My family camped here when I was a child. I think it was called Travel L. We camped in a tent on the front row. No air conditioning back then 😅. We filled a bucket with water to dip our feet before entering the tent to remove the sand. Fun days. This was in the 70's.
Interesting bit of history! No air conditioning, wow! People were much stronger back in the 70’s! Modern conveniences have made wimps out of us up today 😂.

I think I would not visit the gulf in the hot part of the summer. As a Florida resident we visit the east coast of Florida, the water is much cooler and refreshing. The beaches in Destin are definitely beautiful. We may try it in the shoulder seasons.
Yes that was an incredible hot year! This year was not as hot and it was at the same time of year. We visited camp gulf December of 2022 before we started our channel, and it was nice but the water was way too cold to swim in. We had mid 70’s in day and had 50’s or so at night then. In north Georgia we have some brutal cold winter days so I long for hot days but that year in 2023 was asking for it 😁

We are just weaker today. Tonya grew up with no central AC in hot Georgia. I tell her I cant imagine how she stood that.

Good idea about wipes! Dipping dogs feet in a bucket of water could be messy. Wipes would be a better way for dogs! Thank for sharing!
