@Cole AlanClint says that we all get to choose what we carry. He chooses a 1911. He also frequently carries a glock. He has the most experience with a 1911, but likes both. He has said many times, pick what you like and be familiar with the system. I’m not going to go and rock a Walther CCP, or a Ruger 57. I’ve never shot one. I’m going to stick with a 1911 or a Glock of some kind because I know the system better than anything and I know they do not fail Edit: he has never said that we should all carry a 1911. Some people need a Bersa Thunder .380, some need a Glock 21 in .45.

Jesus Christ I couldn't imagine being like "i'm cool smoking that based on my assumptions." I also I love how you push home "you can and should carry, but you also must be proficient and accountable for that weapon" The number of guys I know who carry and never go to the range, or don't practice the basics you've talked about is baffling. It's like having a car but never learning to drive. What's the point in carrying if you're just as likely to hit someone you're not aiming at as you are the person you are aiming at? A well armed society is a polite society, but a well armed society that doesn't practice with their weapons is fucking terrifying.
Gentlemen, I haven’t shot much since 2000 and not at all for the last 10 yrs. Aging, I doubt that I will ever miss since unlikely that I’m aiming at any human who ain’t close up and threatening. I still clean my glocks and mossberg and my guns from the 60s but my hands hurt. Ha ha have fun
its scary how many people out there don't know how to use the weapon that they got for themselves. not sure if they realize that bullets can ricochet lol
Great stuff as usual. However, I am going to make one comment regarding the seatbelt issue. You are more likely to get in a collision where you want your seatbelt to work properly than you are to get into a scenario that requires a draw from concealed while seated and belted in, so I would recommend against lifting the lap belt up/over/behind the holster. For a lap belt to work properly, it needs to lay on top of the "hip pointers" or wings of the pelvis, which for the vast majority of people is the same general area as the pants belt. When seated in a car, the "ideal" positioning of the seatbelt might actually be _below_ your pants belt (unless you're wearing super low-rise/low-waist pants or some such). Having the seatbelt above the pants belt by a significant margin (closer to the belly button) means that the belt is not covering the pelvis, and hence instead of a strong bony structure with skeletal support, it is rather "restraining" the soft tissue of the lower abdomen. And yes, it is "soft tissue" regardless of how ripped your 6-pack is, because large structural bones are far stronger in compression than any muscle group. In a crash, this bad placement of the lap belt can cause significant bruising and internal injuries, as well as possible lower spinal damage and increased likelihood of "submarining" the lap belt -- meaning your hips slide forward under the lap belt and pull your torso down and forwards through the lap belt, like a submarine slipping under the surface of the water -- which can lead to knees striking the under-dash panel which increases likelihood of knee/femur injuries. Proper seatbelt positioning would essentially have the seatbelt more or less overlap your gun carry belt if not slightly lower, overlapping the body of the holster, and while I've been living overseas for the past few years and hence haven't been in a car with a modern carry holster, I imagine it wouldn't be that much more uncomfortable than carrying in a regular chair sitting position with the pants belt cinched down a bit more. And in any case, this positioning of the lap belt still leaves the grip of the pistol completely free, since the seatbelt is down by the trigger guard area of the holster, so you'd still have decent access to draw in the event that it's needed (not much different to drawing from seated in an office chair or restaurant booth besides the limited lateral mobility and the steering wheel in the way like the restaurant table). Anyway, just my $0.03 (inflation), and as usual your individual situation, priorities, and clothes/gear/seat fitment will dictate.
We’ll to me it depends on your situation are you more likely to crash and need a seat belt or more likely to get shot at in Chicago in taking my chances that I won’t crash but in Utah I’m pretty sure ima need that seat belt more than a gun it really all depends pros and cons to every opinion

For those with a little more “survival weight”, (I love that phrase, I plan on using it from now on 😂), here is one more reason to jettison that weight: you can conceal carry in the appendix position. In addition to this tactical advantage, losing that extra energy store will improve your reaction time, mental clarity, and physical stamina.
Agreed. We all spend so much time in our vehicles, yet I rarely see YT gun guys go over this topic. I carry IWB 4 o’clock and with a seatbelt on, there is no way I can get to my weapon quickly. I picked up a Ruger 357 wheel gun that I now keep in the center console, but rarely train with it.

