- Want to give your gameboy another screen? Well now you can. Matthew from Jelly Belly Customs has created this kit which will be available to preorder, only a maximum of 50 will be sold. Each will be hand numbered and signed by myself. He will make a few minior changes and I will create a community post when they are being sold, as well as tweet it- / elliot_coll

Thank you for this. Ever since I was a young boy I wanted to play my Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP edition games on 2 screens at once but the evil people at Nintendo wouldn't let me. Thanks to you I am now able to rest well knowing I'll be able to play my games on two screens at once. thank you again Elliot you've made a boys dream come true.

This is perfect for when little ones wanna lean on your shoulder and watch you play, you don't have to angle it strangely to make your audience comfortable.
This is probably my favorite modern art. That the original has two broken screens feels so appropriate, though I do want to see the original scratch built case with the new pcb in it to feed two screens.

@@Deses because 8 screens would probably blow a fuse, I imagine that the power circuit for the screens was never designed to carry a load like that, also there wouldn't really be space for 8 screens the entire shell and inner workings would have to be completely redone oh, it's not as easy as with the Gameboy SP where you can just add another screen on top of the one that's already there
I think a better idea would be to make a DS lite in the shape of a 2DS, basically a DS lite without a hinge but not lacking a screen like the Gameboy macro, the idea is that since the hinges break so easily you're eliminating the problem and the benefit of this over a 2DS is that it will still be able to play GBA games

I recently did a shell replacement and IPS install on my sp after watching one of your videos. So that means I have an extra sp shell and screen sitting around...
Original + IPS would be a fun combo.

Greetings from the US! I love all of your creations as well as the collabs you do with your friends. I might just order one and might make a GBA SP/NDS logo mashup for it haha! I need a project to do and this would look hilarious at a game con in the future. Maybe y'all should make a DS DS one day if you get crazy enough ha! Keep it up bud!

$50 is incredible value for some custom plastic parts and a hand soldered PCB. I wouldn't want to make that for less than $100

It is said that if you go crosseyed and tilt your heard 90 degrees this will restore the gameboy advances lost 3d functionality.
To answer a few questions:
"Ah man why you killing 2 gameboys?" : Your not, you can use aftermarket shells and everything with the original hardware can be removed, nothing is damaged. Also lots of spare 001 LCDs out there on ebay with the rise of the IPS mods to the consoles. Your repurposing not killing.
"Why not 3d print the LCD face with the hinge" : Simply because the hinge needs to be strong and needs to work. A 3d print isn't the right thing to do in that area it wouldn't be strong enough
"Can I have the STL?" in short no. Would the KFC colonel give away his secret blend of herbs and spices?
"Will 2 IPS LCDs work" NO!!!! The SP only just has enough power for one, so 2 I highly doubt it

Looks good and thank you for putting in the work!!! What made you decide to go with sticking a modified case under the 2nd screen vs making your shell hold the screen? Wouldn't you be able to get a smaller gap between the 2 screens?

The next step is to make the lower body long, and an extra set of buttons that do the exact same thing.

What requirements do you have for the handhelds you collect? E.g. condition, authentic parts or not, etc. Is it possible to confirm authenticity?
That white plastic is quite sheer, you can see through it very easily once assembled.

There was a better way to do the original one.
Scratch off the coating of the ribbon, right where it comes out of the board of the IPS, for the bottom display. Do it in a small staggered way to make it easier. Then use some solder mask to seal it back up, and that'll fix the ribbon cable issue.

You know what this needs? A fold out panel for the top screen. 1. It'll make it EVEN LONGER. 2. It can act as a sun shield for the screen increasing visibility. 3 it'll protect the top screen. 4. it's absolutely stupid 5. It'll make it EVEN LONGER. 674. It'll make it EVEN LONGER.

using strong filament you should be able to design a dual screen holder with the dimensions of the gameboy's shell, would fit better too
Maybe for the next one, have the screens back to back. That way you could play and someone could watch you play without being over your shoulder.
This is so sick! Just curious about the design of that kit. Why does it need a faceplate piece + two original screen shell pieces? In my mind it would make more sense if the it came with a "dual" screen shell piece instead... but there might be something I'm not seeing? I just figure that way it would close properly as well.
