I can’t believe someone asked to lower a price that much! 🙈 That happened to me at a market that was definitely not one where people were supposed to barter prices. I made some super cute granny square crop tops for a “hippie fest” market and I had a young girl and both of her parents come up separately asking if I could lower it from $65 to $30-$40 and I kept telling them no. The mom even asked if she bought another small item from me, would I take a certain amount for both and I again told her “I’m sorry, but my prices are fixed in order to reflect the time I’ve put into hand making these tops.” They eventually came back a paid full price 🤷🏼♀️ Don’t devalue your work!! Thank you for sharing your experiences (both good and bad) with us!
Oh my gosh ugh!!! Good for you for staying true to your prices!❤️ & that’s pretty funny they came back and bought it full price! You always learn from interactions like these, thanks so much for sharing! I bet this comment will help anybody who’s been nervous about this happening :)
I appreciate you explaining the bad customers and how to handle it as a business owner. I think it's helpful to show the Good and bad as a business owner. Thanks queen ! You are my new favorite channel
I just absolutely adore you! I had my first ever show this weekend, and watched so many of your videos for help. I had a very successful first craft show, but also had one rude encounter with someone who didn’t like my price of one of my items. And I almost cried but I held it together and I’m glad I didn’t let the one person ruin my day because I met so many wonderful people and had great sales. Thank you for your videos! You are so encouraging, inspirational, and great at marketing. Crocheting helps me so my with anxiety and I was nervous to start shows / a small biz with it because of my anxiety, but you helped give me the confidence!
I absolutely LOVE this! You didn’t let that one person ruin your experience, that is so amazing!❤️ so proud and happy for you!😍 crochet helps me so much with my anxiety too! Thanks for this sweet comment, can’t wait to hear about your further markets!❤️
I love how real and honest you are. This happened to me a lot this year. It seems like every market had at least one person like this. Thank you for sharing this part of going to markets. I don't feel like this is shared enough. Your videos are super encouraging.
I have been doing craft shows for a few years. I have totally encountered the rude customer, as well as the 'I can do that' customer, and the customer that always buys your stuff (usually my mother-in-law). My biggest issue for me is that I have so many items that I sell. I like a pattern, I make a handful of products, then I move on to the next one. It doesn't help that I have ADOS too (attention deficit ooo shiny!). Thank you for your encouragement and motivation for me to keep on keepin' on!
It's definitely hard for me to avoid that pattern of making a few of something cool and then just moving on! There's always so many things I want to try! 😂 Thanks for sharing and thanks for hanging out! :)
You look like youre having so much fun and im having so much fun watching you interact with ppl, but this is also like a nightmare for an introvert like me 🤣🤣 i wouldnt even know how to greet people 🥲
Did you know you can develop the extroversion for your day of sales ? I’ve known several salespeople who started as introverts and developed the skills to be very good with people and conversation. Start small, always focus on the other person, not yourself, ask questions, be positive! Appreciate others and find something to compliment in everyone you meet. Good luck and enjoy the challenges and personal growth!
Thank you this! I agree, you just need to not let the rude people get you down, or the people who want to spend next to nothing for what you make. I always find it amazing the people who talk about your product to the person they are with as if you aren’t even there. Hello, you know I can hear you. 😉
Loved how your table turned out, totally could not tell you had low inventory! It's so hard not to focus on that one person when everyone else is so great and encouraging😫 I do that all the time... but I love how positive you are! Hope 2023 is amazing for you and your biz!
I would love for you to do a video on Square! I'm grateful you told us how you dealt with that negative experience. It is easy to feel guilted into lowering your prices, but as another crocheter said, a lot of time goes into making these products. It's not like it's getting popped off of a machine in 2 minutes.
Cute video ! I watch your IG all the time and love your energy ...and how much you care to help us all crocheters ... Even from a "not so good day", we all get to learn 😊🧶. Hugs !
