Thank you for making this! As someone who is a massive titan fall fan it's cool to see the whole story. What a wild ride. I want tf3 so badly =( Great video peg and saint!
Titanfall was epic.. The way it played, the way the story was folded into the multiplayer matches (Until it lost players to the point it was impossible to get matches in the right order), the way you could think "I want to be up in that tower" and after some wall running, strategic jumping and a vault, you were up there! Astounding concept driven into the mud in the name of corporate profits and hacker skullduggery. I'll never forget the cries of "Smart Pistol is OP!" on the forums, when anyone worth his salt wouldn't stay still long enough to die to one repeatedly. I adored the story of Titanfall 2, but felt the multiplayer added too many new mechanics, the grappling hook on top of all the other movement mechanic made my head spin, but the mechs were cool and the guns were crisp.. Until I uninstalled because the hacking situation was so bad even single player was barely safe. RIP Titanfall.. Maybe I'll get a Gundam game with your mechanics and relive the glory.. One day.
I was start watching (going to finish it later when I came home) and one thing you missed to mention that Vince Zampela was also original creator of Medal Of Honor Allied Assault before Call Of Duty. That also the story is very interesting.
Thanks for this, it filled in so many holes in my understanding of all of this bull. It's pretty nuts that you only just played it too, but I feel you. I only got to it a few years ago and felt so damn disappointed that it was already dead. I didn't know about Northstar though...
I'm a G30 pilot and in my opinion, the game was never going to succeed even if it had a perfect launch. It released during an era where movement in fps games wasn't as widely accepted as it is today and it has such a high skill gap between players that only players who are hyper invested in the game like myself stick around to keep it "alive". Granted the Atomic Bomb didn't help, but the game wasn't exactly thriving in 2020 either.
kinda cool to see ya do a vid about something i had been so interested in for years! I think this entire saga is such a wild butterfly effect for gaming. Been reading about this on the internet for so long when IW first started having drama with Activision👍
I don't play online games. I bought Titanfall 2 for the offline single player campaign which was excellent. It kills me they won't be making more offline single player content.
Even though this format nets you less views than average, im so fuckin pumped that you do them. Not only is it a breather from the regular shazam, but the production quality is so good I gotta keep it 100 wit chu
simple story was during the concept phase of tf3 they started playing a in house demo that they couldn't stop playing and that turned into Apex and it was just an easier and more interesting product to make and Apex Does still have serious hacker issues as we can see just last year even ALGS was hacked live. the hackers were at least telling the truth about that. and its still going on and apex has just recently lost about half of its daily players.
Pretty decent video, not too many inaccuracies (p0 did not doxx Jeanue, he was just being a geek figuring out how the game worked). Good stuff dude. But there will be (kinda) new TF with TFO eventually
@@l0s78yes. He does. “About actual Jeanue” section of the response document in the “TL:DR” section it reads “call this person from a burner number…” he then goes into further detail. There is a literal entire section about Jeanue and how p0 claims to directly confront him and says he verifies this to himself as IP crosschecking against the hacks and the information he has being in the same neighborhood geographically Please stop passively insulting me as if I didn’t do my homework
@ I can assure you that he did not write that section, this is not passive aggressive insulting. I wrote it. I’m not sure p0 really wants the credit for that particular section, it’s pretty grey area and not looked upon highly.
other than your reply saying as such, I have no way to validate that this claim is true. Second, you could've easily stated this in your initial response to my rebuttal. Ie "no he never states that. I was the author of that section. I was the one that called him", but you didn't. I'm not sure why you remained as vague as you did here... Lastly, the document reads as it if it was written by a single person, and much like the "jeanue hacking" debacle it sounds as though there is more than 1 person at play for all of this, even though there are multiple attempts to make it sound like a singular entity. The entire thing reeks. Honestly, it doesn't much matter whether p0 penned that section himself or not. The fact remains that "jeanue was doxxed and confronted" per the document and no one knows if that's actually true because there is no proof of that actually occurring outside of a "trust me" statement from people that have already shown themselves to be untrustworthy.
