The racing speedmaster does so much for the price point at 44% off in 2023. Date window 40mm (really 38) Grey dial/yellow (Batman) Great bracelet Great rubber alternative Column wheel Easy adjust date Your reviews helped me get the watch, thank you for this sleeper!
Ah yes! I also have this reference. A keeper for me as well, it was the watch my wife gave me when we got married. Specs wise it's a killer deal. Coaxial, automatic, date complication. It's really got all a man needs for every day forever.
Apart from your Meistersinger, all of your watches have struck a chord with me and that is saying something. We have exquisite taste... but seriously congrats on a real beauty.
Massive congratulations. I think that's the best looking Speedy I've seen. Pandas abound, but that red....wow. Love the wobblers as well, and have many in my collection. It's a happy tactile interaction for a living timepiece. What a great find. Enjoy it! 👍👍👍
I have bought and sold various watches from Rolex to Breitling. All so far have been a great pleasure to seek out watches. As for buying the watch again due to the fact of making a mistake to get rid of it, yes 👍 for sure it’s more of a keeper which will be fought over when passing on in life. So leave a detailed will. 🌹
Hi Peter. I bought the white dial version of the same model a couple of months back.. after I saw your older video for the reverse panda variant. Thanks for helping me make the call.. cheers!
Nice speedy very unique not the typical Moon watch variant. That column wheel makes such a difference with the chronograph function. That strap really brings out the spirit of that particular model.
Cool choice. I’m really not a fan of chronographs, but I’ve owned a Speedmaster before. It was fun, just never really connected with it though. But I do like that version. Great choice. Thanks for sharing.
Peter I’ve bought several watches through Chrono24, including a beautiful WW2 era vintage Rolex. I found it a safe way to purchase especially via Escrow! I would not hesitate again if I find what I’m after!
I had the opportunity to buy one of these a few years ago. It was the charcoal-colored dial variant with red accents on the bracelet. It was in a store in Narita, Japan, from which I had purchased another watch previously and was immaculate. Had the box and papers and was like new. I remember agonizing over that choice because I thought 40mm was just a bit too small for my wrist. But it did look good and I appreciated its design just like you. In retrospect I should have jumped at the chance to add it to my collection and will remember that hopefully so as not to make the same mistake again. Enjoy and thanks for sharing!
Great technical re-buy or buy back. I have no issues with rotor wobble. I can enjoy a watch with our without it just fine. And, if a watch has a display back, I enjoy watching that seemingly endless spin. It's quite an entertaining dynamic spectacle as bidirectional rotors tend to be stiff and static once fully wound... Which is fine too. Just saying it's yet a different allergy to equally enjoy between the wobblers and wobbleless. The color and details are great on this one. I can appreciate getting an atypical model from a popular watch model line. The road less traveled can often be the more interesting one.
Blimey glad I'm not the only one splashing out this week. Love the speedy Peter, although I prefer the original black / white colourway. This is the first time I've seen it in red, looks great on that suede strap. Just got my sla 043 today and I'm smitten. Like you I purchased it 2nd hand via eBay, but eBay are now offering a athentuacy guarantee on any watch over 2k.basically the seller sends it to be checked and if it's gen, they then post it to the buyer. To be honest never have had a problem buying 2nd hand goods off eBay, but then I have been doing it for over 17 years. I don't know if you seen any sla 62mas models in the flesh Peter, but the size would be right up your alley. Got it for an amazing price considering it was only purchased in June this year. May need to get a bigger watch box now though, lol.
I never got it when people were complaining about rotor wobble, for instance on a watch with a Miyota 9 series movement, its a non issue for me. Congrats for the good purchase and the new gorgeous watch Pete!
I'm with you on the rota wobble. My Citizen diver (right on the other end of the buying scale :) has it and I always like it when it starts whirring away. Fair play to you taking the risk on buying it unknown. Looks like it's played out though, It's a gorgeous looking watch. Thanks for the review.
@@justplainlawr Wobble is probably the wrong term. Spinning is more what I'm describing. If you jerk the watch in quick wrist action you can hear the rota free spinning. Depending on the watch it can be quite loud especially if you place it on a flat surface which can amplify it. It's not actually winding the watch though. The rota winds one way only and the other way is just free spinning and that's what you can hear.
Great to see you keeping true to your style, you always bring something interesting to enjoy. It’s really testament to the depth or your experience, and the strength of this particular online platform, that you found success in the pre-owned market without the face-to-face transaction. Complete 180 from the previous pre-owned Omega experience you shared.
