Hands down my favorite Janet song of all time! To many of us familiar with Janet’s incredible legacy of music we know that just as much she is the queen of dance, she can slow it down and give you the absolute BEST romantic/quiet storm R&B/baby makin’ music like no other. And music video visuals are always on point!!🔥🙌
I caught Mikes initial reaction when the music kicked in, and then Joe being mesmerised. I didn’t expect you guys to love it. I was happy to be wrong. One of Janets many amazing slow jams. It’s from the masterpiece Rhythm Nation album. Peaked at #2. One of 7 Top 5 hits from the album. A record that was never broken by any other artist. She has such a diverse discography.
Aww! This song! (Sigh!) 😊 The "snap" sound mixed in with the "raindrop" sound on the drum kick... Then the Spanish guitar played on top?? Chef's kiss 👌🏾Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are GENIUSES!
There is an instrumental version of the song that used to be played on Sunday during sunset on a South African Radio station called Metro FM. It would indicate that the week is ending and Monday is close for work and school. Even today the instrumental is still played on the same station at the same time.
This is not only one of her best songs, it’s one of the best quiet storm songs in general. She has another classic quiet storm track called Let’s Wait A While as well. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Regarding the key, she mentioned this during a Jimmy Fallon interview: "We had so many animals growing up. We had fawn, mouflon sheep, peacocks, giraffe; just all kinds of animals. So, it was my job to feed them, to clean the cages," "That was my chore. It was a working key. So all through school, I wore hoop earrings and I would keep the key on my earring."
I’ve always loved this song. She’s a great vocalist. And the man in the video is actually her ex husband René Elizondo who also supported her in the biggest moments of her career. They were not only married but also great business partners.
Janet Jackson harmonies over late 80s production is so... I never experienced the 80s, but this reminds me of late 90s early 00s summer holidays as a kid, no worries and responsibilities, lazy afternoon/evening naps where everybody's napping but you already woke up and are just staring at the purple evening summer sky on the balcony, that time before you go to the hotel buffet for dinner. That, or those late night car rides home from visiting friends and family. It's so nostalgic sounding.
If you guys ever have spare time, look up Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis who produced all of Janet’s albums from 80s and 90s. They give so much insight into how her albums were made…I have so much respect for her and her artistry
❤ it's from her Rhythm Nation album. That was her husband in the video. The key was to one of the zoo animal cages at MJ's house. That key earring became a really big fad.
This is my favourite JJ song of all time. So I would not have liked you guys if you didn't like it. So glad you liked it. The Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis production with Janets etheral vocals layered on to top is just heaven😇 Also the video is inspired by an amazing but controversial 1970s film called Tango in Paris with Marlon Brando. And the love interest in her video is her ex-husband, which adds to the heartbreak of the song.
Honestly this song is def a weather channel song. I want to be in the early 90s again watching the weather channel in the morning before school with this playing but an extended version with more instrumental.
One of my favorite ballads by Janet. There is also a Spanish version also Called “Vuelve A Mi “. The love interest in the video is her then husband Rene’ Elizondo Jr. He played a huge part of creating her image for the. Rhythm Nation album and up to The Velvet Rope. This video is shot on location in Paris by Dominic Sena .
From her best album in my opinion, and Janet has released some great ones. Before becoming a fan, I had that silly impression that she copied her brother Michael, but actually they’re so different and she’s created her own sound, and it is beautiful. I’m happy you guys are also finding out that Janet is an unique artist.
This intro! Y'all have to remember the song "Bust It Baby" by Plies and Neyo in like 2008. It uses this sample, has the same intro. "Bust it ba-by Ay, can I please talk to my bust it babies real quick homie?" 😂😂😂😂
@@BSu-ym5mo A new “video suggestions here” has been posted. Anyone interested please go to that video and post your lists in the comment section. Please also “like” other lists you think you would enjoy. That way even if your list isn’t in the top4 you will still get to see a list you like. ♥️
I love this song but nothing makes me feel older than hearing you two thinking that Janet arrived in the 90s 😂fml… wait till you get to the “Janet” album ❤
