was a conflict in his and her tour schedule. Since Janet Producers are Jimmy Jam and Terry Louise who once worked for prince
apparently antonete sebato was only 18 when he filmed the video. Janet was 24.

Not sure if he was fluent by then. And in an interview, he has commented (re. this video and working with Janet) that he could barely communicate on the set. Don't know if it was just the strong accent, or the language. But he joked about it.
He might have been exaggerating. Who knows.
I always liked the sibs' 'twinning' videos ('Black Cat'/'Dirty Diana', 'Alright'/'Smooth Criminal', 'Escapade'/'Black or White'). Don't know if that was on purpose or they just got influenced by each other. The songs didn't necessarily 'twin' but the videos' styling did to me.📼🎶

Little German autistic me feels compelled to explain that the “circle thing”, the guy was doing stuff in, is called a “Rhönrad” (Rhön is a German region where it was invented). It is a rather niche piece of gymnastics equipment that has different names in English: aero wheel, gym wheel or simply German wheel. It’s really hard to do and you need crazy core control doing it properly. There are gym wheel championships and everything.😊

When Live Will Never Do came out we were like holy smokes. We knew she was pretty but she was stunning and softer too. Her beauty is ridiculous. PLUS she gave us Antonio Sabato Jr. and Djimon Honsou to enjoy too! Love her.

Herb Ritts directed this music vid (highly lauded photographer and video director most famously photograping Madonna and Cindy Crawford in the late 80s and early 90s and later Abercrombie and Fitch in their 90s heyday.
Lots of black and white beauty shots and glossy production aesthetic. It all came across very 90s simple Vogue chic.
This particular music video helped catapult Janet to sex symbol status. It also foreshadowed her infamous 1993 semi nude Rolling Stone cover and her more provocative image on 93's self titled album. 👌🏾

Like many of us she enjoys her treats and snacks, and she puts on the pounds pretty quickly. [check out the Janet Jackson snacking meme ] But then! When it's time to get ready for a tour, or to perform. That discipline kicks in. And whether it's fasting, or exercise, or both. She'll slim down to a size 4 or 2, in like 6 weeks. It's quite amazing really.
