Why do you need to install the Micro Hydro in a river streams ? Since the Micro Hydro generates electricity why not let it power a water pump so the pump can create clean water streams from higher place the cycles keep on running indefinitely ?
Randomly started to get into watching these ‘off grid’ videos? You so called DIY guys are in my eyes fucking geniuses!!!!! So clever, resourceful and visionary!!!! Love it. Excellent work mate!
Congrats from this old American here. And thanks for sharing so many of your ancestors so long ago who came to America and brought their work ethics/ingenuity with them to the "Colonies". Well done, young man!
Look for woundwort on your land. Cultivate it if necessary! An excellent little herb which you can make washes, lotions and poultices from. It earned its name rightfully 😀
Lordy, it's getting exciting! I'm so glad you haven't strung this out to one video per week. Can't wait to see the final result, and your next project. Looks like you've found a way to keep busy having fun, and creating something awesome for yourself, for a long time yet.
Well done again Kris and Hannah. It’s looking amazing, can’t believe your keeping us on a cliff edge with the power output. Can’t wait to see the next video.
The sound as she span up. Awesome. Heart sunk a little as she took load and slowed down. I was expecting it to stall.. ever the pessimist I am. haha Great vid Kris. I am so looking forward to seeing the results. Cheers for taking us along. Neal
it speeds up again after that, its the charge controler working out the ideal voltage. at about 70v it sounds lovely. but it takes the controler a little while to work it all out. thats why i need a better controler.
What is the controller you used? The ones I have used have never been anything greater than 20A at 12v. I started with a few PWM controllers which seemed to boil my batteries dry quite quickly over time I thought despite it not charging until there was enough light to reach the 13.8v needed to charge. Maybe a had dud ones. I eventually got an MPPT controller. It had a digital interface where I could set the dis/charge cutoffs, as well as a switched load output that could have its voltage limits adjusted, as well as the option to have it timed. Great for low light charging too as it has a built in boost converter to utilise all low voltages from the panels from early light. (boat project in my case). Well worth looking into if you haven't already.
absolutely love this series mate. I only discovered you recently and binged your entire roundhouse build in a day. Now all my other subs wait while I hope for a new update from ya. props to you... became my favorite youtuber practically over night!
That's great!!!! You must be very proud. Accuracy in the calculation but also such low lost of pressure with the turbine is amazing. I look forward to see the figures.
Bloody well done, it has been so inspirational watching you on your journey. This is a massive milestone and you should be proud. Simply fantastic and thanks for sharing.
cant wait to see the roundhouse when all your main work is done and you can do all the finishing touches to get it looking spot on. looks good already of course !
Awesome work Kris!! i hardly ever comment on videos on YT, but you young man most certainly deserve it!! All your hard work is truly inspirational. Your videos will be one of my points of contact for when i start my off grid place, either in the uk or abroad. I really hope i am able to get down to help you out this winter/Spring maybe around March time. Keep on keeping on mate
Very clever, you are so smart. It is so nice that you have such good friend as Hannah. You two seem to work so well together and you are hard workers. So glad that all of your efforts are paying off.
I've been looking forward to seeing this complete! Also looking forward to the next project, wherever that may be now that you have power sorted. Watching the videos makes me want to move back to the UK
Well, done! Lots of hard work but you got there. I am sure the system will pay for itself in no time at all. Looking forward to the seeing it up and running. Between the solar on the bright days and this on the wet days you are all set.
Woot! It's been a long walk! My smile was ear-to-ear when you turned the valve on and that thing started spinning. Way to go. Can't wait for the official power production video.
There she blows Captain. ....... satisfaction is earn't by a plan, a design, materials sort, blood , sweat , helping hands , and the force of nature to nurture. You worked hard Kris well done .
"How cool is that?" VERY VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! No wonder you're proud. You ABSOLUTELY should be. Such a lot of planning and work in such tricky terrain. Months of work and keeping going doing bits and bobs, and then this massive push in the last few weeks. Absolutely epic, life changing stuff!!!!! :D
A small part, at best ;) I'm proud, but I'm proud of you and all you've done on this project. It's really amazing. Gives me such a smile because I remember doing a lot of dreaming (and a little bit of planning) about my own hydro project back in the day. You take dreams and you make them reality - that's why people love this channel so much :D
Nice work Kris. I have followed your great efforts and skill in working with wood and fabricating metal etc. You got the PSI at 24 bang on - under load. I think you will get the full 300 watts or more with the flow you have in Winter, may need more storage to keep it all. A brilliant RUclipsr and well presented. Hope you go active as a Radio Amateur when you get time. 73 de G4PEY
You are amazing. How on Earth do you know about all of this. The talent, skill, and knowledge you have is almost unbelievable. If I was a protege of you I could be confident and assured I can live off grid AND survive doing it.............a skill set I truly admire. You're amazing. So grateful for your videos.....refreshing.
A year from now you'll be looking back with pride, knowing any small mistakes you think you made can help this next project....great progress, keep the spirits up.
Mate, I have to say you have done a great job and what a great helper Hannah is. She is beautiful and hard working, wow! Might want to convince her to stay.
Life by Brian This wet patch has been unusual, even for Wales! The second day, where we're puthing the pipe in the trench, was much less horrendously wet thankfully!
i bumped in to the owner of the fam near me the next day, he said that he has a weather monitor and it recorded more rain in one day than he had ever seen on that day we were working on the pipe. his wife had to leave her car down the road and he had to collect her in his truck. apparently the road leading to my place was a river that day. its a good job you didnt need to get home. you would never have got out. crazy,
Wow! Well good on ya for sticking to it. I'm a pretty new subscriber and what you're doing is pretty inspiring. Most people I see doing this stuff are much older than me, but you aren't. Keep it up guys (^_^)
Kris Harbour I can think of worse places to be stuck 😘 But yes, it would have been funny to tell clients I couldn't come to work because I was rained in 😂
Big step forward Kris, Hydro will just keep on giving regardless the time of day. Looks like you will get some real useful generation out of that system. Well done, as always great effort team!
I’m currently in my shed with the lights on and using power tools... the lights are on in the house my laptop and the fridge freezer is now on and the hydro is at half flow 👍😊
Kris Harbour wow that's awesome..keep up the good work. Question .if you were to have 3 turbines in series what would be the water pressure drop if any.
ShadowMadeKiller I do my best 😉 But you know if I hadn't had been there, there's no way he'd have let that cut stop him! I had to insist he let me dig (though it pained him to see me dig because I'm rubbish at it 🤣) and move boulders and stuff! He's a machine, I'm telling you!
Hi Kris, I only discovered your YT channel since Christmas and I've watch all of them over the last month. So impressed with your determination and ingenuity, even when you've been feeling tired and low. You definitely aren't a quitter! You really have achieved so much. Definitely give yourself a pat on the back. I know you'll have tweaks with the Hydro system but I imagine you've already got the next project brewing. Keep up the good/hard work. Looking forward to the next instalment.
Chris, 8:20 you should close the stand pipe end if you want more preasure. You could go to more than 60 psi if you close the stand pipe. Opening the standpipe will reduce the air preasure causing the preasure reduce. And the stand pipe shoul not higher than your intake pipe

