Wow excellent timing! I taught the chords of this song to my class last week and I told them this week I would show them the riff. Thanks for making this video, I will share with my class!
Since my school days - 1987 till later 2010 iv been trying to learn to play. A month back i got inspired to try once more. Got a real nice teacher to explain how to read the major scales and make chords.. Then you come to saying ok what songs can i try along now. La Bamba is my 8 year olds absolute#1. And I found your beautiful video on RUclips. You have such a lovely easy and warm method to encourage newbies to get over that first step. I am really inspired to learn La Bamba and surprise my son.. cant wait :-)

Very nice. I do like to change the G chord to a G7 after the 1st couple of strums. Kind of gives it that ring. I'm sure Justin is helping thousands of people learn guitar. I cannot think of a better contribution to life except maybe supporting the Liverpool Reds. YNWA!
Super thankful for all your great work here, Justin. Your calm, helpful, encouraging spirit is always a breath of fresh air. I wonder why you play the 6th note in the riff on the D string instead of the G string, as it is in Valens' original recording.
'La Bamba' is a Mexican folk song (son jarocho) originally from the state of Veracruz. The best known version is the Ritchie Valens' adaptation from 1958.
i am trying to learn this tune but i end up going into quantaramera i think its my old age just trying to learn guitar tunes to relax indoors thanks for your teaching
Hello Justin, Thank you so much for all the lessons you do! I really appreciate them. On this video, I've tried following this tab and slowing the video down on RUclips. When you play this at full speed the first time, I counted 22 notes. When you slow it down and also the tab, I only count 16 notes. Am I missing something? Thank You! Ok, I see now, the C E D F A G is played again, I think.
The first song I learned on guitar. Also the thumbnail picture isn't of Richie Valens. That's Lou Diamond Phillips playing richie in the movie. Would be nice to see the actual Richie Valens on there

I could see how hard you had to concentrate to play it badly. Thanks for this song, I like the Jim Croce version , where the lyrics are slightly different. Need a big stairway) Etc… ( my Spanish is a bit kaput) but I think the lyrics sound better than the Richie Valans one . Thier both great though , will definitely keep working at this ,

Hey justin would be awesome if you done a 96 quite bitter beings tutorial😁. Keep up good work. Followed you for years!
Great riff tutorial. Second rhythm guitar could play ... capo 3rd fret ... A-D-E shapes with push chord changes being easy as well
Well shake it up ba-

Great lesson btw

Brillant how you explain and share your passion for simple song like this one. I first learned it(not right) I was 9!

Cheers mate.
Hi Justin, Great video, thank you. Do you like your box on the amp. speaker emulator. Is it worth the money?
Framed by Ritchie!! Please!
Sorry, but found this straight forward until about the 3:57 mark, and then found the explanation for the next part of the riff somewhat confusing.
Me too when he ends on the "1" that none is not on the TAB sheet but he said the last part ends on the "1" which is the C note of the 5th string....
Learning this because the oilers have a shot at the cup this year
nice lesson once again, jason....
His name is Justin lol
Oops......fat figures......lol

At the beginning you play it fast then slow. You dont finish the riff when you do it slow?
Justin I'm having Deja vu what's going on dude?
How old is that blanket?! 😱😄
I have been playing this song for years...WRONG! Ha Ha!!
;)
thats carol kay playing guitar on that
I think last note on the tab is missing
THIS IS SO HARD I CANT GET THE TWO NOTE ONE 😢😢😢😢😢😢
I think the original version had a down tuning
I take that back I think its a 6 string bass
I just learned the solo from holy diver but I can’t fuckin play this song right
Just learned it… you have a terrible way of teaching this. You should really break it down into three or four separate licks making it easier.
The tab is inaccurate. Last note missing
You missed one note!

Easy riff yes, but you are teaching it incorrectly, the notes aren't right!
