  • If God is not sovereign, God is not God. Today, R.C. Sproul reveals that it is an abandonment not only of Christianity, but of theism itself if we believe that anything lies outside of God’s ultimate control.

    Isaiah 45:5,6,7
    I am the LORD, and there is no other; apart from me there is no God. I will strengthen you, though you have not acknowledged me,so that from the rising of the sun to the place of its setting men may know there is none besides me. I am the LORD, and there is no other.I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.

    We have no choice in anything or else God isn't sovereign. How can we be responsible for anything? God is all powerful. No one can choose to be born into sin before they were born.

    "it is not Gods will that any should perish, but all should come to repentance"..so????

    • @clifftanch
      @clifftanch 3 года назад

      First, let’s expand out the verse fully:
      2 Peter 3:9 (NIV84) The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
      This is a great mystery. I think most evangelical theologians would teach BOTH predestination and free will without any contradiction from the point of view of God. The verse above clearly shows a merciful God waiting for sinful man to exercise his/her free will and repent. But earlier:
      2 Peter 3:7 (NIV) By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.
      Here the promise of judgment is clearly a statement of predestination. That NO MATTER what mankind does, there was and is appointed a Day of Judgment that was preordained and predestined to occur. All within two verses of one another.

    • @glvbjr
      @glvbjr 3 года назад +1

      All I see is a circular argument. A day of judgement being preordained does not nessesitate ones salvation being preordained.
      I'm somewhere between a 3 point Calvanist and an Arminian. There's no point trading verses, I've heard both sides of the argument ad infinitum. And if you're right, it doesn't matter anyway :)