I have picked up titanfall 2 in a sale for 3euros, I had the game on my wishlist for so long but after Luke from Linus Tech Tips mentioned it on the wan show and it was on sale I pulled the trigger. I played through the entire story in 1 sitting because I could not let go of the keyboard and mouse. Best 3 euros ever spend on any game. I have and will bug friends to play titanfall 2's story.
i remember when i played Titanfall 2, i was utterly enthralled. and the ending............... OMG the fucking ending. here is the best way i can describe it and for me, this is the highest level of praise. you know when you played the Halo games, they were bombastic, your heart is racing, your glued to the screen, your mind is reeling from the utter, sheer dopamine hits and its pure epicness? THAT is the ending for Titanfall 2. the ending is so good it can easily stand toe to toe with ANY of the Halo games. literally every single one and be equal or better. THATS the ending. thats how.......goddamn.......fucking.......good.......it.......is. Titanfall 2 is a giant within the games industry that sadly, we may never get again(and if im being honest, considering the heavily political way EA is right now........... even if they decided to revive it, it might end up being garbage story wise). i wish we could of got a third. they shouldve spent money advertising it. and the entire time i was watching this video, listening to you describe the hackers, i didnt see people that cared about the game or wanted another............. i saw utterly selfish, greedy people that the entire time pushing to get a boat load of money, were hacking everything, all so they could get hired and would probably demand HUUUUUUGE paychecks. these people didnt give a crap about the game or the franchise. they just wanted to make money and were willing to tank a franchise even further to try to get it and when it was beyond return, they moved on cause they didnt "grow up", but because they realized it was not coming back, there was no point in continuing to try, so they moved on cause the chances of them making money were zero
Damn. I was a massive Titanfall fanboy growing up. I seriously used to daydream my own Titanfall matches when I wasn't able to play. I've always questioned what tf exactly happened to the ip, it's nice to see the whole story. This sucks though. We really are living in the worst timeline.
If any Respawn devs see this, you made one of my favorite games of all time. 2nd only to Skyrim. It will absolutely go down in history with fond memory. I hope we get a 3rd, but maybe one day we'll see it... The day after HL3. ❤💔
Its sad but i doubt we will ever get titan fall 3. Tf2 was amazing i prestiged 8 times and enjoyed every moment of it no rage or nothing just pure enjoyment. Apex kill titan fall its bigger brother 😢
I played Titanfall 2 on release... I was immediately hooked. CoD fatigue had set in that year, and Infinite Warfare was ABSOLUTELY HATED. That year it was the MOST DISLIKED video on RUclips. Also being sandwiched between "Major Releases", and barely advertised at all. The Titanfall series never died, it was murdered...
I streamed titanfall2 for a time, and everytime i decide to reinstall and play (despite eas garbage launcher) i have so much fun. If the did release a 3rd one, id buy it, fall in love. And hope it didnt have TOO many microtransactions. Much love for covering one of my favorite games and what i cinsider to be the true COD killer.
I love youtube essay content. This could have been a 2 minute video with "Money, Apex made damn near a billion and so did Jedi Fallen Order, so those were the priorities.
I was sure we knew why SBMM exists, engagement farming and retention. We were given documented evidence to back up claims of it working and saw a game like X Defiant die with its biggest selling point being no SBMM.
Honestly titan fall 2 is a great example of what happens to games with no sbmm. The sweats and cheaters drive everyone away who isn't competitive until nobody is playing the game anymore. This is backed up by Activision's sbmm white paper.
But all that being said, Titanfall 3 is still not irrelevant. If they modernized it I think it would still be REALLY fun. There was magic in that game for sure.