Absolutely 180 degrees I had hands on with that Seamaster for 5 minutes but the deal went south because it was a replica This time I had my concerns, but luckily all worked out 👍 Cheers Michael
Great purchase. Superb red colour 👌. The texture on the sub dials is a great design touch. Definitely a summer watch on that rubber strap. Thanks for sharing. Not seen this model before.
Bought one today from Chrono 24 for my sons 21st. Grey dial, rubber strap. wish it was mine. I was not sure about the online purchase but seems there is plenty of protection there. time will tell. Also, no local Omega dealers here for me.
I discovered this watch through your previous vid and I agree, the only main ding is the legibility, but with this red variant and the blue (which I have my eye on) the legibility is fantastic. This really is a close to perfect Chrono. Fantastic vid! 😎👍🏼
I had a nice trip down in Melbourne long years ago, where we went to wineries in a convertible merc from 80s. This watch would be perfect for this sort of thing. Well done mate. Enjoy it.
I got this model after seeing your reverse panda video! I love the colour and the legability. Purchased through Chrono 24 as well, ticked all the boxes. Keep up the good work.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful watch. Love the alternate red. I am with you in that the primary function of a watch revolves around legibility. Without that- it’s close to worthless. I have the Heuer Autavia with the “hidden” date and yes it’s very nice. Just anted up and bought the Globemaster Annual Calendar. And I’m loving it but then, I was born in the 1950s and it feels right at home.
Thanks Pete - stunning colour combo with the strap ! Lot of design finesse here inc the texture on sub dials and strap. Right up there on my Wishlist . Bloody Beautiful! Cheers 👌
Thanks for sharing Peter. I LUV this variant, especially the red and textures for both (sub & main) dials… I wore my wobbly 2006 blue dial triple calendar for Speedy Tuesday this week, constantly looking down with the sensation. Having bought the safe colour choice back then, I have matured to ‘fun level’ red now, and will continue the search via your links. (Was on N.Hacko SYD this week checking selection) Cheers👍🏻
Ah, that's a beautiful watch, Peter! And the walk-thru on the Chrono24 private seller experience was interesting. Congrats on the purchase and enjoy it, great edition!
Snagged the speedy pro earlier this year and decided to sell this watch to help fund a grand seiko since I couldn’t justify owning both but kind of regretting it because it really did wear nicely. Also was my most accurate auto watch gaining less the a second per day. Maybe I’ll get another one in future!
The Red looks more bordeaux/darker here than most products shots that I've seen so far! Looks even better in your presentation. Great purchase! Love some good wobble-wind, too! P.S. I appreciate your message towards "older models". I personally do not get why one would limit themselves to only those models that are currently found in an AD's window. There are so many gems out there!
It's beautiful! This is my first time seeing this color way and I love it but I'm a little apprehensive in case I start disliking it over time. I've wanted a Speedy Pro for a long time(or so I thought) but I noticed that I was purchasing other pieces instead of the Speedy. I realized that I didn't love the Speedy Pro, rather I loved it's history and what others had to say about it. In all honesty, in the back of my mind the Speedy Pro was a bit bland and too busy looking for my tastes. I then realized that what I really wanted was a Speedy Racing for it's automatic movement, 40mm case and mostly all the contrast in dial variations. Right now I'm between the black dial, reverse panda and now this beautiful red dial! I mostly prefer bracelets so I think the red dial doesn't look as good on the bracelet. Looks great on the rubber and leather NATO though! Tough choice.
Very nice timepiece and excellent video as always. Thanks, Peter. Congrats on your purchase. I love the Omega in rose gold and tantalum, with NO complications. Oh, anOrdain has some beautiful dials.
I’d say you traded up Peter: 10/10. This Speedmaster could make most any wish list. Really love it. Ya Good to see you be rewarded for adding a stunning color dial having been more “safe” initially.
OOOHHHH THAT COLOUR!!! Amazing. Such a beautiful speedy, I hadn't seen the red variant before and now you've fired up the ol "It will be mine" vibe in my brain. I've been contemplating the Tudor BB Chrono as my next purchase but....on can never tell.
Great review. I'm seriously considering one of these, in particular, the one with the grey/yellow colorway. The red one you have chosen looks fantastic and I'm happy you showcased it here because I can get a much better feel for how it looks, rather than stock pictures. Very helpful point on the servicing benefits of this movement. Definitely a plus. Cheers!
Love it!!! Totally agree with your points. I love the red. It’s different. Combines really well with the black. I don’t mind the valjoux movement. Who cares. Easier to service and cheaper. I hate dates on chronos but this one fits perfectly

