Love the make-shift Transit with a 4' level. Well done, Mate.

There is an app for working out elevation.

Thanks for tuning in, just about ready to install the filter prototype at the dam wall. cheers

Good stuff! Right now there's Part 4 on the 'Kris Harbour Natural Building' channel installing MHPGs he makes himself in Wales (I think). Somehow I don't think you need any inspiration at all making the best of what you have going!

Hey Forbearance - I'm not up to a full build on my own. I have heard of Kris Harbour and will look into his ideas. I'm limited with our unit, mainly with what to do with the excess power. I may have to build a hot tub. I'm still working out the finer details and should have something on the channel shortly. Thanks again, cheers.

If you need extra water pressure, you could try starting with the wide pipe, and gradually step down the size, until you have a smaller pipe at the end of your length. That's what some did in gold rush days etc to get a "pressure spray". I personally don't know how this might work for you though, but you could try researching if needed. Good luck, I'm looking forward to see how it all works out.

Hi Linda, I've been working through this over the past days, and it's simpler than i expected. Pressure is based on atmospheric pressure and the weight exerted on it. For every 10mts below the point of discharge (the waterfall) equals 14.7psi 1 Atmosphere. I was a 8 mts below at 10psi. Example 20 mts = 2 atmospheres = 29.4 psi. The further away in height to the generator will increase pressure. I'll test this theory and post. Your reduction in pipe size will increase the spray outlet forcing water into a small hole. Thanks for watching and the advise, cheers

I'm at the 3 min stage, you said you want 300w. From the little I can see you should do that easily. I get 315w from less flow, and about 30psi static head.

Hi Keltus, at a 20mt head the pressure make a difference. I'm relying on volume with only 14.7 psi at 10 mts head. You're lucky to have the height. We will obtain more watts during mid winter with large rainfall. I just worked backwards based on our elecrical useage in the homestead. Thanks for watching, cheers.

I am also building a micro hydro system as we speak. I have roughly 500gpm at 60 ft of head. I should be able to produce 3kw continuous. There are plenty of charts out there to tell you exactly what you need

Also the larger the pipe the more power available

@@ktmrider7592 thanks for the heads up, i'll be trying a true 90mm 3.5" this week to see what flow (Litres per second) we have. Hopefully i can achieve our goal of 7 - 10 litres a second to achieve 300w. Let me know how you go, super interested. Cheers

10 PSI translates to 7 meters of head.

7:10 i don't see how this will provide any meaningful data. 7:49 but, WHAT is the Elevation change (head), between the proposed locations of the intake and the turbine.?!?!

I’m pretty sure you’ll get a better result with the low head generator. Here’s a diy exemple . ruclips.net/video/lBl4Sdw0dXo/видео.html