I just got around to playing tf2 a few weeks ago as well! Although I have played apex for a couple hundred hours prior. It's truly a shame what happened to this franchise. I wish you had talked a little bit more about the slow but gradual "downfall" of apex, and how it started shoving more and more ludicrously overpriced microtransactions down your throat at every turn, most of which were just recolors of old existing skins. One of the worst parts of this is the heirlooms (and how the legend that gets them is suddenly buffed the same patch it comes out, strange) you have a 0.045% (about 1 in 2222) chance of opening one per apex pack, but you are guaranteed one every 500 packs. each pack is 100 coins, 1000 coins is about $10 USD, meaning you need to spend a maximum of $500 USD before you get a single heirloom. Of course you can grind the leveling system and get one entirely for free, even earlier than the 500 if you're really lucky, but there are, at the current time, over 20 heirlooms (some of which are recolors btw) of which you can get a single one every time you unbox heirloom shards (in which case your 500 counter resets to 0), and then you start to see the problem. Another example is the battle pass: it cost you 950 coins, and if you completed it 100% you ended up with a few hundred more than you started with, so if you played enough, the next season's battle pass was already paid for, and some extra that you can save up for a skin you really like (or spend on packs). They tried to change this so you had to buy it every season, but they got so much backlash that they had to revert it, just shows that they're testing how much the player base is willing to take before they start seeing numbers drop. They also added another premium currency, the exotic shards, which you can use to buy some really cool reactive skins, which are skins that evolve when you get more and more kills, these used to be BP max level rewards, but the community wanted certain ones to be brought back because of iron sights and looks. Well each of these exotic shard skins cost about $40 or $50 USD depending on where and how you buy them, and may I remind you, this is for a single skin!! You can get 10 of these shards per battle pass, towards the later rewards, and you need 50 for one of those skins, so you need to play 5 seasons straight to buy one skin for free (or you know, pay the price of a AAA game for an ingame cosmetic). I'm not sure which is worse, the transparency with the exotic shards, or the "you could get it earlier AND cheaper if you're really lucky :)" mentality of the heirlooms. Regardless, EA's corporate greed has affected Respawn heavily with the development of Apex Legends, and I have seen many people leave permanently because of this game's mismanagement. And it just sort of rubs salt into the wounds of old Titanfall fans that this is what ended up being favored over their beloved games, and how it has devolved to just sucking every player's wallet dry. Even worse is that this is now the AAA industry standard :/ Sorry for the long comment, but I felt like this fits the topic and is also relevant information about how this "story" continued in the end. Incredible video Onepeg, always great to see you branch out into other content outside of DaD, and this one was a banger! (also, 19:13 Nexon jumpscare)
Crazy. Just started the watch. But i was serious about a year ago into TF2 when they fixed a bunch of stuff out of nowhere and there was all kinds of hype of them doing a third series title. Was a bunch of nonsense. But i was still looking about 4 days ago if any news had come up. This should be a good one.
I was wondering why you were covering this now thinking it was after that video of the pro apex player that lamented the direction of the game and the chokehold the upper management has on developers. But it's just cuz you finally played it, I know the feeling.
I'm just confused why someone would spend so much time hacking a ruining a game that they play. It's just evil or sad. What a world we live in that allows so many people who two generations ago would have died of dysentry, live and be evil.
From most coders I’ve spoken to, it was usually just for fun/cuz they could, but p0 is a South Korean likely working as a contractor for Nexon and had motive to mess w/ the game
SBMM is, statistically and anecdotally, better. I work in the industry, shooters specifically, and SBMM is a contentious topic, not about it's results - but about how gamers feel about it, and it's impact on having a sense of "skill progression"
Infinity Ward didnt create the first 4 cods. Treyarch literally made COD 3, then was COD4 by IW, then WaW by Treyarch, then MW2. Modern Warfare was the 4th cod, thats why its called Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare lol
19:35: No. H1Z1 was a shit show of game development, but the Battle Royale genre really grew out of Minecraft server scripts/mods and Player Unknown's work on the game mode for Arma 3. It lived in that space for literal years before any dedicated development teams were making actual games around it. I know this because I absolutely despise the genre, which grew out of my single most played Steam game of all time, rivaled only by DCS: World.
Eh, I don't feel that sad. I liked Titanfall 1, but didn't gel with TF2 at all. Especially the customization was too restrictive in my opinion compared to the first game, with cvertain skills being tied to certain outfits and robots, instead of having the free mix and match the first game had.
