Thank you Phil! I took your videography bootcamp course on udemy and loved it. Just booked my first professional project and happened to find you here on youtube too when searching for the answer to this question. Thanks for all the help!
Dude! You're a lifesaver. This helped so much. I never knew Median existed and hearing about it via this video saved us so much time on our feature film project that was riddled with grain. Thank you so much!
If just those words meant something to me, I wouldn't have searched for this video in the first place. It's like someone asking "how to I make this photo better" and the answer is "photoshop".
This is helpful to know, but I wish someone would use actual grainy footage. U can find it easily when using ur phone at night. That would make a better visual representation of the noise reduction working
N I K I - M A R S H 14 seconds ago (edited) I don't understand why if you're trying to teach someone how to use this thing, why don't you show them how to get the image in the correct place? I don't even know how to do that. Do you have a video that shows that?
I just started your Udemy class for PP and After Effects. I am an electrical instructor professionally working on creating better learning content. For a Hobby i fly drones, FPV and cinematography. Subbed

Pretty handy info in a pinch. I still have to convince my better half as to why I need to spend $159 for Neat Video. So this may be handy in the mean time. Thanks!
This doesnt seem to really help. You say it serves as a quick and easy tool, but requires you to use the pen tool, which then takes away the time you should be saving l, especially for moving footage.
GREAT tutorial as per usual, Phil. Always learn so much. Question - what camera, lens, and settings did you use for this video? I love the bokeh on your sign and computer in the background.
i'm on cs6 and apparently no one else is because i can't seem to get any of the effects people suggest :( i've got denoiser but it doesn't seem to be properly installed or something because it won't add to the clip
Great video exactly what i needed. Same cam too. Shot a wedding 70D and RebelT5 cam 2. Footage looks good to others but i see the noise. Can i edit in premiere as is and then send to AE when im done to clean up noise in entire finished edit?
I shoot some house videos for realtors. Sometimes a room, usually a bathroom, has some really jacked-up color. Anyone browsing through these comments have an easy way to fix that? The Lumetri color is great for room to room small variances, but the only luck I have had is with the channel mixer. I end up adding theblue channel into the green to band-aid it. Oh, it's a Go-Pro clone "sports camera." Thanks in advance!
So each and every time I colourgrade my footage I I sort of colourgrade in a way that my footage cannot handle the colour grade so in so doing it sort of break the image causing it to have digital Grains how can I fix it...I use premier pro
My video must be wrecked from the start because using this effect made it even more blurry. I have no idea what I am doing and I'm at a loss on how to fix it.
Hello I was recording gameplay of game and for some reason these solid blocks of statics appear in certain scenes. Is there a way to remove that in editing.
Dear Phil. You are very professional. But, how I'm gona see a thing in this particular spot that you showed in 0:40? Is very dark. I thought that you were about to give brightness to it before show the problem, but you didn't. You said in 1:39: "pay attention whats happening here"--> nothing I can see Ps.: I bought one of your courses

It is now outdated but adobe have not added a new on(presumably to make ppl get the full creative suite. "Presumably" being a key word here). The effect still works but it is lightyears behind other tools that actually reduce noise without killing the sharpness.
For those in a rush -- useful info begins at 1:18
You're a godsend
You can do this in Rush?! 🙏

Phil actually knows and explains the technicality behind the effect love that
It's the Median effect and some pen tool masking. I just saved you 6 minutes.
you better say thanks, rather being so sarcastic
really? how i apply those tools? how i use them? see? youre comment dosent make sense ;)
thank you :D
THANKS ahahahaha

Best tutorial of my life. I have spent countless hours with other tutorials that get me no where. Marry me 😅
thx for the tips...any idea when premiere will get its own designated noise reduction? Seems like an obvious improvement.
he's one of the best professors!
I will give it a try. Thanks for the video.
This is a very helpful tutorial. I am dealing with the unfortunate grains here! Thank you!
Thanks so much for watching this tutorial! Let me know what you think - any other tutorials you want?
why RAM preview in after effects always weird.
I'm not quite sure if my computer or something, but i couldn't see much cause ur pup video its really dark

Median didn't show for me :/
it's obsolete
What is the new effect called? Premiere is telling me that it's a legacy effect now
Great video, thank you!! Just subscribed :)
Did you make that additional tutorial on another day re: After Effects Noise Reduction and remove grain?
Nice video but grain is for video shot on film, noise is for video shot on digital.
good explanation
Great video. Though it's pretty pathetic that Adobe hasn't implemented a good denoiser tool into it's software yet.
What if your video has a lot of movement?
motion track that mask my man
Thanks for sharing... Very helpful...
thanks for useful tips
when he said "shot with the Canon 70D...which doesnt have a good low-light ability"
I felt that....
its my camera
I did not find a median effect in Premiere 2022

GREAT tutorial as per usual, Phil. Always learn so much. Question - what camera, lens, and settings did you use for this video? I love the bokeh on your sign and computer in the background.
I used the canon c100 mii with the 24-70 mm l series lens
Settings - somewhere around f/2.8 or f/4 aperture
You're the best. Thanks, Phil.

The Median option is not there anymore?
I thought he said what's up FILM EDITOR lmfao
Well thanks for teaching me the PEN tool ! And I am sad as I am using a Canon 70D :(
Thank you very helpfull

you have to shoot in flat, i had the same issue

Yep, I know it's hard to see. Hopefully if you're testing it out on your own footage/monitor, you'll be able to see what's happening better!
I believe that RUclips's compression is not allowing you to see the details. I might be wrong though.
Can you help me in getting these masking tools (options) in PremierPro cs6 please
I was trying to do this but the tool is really hard to use and I can’t find any videos on how to use it like a clipping pen.
thank you
you didn't show after effect in end as you said in beginning
yes, watch from 4:51
Great video THANKS!

On preview region uncheck the show box square.
Thank you so much
The median effect now says "Legacy" by it. Is it still the desired plugin or is there a newer one now?
It is now outdated but adobe have not added a new on(presumably to make ppl get the full creative suite. "Presumably" being a key word here). The effect still works but it is lightyears behind other tools that actually reduce noise without killing the sharpness.
Noice
Brooo which cam do you shoot?
Misleading.
darkest example ive ever saw
Are you Soviet Womble?
do something with your voice please, you can talk normally without affects, sure you can, otherwise its interrupting
Great video, but no offense all you tutorial people talk way too much, like just show me, with a brief explanation.
OMG nobody ever gets to the point.
If you want to instant quadruple your rendering time, use this tool.....lol
Really?
I like youuuu
Hi brooooo
Usually useless b labla at the start, when will these youtubers get it that we know the problem and we aren't clowns ... skip to 1:14 - you're welcome
