One of the things I did want to say about your rant, and about people who DON’T like Senjutsu. I just find it very odd that you dislike an album on the day it came out. Normally, unless its a genre I dislike or an album that is a total dud, I need to spend some time with an album before I form an opinion on it. These people had formed an opinion on it after they had probably listened to the album once, if at all. So forgive me if I disregard their negativity. The fact they also try to have a go at others who were positive about the album just shows you where these people are coming from.
To be honest, I think most of them had already decided they were going to dislike Senjutsu before they even listened to it. A high profile band like Maiden is going to bring out the clowns 🤡 Muppets are best ignored.

The Eddie on the cover of Piece of Mind refers to the song Still Life. Give it another listen.

1. Killers - This is eddie in his natural state
2. Somewhere in time - the attention to is simply outstanding
3. Powerslave - I love the egyptian aesthetic and the grand scale of it
4. The number of the beast - Its a fucking classic, and I love the way eddie looks
5. Iron maiden - I love how intimidating eddie looks
6. Senjutsu - eddie looks so badass
7. Brave new world - eddie looks so ominous and intimidating
8. Seventh son of a seventh son - its veey eerie and creepy. I love it
9. Piece of mind - like you said, it just doesn't fit the album. Its still a classic though
10. A matter of life and death - love the war theme and those sceleton soldiers look badass
11. Fear of the dark - its not really special, but its still pretty cool
12. No prayer for the dying - I dont really like the way eddie looks, but I love the setting
13. The final frontier - the space theme looks cool, I just dont like it as much as the others
14. The book of souls - its nothing special. eddie looks cool though
15. Viritual XI - I dont like how eddie looks
16. The X factor - I just think it looks terrible

I think Piece if mind is in the top 3. Not only is it Eddies most torturous state but, it also represents "Revelations."
I went to rehab a while back and to me it represents how brutal the trip back to "reality" can be.
The cover also doesn't have to fit the album, it has to fit the listener.

14. No Prayer for the dying: this could have been the absolute best maiden cover art. Brilliant idea, terrible execution. The coloring is bad and everything surrounding eddie is badly drawn.
13. The Final Frontier: I like the idea but Eddie looks hideous though.

11. The Book of Souls: the Live Chapter cover should've been the studio album cover.

My favorite part of the Number of the Beast album cover is the little puppet man that the devil controls.
Regarding the cover art, it would have been nice to have included those from the official live albums as well. And maybe from the official compilation albums too. What about the cover art of Life After Death? That's my favorite!

Live After Dead is amazing! Especially on the Album.
Iron Maiden album covers are just iconic and many easily can make it into the best album cover lists. Anyways here's my list.
17. The X Factor- God hate I this boring, colorless, bizarre cover. What happened to Eddie?!
15. Dance of Death- This gives me nightmares, Eddie looks alright, but the cgi models are horrendous.
14. Virtual XL- Kinda looks poorly hand drawn, Eddie looks cool, the colors are cool too, but the stupid soccer field in the corner is unnecessary.
13. No Prayer for the Dying- Eddie looks vicious, but not much else is going on here, and the art isn't that good either.
13. Book of Souls- Badass Eddie, but I wish there was a background instead of black.
12. Iron Maiden- Simple, but a classic, Eddie does look weird though.
11. A Matter of Life and Death- Love the art and skeletons, but you can't barely see Eddie.
10. The Final Frontier- Love the art and colors, yes Eddie is so different but still a interesting concept.
9. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son- Very overrated album and art, but it's great art still, the colors are beautiful and the background is cool, but I never liked Eddie here.
8. Senjustu- Yes I wish there was a background, but Samurai Eddie is probably my favorite Eddie, and the Japanese text adds a nice effect.
7. Fear of the Dark- Classic artwork, and a tree monster Eddie is awesome.
6. Piece of Mind- Second favorite album, and the cover is just so cool, Eddie is badass and scary, and he's been chained up and first time we see his amazing lobotomise design.
5. Killers- Just a amazing classic, Iconic Eddie and the amazing art.
4. Brave New World- Favorite Iron Maiden album and amazing art. The colors are great and future London down there looks awesome. Also Eddie is so intimidating.
3. Powerslave- The amount of epicness is outstanding and Eddie as a pyramid god is amazing.
2. The Number of the Beast- The most metal cover ever. The fire, the lightning, the giant Killers Eddie with
flames in his hands, and puppeteering freaking SATAN!!
1. Somewhere in Time- Best album probably ever, the colors, the art, Eddie is so awesome, and the many references.