I think titanfall 3 will still come out but it wont until the studio needs a safe new game that they know will bring them in a ton of money hopefully though it wont release with every other massive fps game
Titanfall was so much better than modern cod and battlefield! The single player was also fantastic. Apex legends feels like neutered Titanfall. Ea is the worst
Not to be doom and gloom, I absolutely LOVE Titanfall 2. It’s quite literally changed the course of my entire career. However The only way I can see us finally getting Titanfall 3 is if the fans essentially force respawn to make it out of desperation. That or have someone that wants to get rid of all the woke shit, and just make games fun again, like Elon Musk, completely buy respawn.
Ok 12:00 mark or so. You mention that titans had more in customization (more or less is what i figure you mean) and i have to wholeheartedly disagree with that. As a gen 10 TF1 vet (before they started the nerfing of requirements ie. 50goosers to 5 ) the first title had far more customization. In fact it was a large portion of discontent from the player base including me. I want my stryder/triple threat back damn it.
Honestly I didn’t have the scope of knowing OG Titanfall. I’ve never played it, so I had to delve into what articles were saying about the two comparatively
Garbage video full of misinformation already debunked like that whole kill off titanfall1 and 2 to reboot titanfall online lmao. Imagine claiming that og titanfall had 5 months of free content... not only can't this count, he also forget that og titanfall has a season pass. Also the ppl from noskill behind the bs red tape expose later "found" a massive exploit in titanfall 2 that gave access to remote code execution, which not only got almost immidately debunked, but at the same time they banned a ton of people involved with tf0 and northstar they didn't like and tried to hide it as best as they could, timing out people for bringing it up. Now wanty and others went completely awol, while p0 and other "bad apples" are still working dilligently on titanfall 2 maps r5reloaded and tf0 behind closed doors. I wonder which ones were the liars here... Edit: Lmao I even found a statement from a "deleted user" xD "We are not doing this for drama or attention. the only statement we made were the Red Tape doc and it's follow up with the Wanty situation. what happened yesterday was a potential security risk which needed to be addressed. what we are going to post now is different. not a statement; not a response but something very important." edit2: Just finished the vid fully and I couldn't help but cringe when I heard the bs at 36:05 Apex is in such a good shape and definetely a mvp to soley generate revenue, and you can tell that it ain't a total grift and it's legit healthy by the 10+ years of technical debt being ignored at a time where respawn had all the time and resources to bring back the engine in line with the competetion. Suuuure the "hack" is what pushed monetization exclusively, and the game is totally not still behind games from 2014 like bf4 technologically speaking...
The tier list is all saint's fault. That was his doing. I do not agree with nor condone his rankings.
Nice to see you branching out , keep up tha grind brother
I spent days editing this, please leave a like and I'll give you a kiss

I was the 69th like do I get something special?
Do it then 👀
I feel cheated
pay up sweet lips.
Man I miss Titanfall 2, genuinely my favourite pvp shooter I've ever played.
Don't miss it, play it. It's still not dead. Multiplayer is sweaty but still a blast
Idk about console but PC got a good playerbase
@@trashdumpster4325 I still do every now and then. It’s holds up amazingly well and never have a problem finding a game

imagine making the original cod and then see where it is now with Nicki ménage running around as a playable character
I am still standing by for Titanfall 3.
Can confirm, titanfall 2 campaign is awesome.
The best fps games of all time. So much better than the others of the time. With ideas that took yearrrrsss to come to b normal
really enjoyed this type of video from you i hope it catches on and does well
Appreciate the love, I'm glad you liked it!
The tragedy of titan fall is akin to others such as the burning of the library of Alexandria, pompei and the biblical floods.
this was awesome content, please do more stuff like this.
love this journalism type of content, keep up the hard work brother

Titan DLC coming soon to Apex Legends. Buy the Supreme Battlepass to unlock early access.
Titanfall 1 was the best fps I've ever played
Is it too wild to think that Activision's hand was in play with all the hacking going on? Maybe they wanted to kill the IP and show who's "the boss".

