    even me, an outsider feel kinda angry and upset a boy had to go through all that just because of stupid laws and discrimination. i hope this kid grows up to be a great man one day and be the proof that gay parents are perfectly awesome as straight parents, maybe better ones, because they work harder, knowing the importance and fragility of their family due to outsiders' interference.

    I am sad because it is perfectly fine and legal for irresponsible teenagers to get knocked up and put up their kids for adoption yet gay couple in a lot of places still cannot adopt those poor children to start a family.

      I think it's funny how people don't understand bilingual countries - in Belgium most people speak 2 or 3 languages (Dutch, French, English, German)..

    • @roelvanacker
      @roelvanacker  10 лет назад

      ha! I'm well aware there are a lot of countries where they only speak 1 language, it seems a lot of people aren't aware there are countries where that's not the case though.. But we're such a tiny country, we're bound to pay attention to a lot of the 'outside world' - I imagine bigger countries are a lot more introspected

    I have no patience these days with the deranged people commenting on this video, who think by being incredibly offensive (and quite frankly plain stupid - in argument and in grammar) they can pursuade us to join their deranged beliefs. I don't get the need to convert people anyway, but internet trolling has never converted anyone. It just spreads hate, which is not a christian thing to do. So, I have been moderating the comments, and deemed the deranged comments not suitable for sane people to read. You're welcome.

How many kids today are not in happy family life situation; these guys have got it all together. Beautiful. I just hope now the media leave them to their privacy. And for all the religious nuts saying they should not be , i don't see their homes overflowing with adopted children ? or them doing anything to support the children , except doing what they can to prevent them from finding a permanent and loving forever home .

    it is not at all 'worthless' to have a Belgian passport in France, as these are European countries, and in Europe you can live, work, travel,.. in any member state if you are a citizen of another member state. But the problem regarding the passport for Samuel was more complex: as a newborn, he needed a passport to leave Ukraine and enter the EU, and since his biological father is Belgian, Belgian Foreign Affairs should've automatically granted him his citizenship and passport, but they refused..

  • @roelvanacker
    @roelvanacker  11 лет назад

    well, I am a native Dutch speaking Belgian, just like Peter, the 'Papou' of Samuel.. we're such a small country with 3 official languages, so we're known for being good with languages..
    actually at school I was never good with languages, always more of a science and maths guy, but I do speak 4 languages, and I have to speak French on a daily basis, English often, and German rarely.. and of course I spoke mostly Dutch, my mother tongue
    -roel

  • @roelvanacker
    @roelvanacker  11 лет назад

    Hi, 'Belgian' is not a language. In Belgium there are 3 official languages. Most people speak Dutch (we call it 'Flemish' because it's different from the kind of Dutch spoken by our neighbours The Netherlands). Nearly all others speak French, and a small minority speaks German.
    Peter is a Flemish guy but worked in Brussels where the main language is French. In this report he speaks Dutch to the camera, and French with his son. Laurent is a French speaking Belgian. They live in France now.

    Two very cute, hot, adorable dads; who both bring your hearts to this wonderful, sweet child. I'm so glad that Samuel is being raised by two very loving, caring, protective parents who will move heaven and earth to protect him. I see the true, honest love you both show for someone you hold dear; someone you'd go to the ends of the earth for. I see the anguish in your faces, & the anguish in your hearts, the tears in your eyes. Please take care of this wonderful child. I know he's in good hands.

  • @roelvanacker
    @roelvanacker  11 лет назад

    the problem was the involvement of an (Ukranian) surrogate mother.. as surrogacy is not legal in Belgium, government (the bureaucrats of foreign affairs) didn't want to grant this child his Belgian citizenship (they make kind of the same case for child trafficking, which is illegal)
    fortunately, the court of justice ruled in favor of the biological father, and Samuel got his Belgian Passport

    Ok, I really had fun reading most of the comments (it's fucking ANNOYING in a video like this, people who write just to tell us how hot he/she finds the parents...we don't care and it's not important here ¬¬U).
    But this story is very touching, I didn't know it happened. I would love to be a dad someday so I felt very sorry for them and the little child. The only thing is that I would have preferred not to show the child, since he can't choose.