Hello kris
I m from india
I want to know about small scale hydro project (step by step)
@@reezalaq6522 I think that it wouldn't create anouf electric
"how cool is that?"
Very cool Kris.
Very very cool.
Congratulations 3 years later.
It would be fair to say you are a clever, hard working bloke. Well done.
Randomly started to get into watching these ‘off grid’ videos? You so called DIY guys are in my eyes fucking geniuses!!!!! So clever, resourceful and visionary!!!! Love it. Excellent work mate!
Your channel is such an inspiration. Thanks for sharing the awesome projects you've been working on.
Congrats from this old American here. And thanks for sharing so many of your ancestors so long ago who came to America and brought their work ethics/ingenuity with them to the "Colonies". Well done, young man!
Wow 😮 fantastic job. You just setup FREE ENERGY, and you showed the world how you did it. Congratulations 🎊🍾🎉🎈
It amazes me, all that power in one small stream, just using the landscape and nature as a generator. So elegant!
Look for woundwort on your land. Cultivate it if necessary! An excellent little herb which you can make washes, lotions and poultices from. It earned its name rightfully 😀

I think he's just too excited about making progress and showing it to you all ;) It's so lush seeing how happy everyone is for him too!
I am awestruck by what you are able to do. I am learning so much!
Well done again Kris and Hannah. It’s looking amazing, can’t believe your keeping us on a cliff edge with the power output. Can’t wait to see the next video.
I just feel privileged to get to help out a little :)
What an exciting moment that must have been. All the work, planning and dreaming materializing into that final result.
The sound as she span up. Awesome. Heart sunk a little as she took load and slowed down. I was expecting it to stall.. ever the pessimist I am. haha

I keep my spare Stanley blades next to the First Aid box because I know when I'm using one I'll need the other.

You are just like me. I walk around with my own 60 liter dustbin when I go for vacation abroad.

Bloody well done, it has been so inspirational watching you on your journey. This is a massive milestone and you should be proud. Simply fantastic and thanks for sharing.
I like how you used the cargo strapes as a tightening mechanism. It's good to see people using the free off the grid natural resources.
Safety first! Really enjoying watching your homestead come together.

Hannah saved the day
Super project - quality work!
It would all have been done fine without me, just maybe a day or two later ;)
the sweet sound of that turbine spooling up. bet it was music to your ears.
Wonderfully in unison with my Fluid Mechanics paper to be sat next week. Good show!
Very clever, you are so smart. It is so nice that you have such good friend as Hannah. You two seem to work so well together and you are hard workers. So glad that all of your efforts are paying off.
Raynola Dominguez Thank you! He's a pleasure to work with. Always one step ahead (or ten!) with thinking through a job 😊 Love working with him ❤

Kris Harbour Yep, but I'll let you off 🤣
Brother so happy to see that turbine spinning. Awesome job.
Well, I'm glad I don't have to wait for Part 17 to get resolution for that cliffhanger moment! I'm watching the playlist. Part 17 is coming right up.
I've been looking forward to seeing this complete! Also looking forward to the next project, wherever that may be now that you have power sorted. Watching the videos makes me want to move back to the UK
Looks like a real fun project as well as a clean source of power. 300 watts is enough to keep a battery bank well topped up.
its awesome to finally see that generator working, gratz
Well, done! Lots of hard work but you got there. I am sure the system will pay for itself in no time at all. Looking forward to the seeing it up and running. Between the solar on the bright days and this on the wet days you are all set.

Approx 300W 24/7 that's fantastic, more than enough.

Top marks Kris well bloody done
Good job, well done and be safe, by the way nice couplings and well flexible tubing too.
That’s very cool. That must be a great feeling.
its the feeling that i work for months for. i stand and feel proud for a bit and then move on to the next project.
I reckon even you can manage to sustain the pride for a day or two for this one, surely?!
You are well justified in being proud of yourself. Congratulations!
WOOO way to go look forward to see what it says metered out.
Fantastic work Kris! Has to feel great to have that done and have a great source of power now!