And it just sort of rubs salt into the wounds of old Titanfall fans that this is what ended up being favored over their beloved games, and how it has devolved to just sucking every player's wallet dry. Even worse is that this is now the AAA industry standard :/
Sorry for the long comment, but I felt like this fits the topic and is also relevant information about how this "story" continued in the end. Incredible video Onepeg, always great to see you branch out into other content outside of DaD, and this one was a banger! (also, 19:13 Nexon jumpscare)
Tips hat to accurate Never Ending Story reference
But it's just cuz you finally played it, I know the feeling.
ngl i miss titanfall
I'm just confused why someone would spend so much time hacking a ruining a game that they play. It's just evil or sad. What a world we live in that allows so many people who two generations ago would have died of dysentry, live and be evil.
bro there are wars and genocides going on right now and you are calling some nibbas who are fukin with a game as evil ::::DDDDD
Wonderful job, wish Titanfall got to push past CoD and all its crap. Also 2142 was one of the best battlefields hands down.
Agreed this should be top comment
0:12 Don't conflate SBMM with EOMM (the latter is the worst, and SBMM by itself is not bad)
Been wondering what the old pegster was up to...now I know. 👍✌💯
Ty for watching
Remember the Titan(fall)s
How come a litteral cheater can figure out how to perma ban but game devs cant
hacker was nexon?
Eh, I don't feel that sad. I liked Titanfall 1, but didn't gel with TF2 at all. Especially the customization was too restrictive in my opinion compared to the first game, with cvertain skills being tied to certain outfits and robots, instead of having the free mix and match the first game had.
And counts as a word.
Neverending Story Reference? INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
I think titanfall 3 will still come out but it wont until the studio needs a safe new game that they know will bring them in a ton of money hopefully though it wont release with every other massive fps game
18:35 hey wait a minute...
Wait that's me
Was I in your game 0.0
@Onepeg no I'm in ur thumbnail

26:00 bot network kicking you off no matter what sounds like BS
it was not bs, i assure you. thousands and THOUSANDS of reddit posts talking about it.
Titanfall was so much better than modern cod and battlefield! The single player was also fantastic. Apex legends feels like neutered Titanfall. Ea is the worst
yes pls, Titanfall 2 fixed or a banger titanfall 3
Titanfall was su h a good game man...
I’ve never played it, so I had to delve into what articles were saying about the two comparatively
honestly dont give a shit about titen fall or cod. but god damn onepeg you can get me interested haha.
Maybe jenue was bobby codeck all along jk
Loved the video glad to see ppl still care about the game and alot of this information was new to me
F tier? BF2 multiplayer was bloody awesome for its time.
Seriously. That guy sucks
Stopped watching when you placed BF 1 at E tier with the god awful BF V.
I DIDNT DO THIS IT WAS SAINT PLZ NO COME BACK
Best $3 ever spent lol. Great video! TF3 would be so good!
This is my $hit!!! Do .... Not.... Stop..... Don't fall out of love with what you're doing! (Unless its Dad then I'll cry 😭) (Jkjk 😂)
why even bring up hasan at the start just why. hes the last person u want associated with your content.
it's a joke brotha lol
First
Garbage video full of misinformation already debunked like that whole kill off titanfall1 and 2 to reboot titanfall online lmao.
Edit:
Lmao I even found a statement from a "deleted user" xD
"We are not doing this for drama or attention. the only statement we made were the Red Tape doc and it's follow up with the Wanty situation. what happened yesterday was a potential security risk which needed to be addressed. what we are going to post now is different. not a statement; not a response but something very important."
edit2:
Just finished the vid fully and I couldn't help but cringe when I heard the bs at 36:05
Apex is in such a good shape and definetely a mvp to soley generate revenue, and you can tell that it ain't a total grift and it's legit healthy by the 10+ years of technical debt being ignored at a time where respawn had all the time and resources to bring back the engine in line with the competetion.
Suuuure the "hack" is what pushed monetization exclusively, and the game is totally not still behind games from 2014 like bf4 technologically speaking...
Ok
18:35 hey wait a minute...