I seem to recall that the DOD cover was only a mockup but Steve liked it so much he just said to go with that one - would have been cool to see what the actual finished product might of looked like - I'm surprised they haven't revamped it - maybe one day!
The Peace of mind theme is related to the arrival of Nico McBrain, he is the representative of The madness of Eddie he is the new brain in the band, and drummers are seem to be a bit "crazy"

I actually have a large official oil painting of the album cover it's poster size. And framed hanging in my music room. I believe it could be very rare? I'd put Dance of Death last as far as album covers go in my opinion. Verygood video \m/

These are two of the best album covers IMO.
Of course art is subjective. But I always loved Fear of the dark and it is one of my favorite IM album covers. Many other covers are also legendary - Tailgunner and Maiden England are pretty awesome. And of course Live after death.

I have to be honest here! I absolutely love the artwork of Derek Riggs, the man is a genius!!! With that being said, Killers, Powerslave, Somewhere in time and Live after death (yes, I know it's not a studio album but still...) are eternally engaged in a fight within me for that No1 spot! As for the least favorite cover, I agree with you and it's the X-Factor one. What a way to introduce Bruce's successor to Maiden fans all around the world... Bad idea, really bad.
Poweslave cover is my favorite.

14. The X Factor - Dark, fits the album, though uncomfortable to watch for real
13. A Matter Of Life and Death - Moody, fits the album, but to be honest, if even detailed it's just feels weak
12. Dance Of Death - though even 3d sucks, the idea and athmosphere is something i feel here. This is why it is so high.
11. Seventh Son Of The Seventh Son - It is bright and shiny, what feels like what album is, though never really like cover that much.
10. Piece Of Mind - Great Idea - poor execution. Black and Yellow almost the only colours, it doesn't feet the album, but at least it is dark and you can enjoy it.
9. Fear Of The Dark - Lazy. It's not bad. It's just lazy.
8. The Number Of The Beast - everything said in the video.
7. Killers - everything said in the video x2, but not a number 1 for me.
6. No Prayer For Dying - I don't think it is poorly executed. I think everything great about this one, fits everything.
5. Powerslave - Iconic, even being bright, really is dark and fits the mood of the album
4. Senjetsu - Great Desing of Eddy and Logo
3. Virtual XI - Dark, contrast, fits the album being more Judas Priest than Maiden, and still being pretty dark.

Powerslave cover is like Earth Wind and Fire's All In All.
I like most Maiden covers, „Somewhere“, „Seventh Son“, Powerslave“ and „Killers“ are my favorites. I really don‘t like „Dance of death“, „AMOLAD“ and also „Fear of the dark“, the first cover not created by Derek Riggs. That was a big letdown for me back in the days when they released this record.
I am a big Iron Maiden fan, I have painted a few album covers in oil painting and they are still hanging in my walls. That is how much I love some of those covers. But I got to be honest. The only artworks I like are:
Live after Death, The Trooper, Killers, Iron Maiden, Fear of the Dark and Piece of Mind.
I could live with: The Number of the Beast, Powerslave and Somewhere in Time
But the rest IMHO are almost cringy.
Liked what you said at the beginning. 100% agreed, though I‘m one of those who think Senjutsu is rather mediocre. Liked it at first but after three listenings it started to bore me pretty much the whole way through.
The artwork on the other hand is one of their best IMO.
For me the best one is Somewhere in time, my least favorite is Dance of Death. I would even call it one of the worst cover artworks of all time…

Every cover by Derek Riggs is an absolute winner to me. He's top notch and just fit with MAIDEN like no other. Riggs for the win!

It pains me to see Dance of Death cover art because I love the album itself so much... I'm thinking a lot about how many people skipped this one just because the cover screams "IT SUCKS".

Dance of Death is one of the worst album covers I’ve ever seen lol

Fear Of The Dark is and was my least favourite up until that album. It's not bad per se in my opinion it just didn't and doesn't look like Eddie because it was the bands' first without Derick Riggs. I still don't dit it, although the concept is reasonable. Each to their own I guess.
