- Valravn God of Illusion Boss Fight in Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice.
Valravn is the first boss in Hellblade.
At the start of the game take the left path to fight this boss (if you go right you'll encounter Surtr God of Fire, but you'll have to fight both of them anyway).
This boss isn't too difficult. Some attacks can be parried with a well timed block (press R2). The boss likes to throw projectiles at you from a distance. A quick way to close the gap is to press X, which makes you dodge forward. You can also dodge sideways to counter Valravn's jump attacks and then attack with a few heavy attacks from behind.
During the fight some smaller enemies will spawn. As soon as the spawn use the X - Square - Square - Triangle - Triangle to kill them instantly (if performed correctly, Senua dashes forward and performs a quick stab combo).
Remember you can change the difficulty in game options at any time. If you get knocked on the ground press X very quickly to get back up.
During the last phase you must press R2 to use your vision and make the boss vulnerable. If you don't do it the boss will appear as a shadow shape and won't take damage from your attacks.

First game where Easy difficulty level feels like Legendary

this is so easy I think. You should play dark souls.
when they tell you to focus, you can actually focus during the combat and make every enemy 100% vulnerable for a short period of time, you'll also see a blue symbol that pops up at the bottom of your screen sometimes, that's a queue that you can use it. it's especially useful in boss fights as they'll turn invincible and shadowy
Yeah this was the only way to kill the shadowy mode bosses

I thought for a second after only not able to defeat him in last phase for so many trials thats the part i parry for so long and still couldn't defeat him it was frustrating until i focused on the voices and actually tried to focus lol

The best way to kill him easily is to block in the right moment when he throws one or the two daggers at you. One of them will be deflected back at him and knock him out for a moment. That's when you can give him good hits with your sword and easily finish him off. When he jumps at you it's far better to roll to the side and attack him when he lands.

That focus thing sure worked miracles. Did not realize whenever focus was said you could slow time. That sure closed the gap between the bird and me quickly. Plus it heals you it seems.

Same. I found myself parrying easy but on a first try having those unstoppable attacks that won’t do anything but stagger you just sucks. Awesome game but the fights are too far apart in between to stay fluent with the simple yet timely animated combat system. Still love this frustrating game
@@sulfur919 I found this tricky as well. You cannot defeat him by dodging only you need to parry too is what I found.
@@frankdahl7838 You are absolutely right my friend and funny thing is, this was when I finally found out about the slow-mo feature 😂. Helped me finish this fight in a fraction of the time I spent on my first attempt.

you have to parry it, which requires very specific timing though, so it's easier to just dodge

Parry is much fun to do then dodge if you learn it .i just felt really powerful while doing it as if i own the enemy and he is having a tasteful of dirt .lol
I didn't even know it was possible to parry his charging attack.
I died five times before I barely defeated him. Damn, I felt those blows.
Hellblade is the perfect example for an relative simple and easy fighting game but still damn entertaining and satisfying. Like the fighting is so basic and simple and in the end I found it quite easy, but it feels too satisfying to defeat the bosses, yes even the normal enemies. The voices in your head and the feel how Senua is really fighting to survive makes it so immersive that is was just awesome.
Everytime the voice yelled „focus!“ I had to picture The Rock yelling that in the gym. xD

Dude this has got to be some of the best combat I’ve seen.
When i fought this guy last night for the first time, the camera glitched out and went backward. Couldnt see anything in front of me. Thought it was intentional because of the illusions but i think it added to the experience. At that point i had his attacks timed so i kicked his ass without even seeing him

Just found this game and super happy with the boss fights so far.

I realised you could block attacks. I was just trying to dodge the whole time
I was going to say - I saw everyone saying “focus” on here but didn’t realize until a fit of rage where I hit R2 that you can use focus in combat as well.
After googling I realized how much easier my life would have been if I had used it 😂 to anyone playing now - use focus.
I thought the voices saying "focus" was just a part of the dialogue 😐..
Damn! I want to play this again now. I'll wait for Hellblade 2 though, and play this again just before release.

