      All 727 cargo's still flying have half the cockpit in glass. The videos are on Just Planes and Just Flight ok??? This thing has it in 1967 analogue and is NOT accurate at all for how they are flown now.

    Yep, Krueger flaps droop without hydraulic power. I worked on a lot of them as a mechanic for Eastern Airlines, back in the 1980s. After Eastern went out of business, I moved to another major airline (UPS) where a guy I worked with had worked at a third airline , where he had the unfortunate experience of being on a ladder, looking into the open flap area on the leading edge, when someone turned on the tagged-out hydraulic system and pinched the guy's head in the flap. Even though hydraulic power was removed almost instantly because people were yelling in the hangar, he became unconscious and wound up falling off the ladder as the hydraulic pressure bled down and released his head. Luckily he was fine with only bruises everywhere, mostly from the fall.

      What an amazing and unfortunate story, I am glad to hear the enginner was OK. Indeed we are incredibly careful before pressurising hydraulics for this exact reason, but of courses the procedures only came around because of unfortunate incidents that we learned from. Thank you for sharing.

      @@JohnDuffy-c3t Not really. Just the ground interconnect on the engineer's panel needs to be open. It would not be uncommon to just leave that open in the hangar until they were closing up the airplane.

    I bought this. It's generally excellent. The excellent automatic crew member checklists might make it the plane I end up flying the most, as you can basically get it to the runway from cold and dark the quickest of any airliner yet (without feeling like you're cheating with an 'engines running' start).
    There is one caveat, however, that drives me crazy, there is an audible cockpit sound loop that contains a few seconds of a totally different sound. It kind of goes from fan noise to a few seconds of electrical transformer hum, which suggests it was taken from a recording from a phone camera or microphone that was moving around or out of the cockpit. I have no idea why they didn't cut those last few seconds out. Once you hear it it you can't unhear it, it's unlike any other module, such a shame because the sounds are otherwise pretty good. Why would the sound change when your head is stationary? It's audible in this video if you can spot it.

    • @daver7465
      @daver7465 3 месяца назад +3

      Agree, the transformer hum is very loud. Hopefully should be an easy fix for them.

    • @payt01
      @payt01 3 месяца назад +1

      I know what you mean, and it's actually stopping me from buying this plane until there's and alternative soundset, or an improved one from the dev. I'm a stickler for sounds, and something like this is going to drive me crazy :)

    • @facethefaceandmore44
      @facethefaceandmore44 3 месяца назад +1

      @@payt01 Yep, there’s ‘sound loops’ and there’s Sound Loops. I once met a random woman in a pub and I pointed out how I liked the fake battery powered candles. She said “so did I until I realised the flicker pattern is on a loop”. Once you saw it, they were ruined forever. This is like that x1000. Even a tiny barely audible pop like in the LES Saab 340 for Xplane is enough to destroy it for me.

    I had a lot to do with the old 727s, - the 100a, 300s and 200s QC, which could do passengers during the day and freight at night.- way back in the late 60s, early 70s. I was a load controller then. They were a magnificent machine and the pilots, in those days, really knew how to "fly" an aircraft. Just regarding the modelling, we all love an accurate external model but the operation and the cockpit are, to me, more important. Another great video thank you.

    I have no idea if you'll see this or not but hi, I had a couple of questions about the INS system and by extension CIV-A. For one, during a flight with the CIV-A, I see a lot of people track vors to fly to their destination. My question is what did it do? Is it like a more primitive version of the modern mcdu or something? I'm just a little lost on what it actually did compared to vor flight and what it and ins did in gerneral. If you can answer that would be great and hope you have a good day!