14:35 It's not her front door key but I THINK it is the key to the cages at Neverland, she used to take care of the animals with her siblings haha. This goes back and forth between #1 and #2 top Janet songs for me. Everything about it is perfect.
I think they used what is called the Vaseline on the lens trick. Where you run Vaseline on the camera lens to give it that extra haze look. But don't quote me on that. It's the key to the animal pen. Or it was. During her first couple of albums, she was known than for wearing a key. She told Dick Clark, rest in peace, that she had to feed the animals back home. So to not forget the, she wore it.
Incorrect it was Janet Responsibility to take care of the Animals. So she put the Key on her ear. The Interview is available on RUclips. The Black Panther was clearly inspired by MJ Black or White Video
@@magiciansalchemist3693 APPARENTLY, YOU WERE JUST FEELING A NEED, YOU GOT THAT! ISN'T A LEOPARD AN ANIMAL? NO REALLY, TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED WITH THAT!!!🤣
Hey guys, so I was hoping y'all would do a week 2 for MJB. These videos listed are a bit more storytelling/cinematic. I think you two would enjoy. 1. All That I Can Say 2. Deep Inside 3. Take Me As I Am 4. One ft. U2. 5. Whole Damn Year. All of em are dope. Love the channel btw, been on board with you guys a little over a year now. I always look forward to your reactions to some of our favorite artists. Also, I admire you guys examining of music videos-from fashion, jewelry, locations, etc. Not to mention, y'all are hilarious af frfr. But I hope you guys get around to checking out the list for week 2. Much love & God bless 🙏🏾 🫶🏾🤍 ..
her fiance/exhusband is in the video with her - Rene Elizondo; Rhythm nation spawned 7 top 5 singles, the most from one album of any artist. - Love will never do, Come back to me, rhythm nation, miss you much, escapade, alright, black cat
Hi, I know people ask you to watch so many things, but it would really mean the world to me, other Aussies, and this amazing Aussie singer if you checked out some of her music videos. Cosima De Vito. “Now that you can’t have me” “One night without you” “When the war is over”. Her entire debut album (“Cosima”, from 2004) was written and produced by THE Diane Warren. I know you will love her voice. Cosima is Australia’s Celine Dion. Something different for you guys to watch/listen to. Lots of love and support from Australia, Mark xox
Not sure if "Rhythm Nation" or "Miss you much" is #1 - if the former is #1 then as a bonus I think you all should do ",Miss you much" w/ Chair scene as a bonus. 2 iconic videos.
With Janet there is so much to explore, you could do a top 5 of dance videos, top 5 sexy, top 5 live without overlap and still have hits that you didn't cover. I can't wait to see what #1 is because this was not even on my radar as a possible choice for this weekly top 5.
I'm kind of upset, as Black Cat wasn't on this list. I mean, come on. A Rock and Roll side of Janet. More people need to hear that. Fur me, Again is another favorite. However, the Spanish version on this song and the French version of Again truly showcases Janet's talent. Two sing in 2 other languages is amazing. BTW, Again didn't come out until 93 with her Janet album. I was more maker her talent for singing in 2 languages.
Chris Brown Week Please!!! We have been requesting Chris Brown since early 2023!!!! 1. Kiss Kiss ft T-Pain 2. Turn Up The Music 3. Fine China 4. With U 5. Run It! ruclips.net/p/PLqLrfLbM5FsC1chd8wRpeACByl2NFvmHL&si=Gl-_xGtzLuTLtJza
Nothing beats a Janet Jackson ballad. They're always the best. "Come Back to Me," "Let's Wait a While," "Again," and so many more. all amazing.
In my humble opinion, this is sonically her best song. Vocals, harmonies, production, are all chefs kiss. Pure perfection!
Vocally speaking, I gotta go with either Again or I Want You.
To me that would be “Feels So Right” 😄
That song is so euphoric.
Janet is one of those artists recognized in the business for her background vocals. Especially if she stacks her own voice. Her harmonies are spot on.
It's lovely to see y'all learn in real time how incredible Janet truly is. She's the greatest!
I LOVE Janet. My Mom does too, but this song's lyrics always makes her cry.
Ugh, the '80s were incredible, and her music will forever be timeless.
What you said! I couldn’t agree more! ♥️🎶🎼🎵
yes the best decade hands down
Janet harmonies in the beginning always gave me goosebumps this one of the greatest ballads made.
One of the most played songs by Janet.
I caught Mikes initial reaction when the music kicked in, and then Joe being mesmerised. I didn’t expect you guys to love it. I was happy to be wrong. One of Janets many amazing slow jams. I know I’m not the only one who can’t hear this song without thinking about Plies whispering 🎶buss it baby🎶. 😂
Nah you ain't the only one 😂
Same! 😂
Literally said it to myself lol
Nah, u ain't tge only one