It’s cool to see the evolution of his channel. The confidence he displays in his current videos are awesome and hilarious. Love the Channel dude you are a Gem here on RUclips
One thing I BEG people who conceal carry is to hold yourself to a higher standard, not only in how good you are with your gun, but to do everything to de-escalate situations. In my state, we've had several incidents recently in my city where someone is legally concealed carrying, and they don't remove themselves from a confrontation, causing tempers to continue flaring, but they won't just back down because, "fuck you, I have a gun", and then someone loses their life over something incredibly stupid when it didn't need to keep heading in that direction.
yup, there are a lot of people who get drunk on the power of having a firearm and lose all regard for the responsibility that comes with one too. Use it if you NEED to, it is a last resort. Don't use it to protect your own ego.
The vast majority of civilian defensive encounters with a handgun involve shooting distances of 7 yards or less, most even 3 yards or less. At that distance, the ammo type will not determine whether or you hit the target, but FMJ will definitely make it more likely that you over penetrate. And you are accountable for every round that leaves your muzzle.
@@inFAIMous03 about half of the deaths related to firearms in america are from a .22 bullet, dont be mistaken if it hits you in the wrong spot your gonna drop like any other bullet.

I use 124g ball for training and then a duty ammo for carry. I’ve tried different rounds and found a good combo that shoots very similar. That being said a hit with ball ammo is better than a miss duty ammo.
I'm 51 & a Army veteran, 4yr. 1990s. I use 9x19mm +P mainly 124gr. In 2022, I carry 9mm bonded rounds; Winchester PDX1 or Golden Saber +P. I used to tote Hornady Critical Duty. 124gr +P. Another good point would be to train your early warning radar. Train to avoid potential volatile situations in the first place. Listen to your gut and your instincts. Avoidance and descalation are always preferable to violent altercations.
Better to run and end things with a much higher chance to live another day rather than an altercation to end violent and have a much higher chance of being put in the hospital (or the grave). All comes down to the situation at hand.
Pro tip for you dads or dads-to-be, who carry appendix while driving: maternity seat belt adjuster. It keeps the waist belt away from your stomach so you can draw easily without snagging. My wife had one in every car when she was pregnant and I still use them
@Jesse Robinson Rambo? I wouldn't go that far. Just an infantry Marine with 10+ years experience who carries every day. I've trained with the military, John McPhee and Tier One Group out in Arkansas, just to name a few. Seat belt is super important, always keep it on! No one wants to get shot, crash and then fly through the windshield. Which is why I ride the way I do, strap is still protecting you, it's just under your gut and braces your thighs a bit. No one ever said not to wear a seatbelt, especially me. Thank you for your time 🤙
Oh, that might be me minus a few years lol. My 1911 was gifted to me at a young age and has been reliable, but the barrel jabs my junk in the front, and prints more than a laserjet on the sides so I'll take the paralysis when I get jumped in instead. Worst comes to worst, maybe it will make the bullets more deadly from getting cooked in the crack.

@@dgd947a15fl You missed the point of the comment; of you’re in a situation where you actually need night sights, it would be too dark for you to ID what you’re aiming at.
@@epitaph3988 No, I understood the point. But there's nothing about having night sights that means you can't also have a mounted light. Your light illuminates the target, it doesn't illuminate your sights. So in any situation where you'd want additional illumination to hell you see your target, you probably also need additional illumination to help you see your sights.
The whole point of night sights isn't to ID ur target. It's so that u can have 102% confidence about where ur gun is precisely pointing at. So u might not be able to see the target, but you will point in the direction with confidence lol
I learned the importance of a strong CC belt when I had to figure out how to carry in elastic waistband clothes. Just wear the belt under your pants and holster the weapon on it. Helps conceal it and doesn’t drag on your clothes also very secure especially if you carry a large revolver.
I've changed to a thicker, heavier belt, and my draws are far controllable, definitely a game changer. For me, the square edged, heavy leather belts perform better, but that is probably different from person to person. VERY good video btw, this should be "must see" type of informative video for anyone carrying a firearm. Very clear, very honest, and to the point. Thanks man.
Agree 100%, a nice thick belt gives a stable anchor point for the draw. If it pulls up significantly before clearing the holster, put it back on the shelf.
Makes sense. I’ve heard other channels talk about how people train with FMJs then stick +P+ stuff in their gun and wonder why the recoil is different. I think the best compromise would be just to test which defensive stuff shoots closest to your training ammo or vice-versa.
Pretty silly of him to carry FMJ and say it’s because of where it’s zeroed and what he practices with. He should know better. The difference between POI is measured in fractions of an inch in any self defense distances. (And you can still buy a few extra HP to learn where it hits at long range compared to FMJ if you regularly practice that far.) Zero with what HP you carry, buy training FMJ that’s somewhat close in recoil if really it means that much to you (it doesn’t matter but “you do you”), and then just accept the negligible difference in hits on target that you’ll probably NEVER EVEN NOTICE. And FMJ removes the thing that makes 9mm so competitive with its bigger brothers, which is modern defensive bullet technology.
I was surprised at his choice as well when Gold Dot and HST are things that exist. Then again I’m shooting 25 and in not out to 150. My cadence isn’t effected by standard pressure 9mm from 115 to 147. Carry 147 HST and Gold Dot and until the drought shot either AE 147 Federal Syntech Training match 147 or Lawman 147.
Finally... Someone talking sense about ammo and full sized weapons... Thank you for standing confidently for what you believe in... Keep FUELING the FIRE 👊🏻👊🏻

