Great lesson! Funny thing is I am almost 50 years old and I grew up with Anarchy in the UK. The track just never gets old nor the album for that matter.
@@jimmycricketlopez2746 Level 8 now, bought three more guitars; having a blast! Thanks Justin for the addiction ! It's getting expensive dude (but quietly I thank you each time I buy another guitar :-) )
Justin, thank you so much for changing my life. This is my first song on electric ⚡️ and it’s feeling of power and momentum I hope to keep feeling forever. Thank you!
I remember seeing the Sex Pistols in the Fforde Grene pub in Leeds, just as they were on the verge of becoming famous. I saw them again later in the year at Leeds Poly when they were *very* famous.
Love it! I was also a bit of a punk rocker, way back in the day; the Clash is still one of my favorite bands. Not sure why, but I’ve never tried to learn any of those old killer songs on the guitar. This one was a fun/easy addition. Now I need to dig deeper for some Clash tunes. Thanks!
This video, about months ago, made me wanted to learn to play my acoustic and buy a guitar. And now im here with my guitar playing this song. Thank you alot
Lifting off that finger in the verse riff... Finally figured it out. Dang, turns out I have been playing this all wrong for 25 years! Thank you Justin! If I may be so bold to suggest: anything by The Jam.
Simple yet excellent punk tune, what more could ya ask for? 😁 Also do you consider teaching some more Elliott Smith songs? His chord progressions and harmonic vocabulary really interesting me.
Steve Jones quite an underrated guitarist ! look at the track belson very easy song but a riff that is pure punk the slide is amazing. Today its a very offencive song but hey this was punk rock of the 70's
Definitely the first song I will experiment with when I get my first electric (struggling with power chords on acoustic) Still sounds fantastic and exciting after over 40 years !
In the original he does e and f barre chords under the not 8 and 7 on the a string. It does sound correct if you listen. And I've seen jonsey play it that way. Glen played on bass in the lower octave steve played played it the same. On the first solo after he gets through the c shape triad he hits the a and d on the 12 fret Then a and d on the 13th then go into that little lick you do before you go back up the neck for the rest of the solo. He does that live also. Sounds perfect. Try it you'll like it.
First time here. What a classic song to learn, well done,. That hat rocks man it goes with the tune, your just missing a shot of Jameson. Cheers from Canada

You were a punk 30 years ago ?, impossible, you look 28, great lesson, i've been messing with the guitar on and off for about 15 years, currently most of the way through your excellent Cream Crossroads lesson, i have a question on power chords though, i use my forefinger and pinky for power chords (instead of fore finger, ring finger and pinky), barring the stings with my pinky, is this a bad habit i should try and cure ?
Weird question from old punk guitar player! I'm relearning guitar (for something to do in the COVID era) after playing for 25 years then NOT playing for 20 years (I'm 64). For some unknown reason, I find that I can't slide a chord DOWN on the neck (especially if I'm on the top three strings) without lifting my fingers off the fretboard and resetting them after moving my hand down. I can slide UP keeping my fingers in place without issues. Seems to be some kind of flexibility or nerve impingement problem. My brain simply can't make it happen! As a side note, I've been lifting weights consistently for the last 20+ years and have some arthritis in my shoulders and neck. Any ideas?
Hey Ryan! Crazy busy times, but things are getting back on track and MANY, many new lessons and exciting things are coming out in the next couple of weeks! Stay tuned and thanks for asking. :)
Hey Justin. I'm fine sliding and shifting power chords just using two fingers (for a given value of fine, at least!), but I fall to pieces when I try and do the same with the three-fingered shape. Any tips for improving this, or is it simply something I need to practice?
@@shokker2445 Sort of. If I put more tension into my lower 2 fingers to keep them together, my little finger tends to push the ring finger too close to the index finger, and consequently either too close to the fret, or in the wrong one altogether.
@@JamieBatabyal I recommend playing air guitar with your hand in that locked position whenever you can (e.g. on the bus to work). When you’re on your actual guitar, the most important thing is to keep it on the strings when you slide up and down, but just relax it. Another important thing is to look at the fret you are going to - never look at your hand when sliding up and down the neck. Hope that helps!
@@shokker2445 Hey man, just wanted to follow up - I've been doing what you recommended and it's already made a big difference to my form and accuracy, so thanks again, it was a useful tip!