  • @CorvusBruxo
    @CorvusBruxo 11 лет назад

    Actually, when people speaks of "the origins of marriage", they speak about the first ones to include some laws, rights and duties for marriage, the Roman marriage. It doesn't mean in other times and cultures, marriage, as a spiritual oath in front of their deities to be bounded to each other and start a new family with their partner, didn't exist, but it was all cultural, moral and spiritual. So it's funny when Christians talk about "origins of marriage" or "the meaning of marriage in history".

  • @CorvusBruxo
    @CorvusBruxo 11 лет назад

    Amen! I fell in love with you. First person I see in RUclips to say something like that. I hate that people call my lifestyle "gay". There are many things I choose to have for a lifestyle. Customs, culture, ideals, values, beliefs... all of that, and then it's my homosexuality, which just defines the gender I feel attracted to and probably define the gender of my future partner to form a family...regardless of all the things I choose to include in my lifestyle. So yes, it's ANNOYING.

  • @roelvanacker
    @roelvanacker  12 лет назад

    They are all Belgian, but living in France.. Peter is native Dutch speaking, Laurent is native French speaking (Belgium is a bilingual country), I'm pretty sure they speak both languages with Sam, but Sam goes to school in French.
    good luck with the bigots at the other side of the ocean! I imagine they will huff, puff and roar (and much uglier things) after the marriage equality victory in Maine, Minessota, Maryland and Washington?

    1) you can read up on the history of 'traditional marriage' in history or science, as well as in the bible.. either way you must conclude 'marriage out of love' (between a man and women, as I assume you think of) is a pretty recent phenomenon: historically 'traditional marriage' was a property transaction
    2) same sex relationships were never 'the norm', as it is not now: only 10% of population is LGBT
    3) your psych course was not up to date. identical twin studies show significant results
    -roel

  • @roelvanacker
    @roelvanacker  12 лет назад

    1) ah.. yes it was, and you don't have to look to those pesky historics and scientist, just read your bible.
    2) now that is real prejudice, as homosexuality is clearly not a choice (as any science on that matter states. please read abouthomosexuality(dot)com) you are born sexually attracted to the same sex as you are born black
    3) read the Mark Regnerus study (all of it) at sciencedirect(dot)com (search for author: Regnerus, Volume 41, Issue 4, Page 752)

    historically, marriage has always been defined as a union between a Male & his Property (servant-wife), is that the diversity you speak of? what benefits does the male-female diversity hold over black-white or introvert-extravert diversity? (studies show children are as well or even better raised in same-sex couples)
    'authentically' children born in seclusion know only their parents, nowadays diversity of any kind (gender, race, personalities) is found in family, schools, environment,..

    I thought that Belgium was supposed to be a progressive country as same-sex marriage was legalized there since 2003. How come this is impossible while joint adoption and stepparents adoption are both allowed in Belgium ? This is so ridiculous. The boy's biological father is Belgian citizen so there is no way in hell he cannot have his son's custody.

  • @CorvusBruxo
    @CorvusBruxo 11 лет назад

    I'm sorry, but in "Greek history" there weren't understanding at all of homosexuality. It wasn't a legal right, it was more kind of a custom, like it happened in many places and times in history, where and when homosexual behaviour were accepted but not for empathy, but for other reasons, wether they're cultural, social, religious or others...

    Found it interesting, though, that I had little trouble understanding the voice-over presenter and the news anchor, and even Laurent in French … but as soon as Peter opened his mouth, all I could hear was a Frenchman speaking English with a German accent! Couldn’t make out more than perhaps half the words.