I'm with you on rotor wobble! I have it with a few Miyota movements and it makes me smile. It's fun!
Another crazy enthusiast 😊😂👍
Apart from your Meistersinger, all of your watches have struck a chord with me and that is saying something. We have exquisite taste... but seriously congrats on a real beauty.
I had not bought an omega in probably 20 years and recently grabbed a seamaster and Omega is def great quality
It reminds me the Speedsmaster Schumacher, but modern. Nice chronograph!!!
That is a sweet piece! I agree that there is nothing negative to me about rotor wobble. It reminds me that I am wearing a watch with a 'heartbeat'.
Nicely said 👍

Great stuff
Top variant and very practical
Enjoy
Never seen that exact colour combination on a speedy before. What a beauty! Congrats!
Cheers
Congratulations on this great purchase, Peter! One of the most beautiful versions of the Speedmaster. This could easily be my grailwatch.
A real beauty. I love the tall and narrow date (text) complication too.
The surface texture of the dial in the sunlight is amazing. Congrats!
Yeah it does really play well in sunlight
Cheers
Good to hear about the Chrono24 experience. Good to see your "itch" was "scratched." Good vid. Keep at it!
I've never seen that color Omega, its amazing!
I just got mine, and it is incredible, combining with uncle Seiko bracelet makes it much better. Thanks for your review.
It is an amazing model. I have just received my racing model in black on blue and love it

Rotor wobble FTW! I love it too. That and the workhorse reliability of the Valjoux 77xx series.
😂👍👍👍
Ho bro, just bought the same watch but in black as like the black which is more closer to the iconic watch.
Loving it.
Great choice for Speedmaster timepieces! Thanks Peter for the review!
Chrono 24 is great. Have used it.
Great technical re-buy or buy back.

Yep, I like wobble too. And a bit of noise. Reminds you something is going on in there 😝

That is a beautiful watch, and one that doesn't get enough attention compared to the moonwatch.
I agree, but to me this one speaks 👍
Im totally onboard with the rotor wobble, wearing my Guinand GMT 😉👍 Love this Omega 👍
Rotor wobble forever..lol
Absolute beauty. The sinn 556 i m and this wow both incredible pieces you sir are building an exquisite collection. Cheers
Thank you kindly 🙏
Good taste!
I don’t think I could buy a red watch, but that watch is beautiful. That dial texture is amazing in your outdoor shots.
Enjoy listening the features that you like from your perspective. The colour and the date position are really something.
Congratulation.
Thanks
Great vid Peter. That's a real beauty! Would not of thought of a red dial like that, but you've opened my eyes....really like it!
Thanks Pete, this one just made sense for me visually

Cool watch, nice color.
If the watch does not have a screw-in crown, I do not touch the water, no matter what the dial or case back says.
Nice watch!.