Leather holsters are comfortable, but they can deform or bend over time/extended use if you get the ones that are form fitting to your gun. My uncle put a bullet through his butt cheeks because of this exact issue. The the leather holsters that aren't skin tight with a clip or strap over the grip to keep the gun in place are the perfect ones to me if I don't want a kydex holster or a neoprene one.
We had that happen when deployed to Africa. Bunch of us walking around in civvies and carrying camping chair bags with M4s in them. Nothing suspicious there. Lol. I was issued an M9 so concealment was pretty easy for me.
One thing about leaving your mag compressed with ammo in it: it'll be fine. Springs do NOT get weak over time, compressed or depressed. Using them, as in cycling ammo through them, will cause metal fatigue and wear out the spring, however.
Don't older mags have that issue? I imagine newly made mags can handle millions of compression and decompression cycles no issue but mags say, made in the 70s (say for an AR) could have issues.
Steel changes when you strain harden it. One bend and steel changes. Repeated bending and steel changes more. Eventually it becomes too hardened to bend anymore and will crack. How many times does it need to be bent before cracking? No idea.
I have left my mags loaded for close to 10 years now and they have always functioned properly. I typically take the hollowpoints out at the range and load FMJ to shoot.

If you empty an entire magazine in a self-defense scenario, you’ll be on the local TV news. If you need to reload, they’ll make a movie about your life.
Shit happens...mags can fail, mags can jam, mag could get accidentally released and end up on the ground or any number of things. So why not carry a spare? Plus for me the spare helps “smooth out” my waist, makes it actually conceal better by looking like im fatter and not have a weird bulge
As it turns out, most people in a high stress situation empty the gun thinking they've only fired 5 rounds. If you dump a 7rd mag from a compact into a gang banger and it slide locks, his buddy can see that your gun is empty, and you'll want to make it not-empty ASAP.
@@kerbalairforce8802 To be clear, I’m not making fun of people who carry an extra mag. It’s a good idea for the reasons others have mentioned, i.e. malfunctions happen. The purpose of a carry gun is to escape a bad situation with your life, not stick around for an extended firefight. Most civilian self-defense shootings are over in three shots at most. If you dump an entire mag in a gangbanger’s general direction, he’ll either run or be dead. If a civilian needs to reload because he’s facing multiple attackers then, live or die, there’ll be a movie about his life.

I grew up shooting his P220. And decided to buy one of my own a few weeks back and it’s made its way into my carry options.) 3. Glock 43, 9mm I have two holsters a dedicated ankle holster (I Personal don’t like carrying on the ankle) as well as a second ankle holster that also doubles as a front right pocket holster. That is my primary option for short trips where I’m not expecting to be out of the house for more then 30 minutes.