This is a really valuable video. Your positive attitude is so refreshing and really does go a long way. It's so hard when people make comments on price but are willing to go to shops and pay much more for label goods that's mass produced. Your stuff is amazing and I love that you spend so much time and energy helping others like this. Great job 👏 👍
I think it's also important to remember that some cultures are much more accustomed to bartering than we are. People attempting to barter might not be intentionally trying to be rude or insulting. They were just raised to do it. Doesn't mean you should be open to bartering. Keep prices firm. I'm just hoping that helps it feel less negative for you.
I love all of this!!! Such great tips! I'd love to hear about how you find markets and what kind of things you need for your first market/starting your small business!
I love the way how everything was set up. It did not look like you had low inventory. Good job I am going to start doing pop-ups. I do have a online store, but I am really searching for the connection in the interaction with the customer and getting my brand out there more II am learning everything that I can I love all of your information that you give to us I have been crocheting for a long time and I will be retiring, so I am really focusing on the passion that I love to make it a business. Thank you for all of your help❤
Would love to know more about the square reader and all that! Did you start with it at your first market? Or is it something you invested in with time ?
Love this video. I am so happy I am not the only one feeling the same way before an event! How much do you sell your baby beanies? I go by how many pompoms are added to the beanies. My baby beanies start out at 20$ as a regular and then go up 6$ per Pom. Does that work for you also? Thank you again for the Scrunchie pattern, it has become a best seller for me also. Wish we could do an event together!
Oh my gosh an event together would be so fun!!!❤️ My baby beanies start at $25 but I don’t charge additional for each pom! I just keep them the same price for one or two poms :)
Hello!! I just binged watched all your videos. I think all the information you're putting out there is really beneficial. Some videos on RUclips have become repetitive. I even stopped your video to make a tag with you from your DIY tag video. As a newbie I would love to have a video where you explain your spreadsheet, skw# process, and especially your Square items. I really love all your videos, I'm patiently waiting for Fridays now and constantly looking on Instagram what new post you've posted. You're doing great work here. If you ever put out a workshop I'll gladly purchase, you're genuinely so informational. Keep it up.
You are so kind, Andrea! Thank you so much for leaving this comment, seriously made my day!🥰❤️ So glad you’ve been loving the videos, I absolutely LOVE making them! I’ll definitely have some products coming out this year to dive deeper on some of these topics! 🥰 can’t wait to share❤️

Hi! I just discovered you the other day, and I love your videos. My first video was actually about the square. I am looking at turning my hobby into a business, and you have provided a lot of great information. I may have a few questions, but for now, I wanted to know where you buy your wooden crates? Loving your setup.
Thank you for sharing this video. I just started selling at markets (I've done 2 so far). I'm still learning and appreciate your insight. In Florida, we have markets year round. Do you have suggestions for products to sell and setup ideas for 90 + degree weather?
Thank you so much for the kind words! The most effective method of market discovery is word-of-mouth from other vendors. I realize, though, this doesn't really help you find your first one! I would recommend a quick Google search of nearby markets, or even exploring around your area on a nice day to see if there are any lots with people set up in! Also, many markets and vendors set up Facebook groups, so looking around their is a good idea, too!
I have a question I’m thinking about adding more items aside from crochet to my business. It’s currently crocheted items along with beaded ones. I want to add more like faux fur ears/tails and maybe cat toys. I’m just not sure if it would be too much variety of mediums to add or not. And possibly other things including art/art commissions, stickers, and pins.
Hey there! I totally encourage you to pursue different crafts you're interested in! I will say, though, that you might not want to mix too many types of crafts/arts together in a display if they aren't aesthetically/thematically connected. If you're wanting to bring two or three different fields of products (e.g. crochet, fur items, and art & commissions) I would suggest you clearly separate them into sections on your display. You might also want to consider increasing the sizer of your display to accommodate that! Even if everything is thematically the same, you still want to group them with like items! TLDR; The more different types of items are, the more separated they should be! Never hesitate to reach out with any questions over email, too! :)
@@camryns_cute_creations alright! Ya I’ll definitely separate them. Ty for the advice :) I’ll try to reach out for help over email next time if I remember It would be very off if I had everything just mixed together and annoy me lol.
