Why does Angelina perform barefoot? It might bring a tear to your eyes. It all stems from a promise she made to herself at the age of six. While traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, they encountered a young orphan girl who had no shoes and had scarred feet. This girl weighed people with scales to earn money. Angelina gave her own favorite shoes to the girl, and when asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, the girl said she wanted to be a doctor but couldn't because she had to take care of her siblings. When Angelina was asked the same question, she said she wanted to sing for the world. The young girl promised to pray for Angelina. Since that day, Angelina has performed barefoot as a reminder of those less fortunate. At the age of nine, she even wrote a book about this experience titled "Between Two Hearts," becoming the youngest ever published author in Norway. This is why everyone loves Angelina as they do. It is not just the music but the person behind it spreading love and peace! This is a rabbit hole from which you will never want to escape!
This song is actually not a sad song but one of Hope. Yes there is a melancholy tone but the lyrics depict hope for the future and hope that your loved ones are always with you.

Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at 6 years old, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them.
Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true, you have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day, 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.”
From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

Sir, when Angelina was a little girl, her beloved Japanese grandfather took her with him into Oslo/Norway, where he helped the homeless community with food and, sometimes, a job. Today she honors his legacy by helping the community in LA.
When grandpa knew, he was dyeing, he told Angelina: I will be on the moon, see everthing you do. You´ll never alone. AND he told her to stay true to herself and she would never regret it. He passed away around November 19th 2019.
I know this from Miss Angelina´s social media, where she told the story of receiving the news of his death.

Theres great news for fans in the US today. Angie just announced two concerts in Las Vegas on Feb 29th.
Miss Angelina was 6 years old. She took a winter stroll with her mom trough the streets of a Middle Eastern City of high ground level, where she met a impoverished girl around her age. barefoot in raggs, in the ice cold rain, weighing people for a bit of money. Even little girls are send to jail for begging by the Mullas. Angelina envisioned herself into this girl. Than she walked over and struck up a conversation in Persian Farsi. I read Angelina´s book 4 times. In the end, Angelina gave the girl her shoes and vowed, never to perform on stage in shoes, as long as there are children without shoes. She is a woman of her word to this day.

If you want a happy moment that you and your wife will never forget, Angelina is performing in two concerts on February 29th at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas on the same stage where Elvis gave his last performance. ( Check Ticketmaster for availability).Her fans will problably have a meet,and greet at the hotel. You will get to meet many Angels who are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Buckeye, thanks for your reaction on this special day, when tickets went on sale for Angelina's concert at Westgate Casino in Las Vegas on February 29. "Million Miles" was released about 8 months after I learned about Angelina. It was the first 8 months of the pandemic and I had lost 5 loved ones over a 3+ year period prior. I didn't understand how much Angelina's music was affecting me emotionally until this song was released and I wept at first listen.
*Why Angelina always performs barefoot*
At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road, asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina took off her shoes so as to not get the scale dirty and stepped on the scale many times to make the girl feel better. Angelina befriends the girl who was not wearing shoes and has scars on her feet, and learns she is an orphan. The orphan girl tells Angelina how beautiful she thinks her shoes are. Angelina says her shoes don’t fit her well and she wants to give her shoes to the orphan girl who thanks Angelina for giving her the shoes.
Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” Angelina told the girl to never give up on her dreams. The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true.
Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot to remind her of all the children who are less fortunate. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. A nice reaction my friend! Yes, her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a poor shoeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. @@billeaton9562 hi Biil - funny thing there is always Disput around Angels about her age at different Performances or how tall Angelina is or about the circumstances of her encounter to princess in Teheran - so many tell she was 9 years 2 months when performing "I put a spell on you" - i heard from hard die Angels that indeed she was 8 shy to her 9. birthday in 2014 but the Video was released in 2015 - and many Angels explane the barefoot thing by her visiting the middle erst with Granny and Mom when it actually was a residing because mum Sarah was working as a japanese language teacher in the Japanese school in Teheran (but i dont know how long she worked there) - many people tend to mixup this and i think a real and good Researched Documentary will put things really right cheers

The music video of Million Miles was filmed and directed by Angelina’s Iranian grandmother Mery Zamani who is also Involved with production and is often by Angelina’s side in the studio when Angelina is recording, The video also features Angelina’s sister Juliette who is seen running having fun and being chased by Angelina’s uncle Mike, uncle Mike is Angelina’s manager, their is also an artistic version of the song where Angelina’s grandmother is the talented artist who created the artwork !

The barefoot is part of Angelina's mission to get shoes all kids of this world and she set up a charity for this. When she visited Iran, her grandmothers country of origin, she saw a young girl barefoot begging at the side of the road. Angelina gave the girl her shoes and decided to always perform without shoes. Along with her grandmother, who is a known artist, they wrote and published a book about the incident. It made Angelina the youngest person in Norway to publish a book. The proceedes go to her charity, so far she has collected, along with others, over 21 million Euro's.

@@103mrg I misspoke about being homeless. As for vow, it probably wasn't said directly to the girl, but to herself at some point. It was because of this experience she goes barefoot. The question is often asked why barefoot, and it always comes back to this experience. That is the takeaway. Whether she was homeless (I misspoke) or a poor 7 yr old girl on the street weighing people for money isn't too important of a difference. People want to know why barefoot and that experience is why. It shows who she was and is.

@@clones365 That experience was not the "why?"; it was the catalyst: Here Angelina is quoted in an interview with American Songwriter: Ever since the young singer gave that girl her shoes, she’s performed without wearing her own...... “I want to remind myself that there are less fortunate people around the world who need help,” she says. “It is a great reminder for me.”....There are several other video clips where she has repeated this reason. It should be noted that there has never been any substantiation of her making any vow, ;let alone qualifying it with "until all the children in the world have shoes."

Such poetic prose from Angelina was recorded at 14.