Absolutely Beautiful song ❤
YOU GUYS WILL HAVE TO DO A WEEK OF JANET LIVE, HER LIVE PERFORMANCES ARE 🔥

Yassss…..i absolutely love that one too, Let’s wait a while. It brings me back to my HS innocence days!♥️
I always saw this song and Let’s Wait Awhile as bookends
One of my favorite musical arrangements/productions. Heart strings pulled taut. ❤
Regarding the key, she mentioned this during a Jimmy Fallon interview:

I wonder if Funny How Time Flies will be his number one
Yaasss this is just one of those songs that are truly timeless 💖💖💖
I’ve always loved this song. She’s a great vocalist. And the man in the video is actually her ex husband René Elizondo who also supported her in the biggest moments of her career. They were not only married but also great business partners.
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were Janet Jackson's music producers during the 80s and 90s and early 22000s .
One of my all time time favorite song from her!!!!
Thank you to the chose this song. It's my favrite Janet song evr.

Janet: Yes.

It sure was. All us girls would wear them in HS and college!
You guys are so “late night smooth jazz radio”.❤. I love your voices!!!
This is my favorite Janet song. I was 11 or 12 when it came out. This is perfect for a girl in junior high school.😂😂😂
Was it controversial that she had a latino love interest?
Mike’s stank face be giving me life! 😂🥰
This is one of my favorites. Such a smooth slow dance song.

It's my favorite too. I personally think it's the greatest R&B song ever made. Jam & Lewis arranged this flawlessly.
Honestly this song is def a weather channel song. I want to be in the early 90s again watching the weather channel in the morning before school with this playing but an extended version with more instrumental.

Love her voice ❤
This intro!
Y'all have to remember the song "Bust It Baby" by Plies and Neyo in like 2008.
It uses this sample, has the same intro.
"Bust it ba-by
Ay, can I please talk to my bust it babies real quick homie?"
😂😂😂😂
such a pretty song
My fav of Janet is on my teenage age so 80 '/90 s
I love u guys! ‘Come Back To Me’ is definitely Quiet Storm R&B. I loved the reaction ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
this would be apart of the ' quiet storm ' list of records played.
One of my favorite Janet songs🔥. Neyo and piles sampled this song.
That intro always changes my mood no matter what🧡
That was Janet Jackson secret ex husband of 13’yrs in the video.
Thats jimmy jam & terry Lewis production they’re from the band The Time legendary musicians producers worked so many artists in the industry
That vid was "soft focus" lol. Very popular in the 70s actually. Great song from a great album.
There should be another top 5 of her early works because this is only the tip of the iceberg or a top 5 Janet Jackson choreography video!

0:15 Janet been making mainstream music since 1982 but she didn't majorly broke out into a huge star until 1986.
14:35 It's not her front door key but I THINK it is the key to the cages at Neverland, she used to take care of the animals with her siblings haha. This goes back and forth between #1 and #2 top Janet songs for me. Everything about it is perfect.
What could number one be?? If we’re staying old school could it be Nasty? Escapade? Love Will Never Do Without You?
I think it’s gonna be Nasty even though I wish for Love Will Never Do Without You!
Quiet Storm!
@weeklytop5 Mike!!!!! I Am coloring you a tad sheepish. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Aside from Velvet Rope, 80s Janet is the best Janet! Y'all need to get into Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis! They're where this sound comes from!
Wow.When you began talking about leaving Paris to go to the break up city (London?!😄), I burst out laughing. Loved your reaction 👍🏾
I think it was the key to her snakes cage 😮
I think they used what is called the Vaseline on the lens trick. Where you run Vaseline on the camera lens to give it that extra haze look. But don't quote me on that.

Yall need to do a little mix week!!! they’re amazing
JANET HAD A BLACK LEOPARD WHEN SHE WAS YOUNGER, SHE STUCK THE KEY TO IT'S CAGE ON A HOOP EARRING AND IT BECAME A TRADEMARK OF HERS FOR A WHILE.
Incorrect it was Janet Responsibility to take care of the Animals. So she put the Key on her ear. The Interview is available on RUclips. The Black Panther was clearly inspired by MJ Black or White Video