For my EDC pistol, I ended up going with an RM08 (dual illuminated; green 12.9 triangle). Yes, it does get a bit dim indoors but I also use a nightstick 850xls with irons cowitnessed to the RMR. The reason is that on 2 of my other pistols that had optics, each had bottom batteries that needed replacing every year-ish. The first time I replaced my first battery, the mounting screws stripped the threads. The second one sheared off 1 screw and the head stripped in the other. All of these were screws that came with the original typical semi-permanent thread locker and everything was installed 100% to spec (12-20 in/lb) with a torque wrench. I couldn't use the usual blackout bits so I ended up snapping the optic off, backing the threaded end out, buying a new mounting plate/screws, and having to reinstall. One of the screws that holds the plate onto the slide stripped also, meaning I had to re-tap the slide. It was all insanely arduous and infuriating considering it was a very basic task on a very refined gun with a top-end optic being performed by a highly experienced fabricator/gunsmith. With the RM08, I never have to remove the optic so I used heavy duty thread locker and have not had a single issue since. I always HIGHLY recommend that you use an optic on your slide that does not need to be removed for any reason. There are awesome sights that have top-load or side-load battery trays or there are the fiber optic and tritium sights that are good for 12-15 years (for the tritium) and get brighter outdoors than ANY other sight. I'll take the dim reticle in dark areas (still able to cowitness irons) for 12 years over stripping screws and tapping threads every year. Hell, I probably won't even have the pistol for 12 years since I love the trading game. Peace y'all, and keep one in the pipe!
Night sights are good especially with a weapon light, in my opinion, because in a dark house, if you utilize the light to identify the target you will effect your night vision in addition to the invader. Night sights are easier to pick up for you after you deploy a light than standard sights. That may just be me because I have an astigmatism which light especially effects my night vision so the night sights are particularly easy for me to pick up after deploying the weapon light.
An issue that I've had with the KORE belts: The pins in the buckles can walk out. I own 3 buckles and 4 belts from KORE. I will continue to use them, but it is something to watch for. The one time that I complained about it, they replaced it. One of my other buckle's pins have started to walk out. I just haven't contacted them about it yet.
I had the screws on my Blade Tech polymer left hand holster pop out. Tension, stress, moving can cause fatigue or wear even on kydex or boltron style concealed rigs. I currently do not own any leather holsters but I'd think a high end brand like Alessi, Galco, Kramer, Mitch Rosen, or Milt Sparks could be ok.

The upcharge for inflation had me rolling lol
@@hunterb4663 same lol. I'm going to start using it
Clearly stated as to the proper placement of seatbelt. Can’t be stressed enough.
We’ll to me it depends on your situation are you more likely to crash and need a seat belt or more likely to get shot at in Chicago in taking my chances that I won’t crash but in Utah I’m pretty sure ima need that seat belt more than a gun it really all depends pros and cons to every opinion

The vast majority of civilian defensive encounters with a handgun involve shooting distances of 7 yards or less, most even 3 yards or less. No, I understood the point.
Bruh I was hearing him talk like “carry what you practice most with” and I was like “no way the motherfucker carries FMJ” and he said it. Mind blown.
Makes sense. I’ve heard other channels talk about how people train with FMJs then stick +P+ stuff in their gun and wonder why the recoil is different. I think the best compromise would be just to test which defensive stuff shoots closest to your training ammo or vice-versa.
Sig’s FMJs and HPs feel the same so I shoot each the same
@@grimsurvivor same as lawman and speer GD
Pretty silly of him to carry FMJ and say it’s because of where it’s zeroed and what he practices with. He should know better.
The difference between POI is measured in fractions of an inch in any self defense distances. (And you can still buy a few extra HP to learn where it hits at long range compared to FMJ if you regularly practice that far.)
Zero with what HP you carry, buy training FMJ that’s somewhat close in recoil if really it means that much to you (it doesn’t matter but “you do you”), and then just accept the negligible difference in hits on target that you’ll probably NEVER EVEN NOTICE.

One thing about leaving your mag compressed with ammo in it: it'll be fine. Springs do NOT get weak over time, compressed or depressed. Using them, as in cycling ammo through them, will cause metal fatigue and wear out the spring, however.
Imagine when people realize that the spring is slightly compressed when it's empty.
No idea.

Got a good belt and carry a glock 19x appendix no issues. Fat guy out
This is literally perfect timing. I turned old enough to conceal carry about 5 months ago and finally got enough money to buy my first gun last week. Thanks for the help!
Just please take some courses and practice 1st. As of last year, concealed carriers are just as dangerous to innocent people as they are to actual bad guys. That 100% needs to change if we want to keep our rights.

