I was so happy when i saw the picture and name of this product. Like, this is the dream!! and then to see that it is even more work thant the already better Red Sea Advance NO3 Kit..... what a kick in the balls... Let me know the day a one click Laser meassurer comes out
But then saved the day when they came out with a High Range Nitrate Checker that was only one step AND it measures Nitrate in a usable range, unlike the one in this video. 😉 Check it out here! www.bulkreefsupply.com/nitrate-high-range-colorimeter-hi782-marine-water-hanna-instruments.html
Hanna just spoiled us with the alk checker! Even the phos ULR checker can be a bit of a bear racing to mix in the reagent before it times out and shuts off. There’s just no way I’m doing 20 some odd steps to test for nitrates. Fingers crossed for their next version. 🤞
Well heck almost as complicated as the Hanna calcium test. I’ve gone back to salifert as my Hanna’s sit on the shelf. Kh I don’t worry about with my KH guardian. And man if Hanna sorts out those sachets I might start using them again
This test is very hard to do in practice. One mistake at any point and you can just forget about it and start again. The worst part is the paper filter, its slightly misshapen of off centre then the liquid squirts out the side and if you loose to much your done and will have to start again.
Prepare your paper filter ahead of time. Just tried mine for first time. Went through all the steps to zero the sample.. just to find that they gave me a dead battery. Tried switching as quick as possible and in the end got the inv error, which supposedly means I had the sample and zero vials switched and shld switch & try again. Even tho this is not possible since they are one in the same and I used the right steps & packets in the correct order.. anyone else get this? Wouldnt think the zeroing sample sitting for 45 sec wld cause this but, only thing I can think.
This checker definitely has a learning curve and the filter is a little finicky for my liking. But it does fit a need and give you insight especially if you’re dosing Nitrates
It's one of those "right tool for the right job" situations. For those running something like the Zeovit system where nitrates are very very low, the Nyos nitrate test kit isn't going to have a resolution low enough for their needs. This checker is much more accurate in those near zero ranges. Color blind reefers may benefit from this meter as well.
Thanks for the video and the honesty in comparing products for different ranges.
I've seen surgeries go faster than this but it's really cool.
Damn, those are a lot of steps, just two short of summoning the demon AHRSDFJTESRAYESTAWRDASFCB.
Man’s got very good knowledge ✌️

Thomas always gets a 👍
What’s the difference between the “low range”, “high range” and “no range” Hanna Checkers??? I’ve see all three on the shelf and online??? Help!!
My nitrate checker doesn't have all of this just checker reagent cuvettes and dropper and much easier then this is mine an updated version?
Can we get an investigates episode over this thing to see how accurate it is?
Thomas is the man !!

ever thought of using a separate calibration vial and have the one with reagent ready before starting the test? Quick and easy

Another amazing Hanna product
This does not match the instructions included with the nitrate LR checker 😓. Is this an older version of the checker?

I don't get why you make this video while brs recommends the Nyos Nitrate checker.