    Men and women can both raise children just as well as one another and it's social institutions and situations for the family that have a greater effect on how well a child can be raised. Watch world's strictest parents New Jersey episode and see how amazingly the two gay men can raise 5 kids. Gender has nothing to do with one's ability to raise a family; men and women can both be amazing or horrible parents.

  • @HojoOSanagi
    @HojoOSanagi 12 лет назад

    Your ideas of physical and spiritual anatomy are not a universally held belief and hold no more ground than any other views on marriage and family. In some Algonquin tribes, it is the mother's brother who is to raise the male children and teach them how to manage the lands and take care of their fellow peoples and the uncles on their own do an amazing job for their social system.

  • @HojoOSanagi
    @HojoOSanagi 12 лет назад

    And if you were living with the Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania, they would say that your Christian ethnocentric views do not produce the best atmosphere for raising a child and that it is essential for the child to have multiple female figures raising the children. Without the household having multiple wives it would fall apart in their view, which for their society is an actual possibility where many individuals are necessary to take care of the farmstead while the kids are being raised.

    Theology of the Body? Really, you are gonna come with a religious approach to a controversial issue? That's very narrow minded of the person in the top comment. We have to face reality with a new open minded approach, one that is not bound to one religion. I am was brought up Catholic, what do I think of gay marriage and adoption? I find it inevitable that people who love each other are gonna get married. #TeamEquality

    right, because fighting for a child that deserves a loving and caring 'parents' isn't part of the norm. because 'physiology and spiritual anatomy' doesn't include the pain, torture and heartbreak that these two consensual adults, who care and love one another, have been through. because people, like yourself, will never have nor feel it. you talk about 'spiritual anatomy', their child was forcefully taken away from them for one whole year. And in that one whole year, they fought for that child.

    I remember reading about this when the story first broke into international news, it simply broke my heart. I couldn't understand why a government would intentionally separate loving fathers from their child. I thought for sure in Europe biology, as in The USA, would make the difference. I am so happy to finally see Samuel home and with his family. Thank you for uploading this, I need some good news for once! :)

    "Tradition" is something that has always been used to just keep people down and unequal. I detest tradition when it does not allow for full human rights. Marriage is a CIVIL CONTRACT between two people who love each other - if it were just about anatomy and breeding, my 93 year old father and his 80 year old second wife should never have gotten married.

    It all depends on where you live, the important thing is that the child receives good,stable and loving parenting ,you do not have to be a couple or indeed straight to do that if straight were always better than gay there would not be so many children and young people needing care and prospective adopting parents are vetted biological parents are not.

    How many kids out there in foster care would love a home like this. Loving parents is what it's all about no matter their sex.

    We are so pleased it worked out well in the end after a bumpy start - hes going to be one lucky kid

    That kid is so lucky...f* hell he has two, not one but TWO dads haha no offence to sons having mothers, but I never got along with my mother, and I wish I had two dads. I think for a boy to have two dads is awesome. Although, either way most important thing is to have two loving parents of any sort.

    Didn't understand a word. Don't care. I understood by their body language and facial expression(and reading the comments) on what was happening. I can say I love this family. It's so happy and heartwarming (happy ending for gay people WIN :D)

    That is unbelieveable!. The child is the biological child of one of the men. The fact that he was denied a passport and made to live in an orphanage is disgusting even though his dad is Belgian .Congratulations on finally winning the battle

    Those men are absolutely cute...and so is little Samuel. Are they Dutch and speaking Dutch? I'm an African American, and here in the states, we have too many bigoted people here hindering gays from their RIGHTS.

    VERY NICE TO SEE THAT.
    There are a lot of children all around the world who are in orphanage and don't have a family to care for them.

    So why not l'et gay couples adopt them.
    Iam happy to see this video

    What a beautiful family. Hope them live happily ever after. Good luck to little Samuel and his two loving dads. By the way, what language are they speaking? Belgian or French?