Which difficulty is it? It took me more hits to take down his henchmen.
Seems like easy mode, I played it on hard mode and it took forever, felt like it was double this time
After this fight i started to listen to the voices for real lol ,i used to ignore them until this fight ,but i learnt the hard way

I must say, at first I though this will feel like GoW. Then it felt like smoking weed while you are lost in Valhalla
So I did this boss while streaming on discord, and I was really quiet and sweaty, because I was focussed as all hell. I defeated it first try and I was like: 'Hell yeah dude, did you see that!'. And my friend responded with: 'Sorry, what? I was watching youtube.' ....It hurts.
I wasted so much time trying to fight the shadow. Lol when u focus it brings him back
True that I fall asleep watching it but the trophy sound wakes me up and the last view looks nice .

took me 3 attempts for him, on third i figured out I can parry so you can parry his swings and if you get a perfect parry (time it right) then he staggers for a bit, roll for his jump attack and parry the blades which deal damage to him haha ive played too many Dark Souls games lol hyped for ELDEN RING: dlc!

yeah if you don't get hit against some enemies, the game difficulty turns into hard while set on auto mode.

*Heavy > Heavy > Fast > Fast > Fast.* That is what seems it was used in this footage.
Alternatively you can *Fast > Heavy > Heavy > Fast* for the same final effect.

Wow, All this time playing up to this point and I never knew there was a button to block! No wonder this fight was way to damn hard for me lol! I have only got up to the smoke version of him thinking damn the fighting mechanics absolutely suck, you just aren't equipped to fight well.
So whatahell did you do to make him come out of his "smoke form"????????

Blocking is very important. A well-timed block creates a parry, which makes your subsequent attacks more potent.

i was in your shoes 2 years ago when it was released, i bought it for my brother and i never touched it as i didnt like what i saw while my brother was playing...but few weeks ago i was going through my old games and i found it and i wanted to play a game that is lengthy, so i put the disk and i played that game for a complete month, almost 200+ hours spent on it, got all of the achievements and completed the whole game..i got sucked in and now i adore everything about the witcher :D
i always say ppl differ in taste, but give this game a 2nd chance and i am sure u will like it

if only the games block move worked when it was supposed to and things were not random or game elements crashing then this game wouldn't be that tricky. Moves/ timing in this video are not representative of movement on my play through

This boss was way to hard and long for being the first damn boss! I was playing on normal and it felt like nightmare mode lol

You can get the plat 1st playthrough if you keep an eye out for all lorestones (the only optional trophy) + they tell cool stories, about 6 hours to finish.

This fight takes forever in hard mode, my crazy ass has to always take it to the limit. This was a 7 minute fight. On hard mode it felt like 20.
Btw it’s not that harder on hard mode you just have to block or parry more. The enemies are not ultra aggressive or anything. It is intense though because of the atmosphere.
my fight was 10 min. He only fight 5 is this easy mode or i was too slow. i dont know my diffuclty because when i check what is it. i saw the auto difficulty and i didnt change it is anybody know what is auto btw. i mean is this good or bad

Difficulty only changes fight time. It doesn't make them slower. If you play this game on 30 fps, you will never beat this boss probably. I'm talking for PC because if you get less fps your movements getting slower and you will never be able to dodge-block. What an idiot fight mechanic.
This is on easy mode. The game is much more intense than this kids settings. Amazing game to play I highly recommend it

A valravn is a supernatural Raven which feeds on the corpses of men slain in battle.
I play in Hard Difficult and just dodge everything, my block button is out of use xd. Is way funnier and harder to dodge.

Natanael Rodriguez powerpyx is known to be giving honest and accurate reviews, so why shouldn't people ask for it?
Platinumed the EU & US version, was enjoyable.
In the early game it's too much walking and too many puzzles. Combat is underused (but when you get to fight enemies it's great). Loved the boss fights! I think they should have replaced some puzzles with fighting or added an arena mode. Got just a tiny bit boring when there weren't any fights for an hour. The gorgeous graphics kept me interested in it. One of the best looking console games to date. Hope the game sells well, the devs deserve it.