I use a nylon Kore belt and it’s awesome quality. I’ve been through several, a vedder cobra buckle belt, blue alpha gear hydrid edc belt, versacarry leather belt... and so on. Kore is the best. I even use it for OWB, 2 pistol mags and an AR mag, and small med kit when I go to the range. Works amazingly and stays secure even with extra weight, so IWB is easy work for it.
Discipline is easy when you have a disciplinarian standing over you the hard part is doing it alone. Really thorough video, well done. Thanks.
Went to the tailor to get measured for a buddies wedding a couple months ago, forgot to take my pistol off, he was measuring my waist...we made eye contact. I giggled

Thank you for starting off with the BELT! I harp on belts to my carrying friends every chance I get.
I have 3 guns that I regularly switch between when carrying concealed. I have different reason and holster for each one.
1. FN FNS-9C, 9mm Sub-Compact carried in a kydex IWB holster in a 3 o’clock position. Works good for me, reliable, and easy to use and comfortable to wear for 10 hours at a time.
2. Sig Sauer P220, .45 Full Size, Carried in a Galco leather shoulder holster. I have other holsters for this gun but the shoulder holster is 95% of how I carry it. (This was the first handgun in a real caliber I ever shot, my dad carried his as his duty gun in law enforcement back in the 90’s and kept his when the department changed over to Glock. I grew up shooting his P220. And decided to buy one of my own a few weeks back and it’s made its way into my carry options.)

I’ve always concealed Glock 19 Gen 3, same reason, I’ve always had this firearm and I’ve had it for a long time. With that being said, I have had ZERO issues with it living in Alaska. Always reliable for me, even in low negative temps.

I saw all the flaws that Trex Arms holsters had then I started looking for a holster that had remedied these flaws and then I found two companies that both remedy these problems in their own ways ! Tier 1 Concealment and Slim Fit Holsters are the kings of holsters with the highest amount of firearms and weapon light combinations on the market !!! I love both of these holster companies !!!
My go to belt is the comfort concealment belt. It’s comfy as hell and I can wear any pants or shorts or gym shorts or even a bathing suit with it. It’s super sturdy when on. Can’t explain enough how much I love it.

Should you still conceal carry going into a place with a no gun sign ?
@@squidy4082 It’s your choice really. Just make sure no one sees it and you should be good, it is concealed carrying after all, whole point is no one knows you have it. If an employee does approach you about carrying just kindly say you’ll leave and walk out. Should be no problem. 👍 If it escalates into being a big deal though and police get involved, you will most likely deal with some punishment.
I will add that I’m mainly talking about grocery stores, movie theaters, etc. Read your state laws where they specifically state places you’re not allowed to carry and I wouldn’t take the chance.

I've been wearing a Hank's belt for about 4 years now. Carries my OWB holster, pistol, second mag holder, and EDC carry pouch that has my Leatherman Wave, Fenix light, and a Boker pen.
I bought one of their belts 6 years ago before I even got into concealed carry and it's still going strong. Now that I'm working on getting my CCL I'm planning on buying another of theirs and getting a thicker and wider one, as the one I bought was a bit thinner. I love their belts.

I don't agree with all of GT, Mike points but he does bring up a few things. I use 3 dot Trijicon night sights. HD orange or with my Glock 22 MOS gen 5, big suppressor style. I also add a few Glock parts. Tango Down slide stop, Vickers magazine release(left hand). Glock Store slide lock(great for any carry or 🚔 type Glocks), sometimes I get LWD 🐺 extractors & Double Diamond 3.5lb connector.

I got tired of crunching my nutz with appendix carry which is why I now carry at 2:45 ish....slightly forward of 3 o'clock.
Hey dad, remember to adjust your camera exposure to compensate for your god-given angelic glow.
Lol
Night sights are good especially with a weapon light, in my opinion, because in a dark house, if you utilize the light to identify the target you will effect your night vision in addition to the invader. Night sights are easier to pick up for you after you deploy a light than standard sights. That may just be me because I have an astigmatism which light especially effects my night vision so the night sights are particularly easy for me to pick up after deploying the weapon light.
Your success is not reflective of your humility. Thank you for this video.
Loctite
I had the screws on my Blade Tech polymer left hand holster pop out. Tension, stress, moving can cause fatigue or wear even on kydex or boltron style concealed rigs. I currently do not own any leather holsters but I'd think a high end brand like Alessi, Galco, Kramer, Mitch Rosen, or Milt Sparks could be ok.
