The lone remaining Vanderbilt fan walks into a bar with his dog, both of them dressed in Vanderbilt colors. They start watching the game, and as usual, Vanderbilt is getting crushed. Finally, late in the fourth quarter and trailing 49-0, Vanderbilt manages to kick a field goal. The dog barks excitedly, jumps into the air and does a triple backflip before sticking the landing. He then sits down next to the man and resumes watching. "That was incredible!" the bartender says. "What does he do if Vanderbilt scores a touchdown?" "I have no clue," the man replies. "I've only owned him for three years."
I miss it man fr we had potential, I remember being at the game beating Tennessee, fans were showing up, we havent had that in 7 years when we started 3-0, now our stadium is opposing color every game and we've not got anything, but we did upgrade the stadium this offseason and we've got a fun sophomore QB along with a top of the SEC CB
On a more serious note, Vanderbilt had a decade of dominance about a century ago. 1921: 7-0-1 1922: 8-0-1 1923: 5-2-1 1924: 6-3-1 1925: 6-3-0 1926: 8-1-0 1927: 8-1-2 1928: 8-2-0 1929: 7-2-0 1930: 8-2-0 Total: 71-16-6, a winning percentage of .796 (all seasons under Dan McGugin)
@@SpecialTeamsSchool Of course, a lot of people just don’t remember that when Marylands Ralph Freidgen was fired, Randy Edsall didn’t want any of Ralph’s staff when he took over in 2011. So, James Franklin took them with him to Vanderbilt.
Great video! Maybe Clark Lee can lead Vandy back to success. I know it will be a slow process though. Good to see the school finally putting money into the football program
I've never thought Vanderbilt was a great FOOTBALL SEC team, but they've always been good, if not great at all the otber sports. They're absolutely great at Baseball, and they're starting to be OK in the football SEC way of life haha. I'd bet they're going to be better than Mizzou or MSU in the coming years, so yeah don't quite call Vandy out. They're so much better than a lot of other programs.
EAch year I keep a eye on Vandy to see how they do. I was seeing promise after that 2022 Season where they won 5 games compared to 2. But the Transfer Portal took away all their good players and went back to the bottom. Maybe one day they will be back.
1948--Grantland Rice wrote at the end of the season that Vanderbilt may have been better than Michigan and Notre Dame as the season closed. After starting 0-2-1, they won their last 8 games by major blowout scores. Georgia refused to play them in the Orange Bowl, so Texas replaced the Commodores. Since 1960, in 63 seasons, Vanderbilt has two years with winning SEC records and more 0 or 1 win conference seasons than all the other SEC schools combined.
With all due to respect, during that time span, Vanderbilt was shy to have a 10-win record for the first time in the history of the school and the sport that its athletics program has had; but not once, but twice. Hence finishing 9-4 on those seasons (being 2012 and 2013).
@@SpecialTeamsSchool I said shy, as in, Vandy almost making to that single-season milestone from a standpoint of total wins. And I was referring to that point as a "what if...?", if that makes sense. But then again, we know how the SEC East (and the SEC in general) is very fairly competitive to try to get to the top of it, while winning all of its non-conference games in the process.

Hahaha. Hopefully better times ahead!!
Not funny
Can confirm. When Vanderbilt scores a first down it’s cause for celebration
James Franklin had Vanderbilt football competitive and respectable.
It was crazy how good he had them!

It's crazy how quickly the program fell after Franklin left. Really shows how important he was. Thanks for watching.
Only halfway through the video, but man gotta say I really appreciate this videos quality. Good stuff! New sub.
I appreciate that a ton! Look forward to making more vids for yall!

Oh yea I totally saw that. That era of football is so different though, but winning is winning nonetheless!
Great video! Thank you for documenting the three greatest years of my Vandy fan life.
I lovedddd the James Franklin era. Was soo good!
People never acknowledge this but, when Franklin went to Vanderbilt he took the maryland staff with him. (Franklin worked in maryland 2010)
Hmm I didn't know that. Thanks for that tidbit of info!

Quality content! Keep up the good work, sir. Thanks for making a great video.

Thanks a ton! Appreciate the support!
Awesome video I never knew Vandy was actually good - hoping they can get back to this.

I hope so. It's so fun when Vandy is a underdog upset threat!
My grandpa was a fan in the 1940s. Vandy won a National Championship in 1922. I will subscribe. I was at that Elon game.
i was at he Music City Bowl.
Franklin had the fans thinking he'd stay and win.
Just wait. The time will come eventually.
NICE VIDEO
Yesssirrrr!

You are so right, they are really good at other sports. It's wild! Thanks for the view!

Did I say that they captured a 10 win season? If so, my bad for the mistake!

More videos like this!!!!!
Yesssirrr. Got some more college football content on the way!
I'm only 57. I wasn't born then.
Thanks for the view!
I kicked Vandy and Kentucky out of the SEC on CFB25 lol
Vandy let James get away
Hard to recruit guys who are in the top of their class and bench press 400 pounds so to speak
No one remembers when Vanderbilt was good. Everyone who was alive during that time is dead.
Vandy was ok because everyone else was beaten up (Florida and Georgia) and Tennessee was in turmoil from the Kiffin debacle. Nice try though!!
