LYRICS
With a bat
Go dangerous on that cat
Go Traxman, hit it from the back
DJ Assault, bitch, let me bang
Bruiser Brigade, we run that train
Put that thang in her caboose
Only way you hang is with a noose
Beef with us, it ain't no truce
Y'all niggas lame, y'all ain't like us
Hanging with the devil off angel dust
For that money, in God we trust
All fall victim for greed and lust
Who you 'pose to trust when guns gone bust?
Living every day like it's the end
Just waking up, feelin' like a sin
Gotta keep a eye on your friends
Cause everybody hungry in them streets
Nigga rob ya grandma for something to eat
Know it's fucked up, that's how it be
Growing up living everyday in the D
And it don't seem like shit gon' change
No time soon in the City of Boom
Doomed from the time we emerged from the womb
So to cope, drugs we consume
Here we go, now, here we go
Ain't no water, how a flower gon' grow?
Ain't no change, then how we gon' change?
No umbrella, we stuck in the rain
Dark clouds hanging all over our head
No sunshine and them showers be lead
Lighting up squares and them dots be red
Now ya best friend gets shot in the head, damn
Oh, you ain't know that
When it rain, when it pour, get your ass on the floor now
Oh, you ain't know that, did you?
Better duck when you hear them gunshots go off
Pop off when them shots go off
Knock off, you try to play me soft
Glocks all in yo face, dog
No baseball, better run home
Hit ya lung, blood on yo tongue
Exorcist, yo head get spun
Exodus, I might forget
Bitch, when it's time for your ass be done
You ain't heard it like this before
They don't do it like this no more
That get on up, that get on up
That get on up, up on the floor
You ain't heard it like this before
They don't do it like this no more
That get on up, that get on up
That get on up, up on the floor
Oh, you ain't know that
When it rain, when it pour, get your ass on the floor now
Oh, you ain't know that, did you?
When it rain, when it pour, get your ass on the floor now
Oh, you ain't know that
When it rain, when it pour, get your ass on the floor now
Oh, you ain't know that, did you?
When it rain, when it pour, get your ass on the floor now
Time for the percolator
Murder music orchestrator
Point blank hollow tip circulator
Your ass lucky if you on respirator
I'm like Vega rolling with that blade
Kid don't play, wanna catch that fade?
Shoot the house party up with them K's
Shut down when we hit the DJ
That Detroit shit, do the Rambisco
Minks and Gators, pistol the disco
Eating crawfish up in Fishbones
Heater off safety, watching the Pistons
Niggas get pissed on no-fly zone
Call Uncle Trick when you hit my home
Beef with him? Don't hit my phone
D vs. everybody, ain't no song
Coming from the city where them goons be lurking
Get caught slipping, yo ass will be hurting
That's for certain, yo ass be curtains
Young niggas out there puttin' that work in
On you scoring for a pair of Jordans
Whole damn city probably got a couple warrants
Why the county jail always stay crowded
They don't give a fuck, they just go POP
Oh, you ain't know that
When it rain, when it pour, get your ass on the floor now
Oh, you ain't know that, did you?
Better duck when you hear them gunshots go off
Pop off and all them shots go off
Knock off, you're tryna play me soft
Glocks out in your face, dawg
No baseball, better run home
You ain't heard it like this before
They don't do it like this no more
That get on up, that get on up
That get on up, up on the floor
You ain't heard it like this before
They don't do it like this no more
That get on up, that get on up
That get on up, up on the floor
Oh, you ain't know that
When it rain, when it pour, get your ass on the floor now
Oh, you ain't know that, did you?
When it rain, when it pour, get your ass on the floor now

pickelmarc good friends, danny said donald was the only real one when he was having a mental breakdown
this beat is like old school Detroit mixed with the eerie part of an 80s horror movie and then shit gets 2016 hype
Finn Mikkelsen Danny's music does that type of shit. Especially Atrocity Exhibition that was some crazy warped shit.
some parts are sampled from Delia Derbyshire - Pot au Feu, a female composer from '60s Britain. pretty eerie stuff!
Boopie:
Ha ha ha----that pretty much describes this song (and the video) in a nutshell, lol. It looks like it was shot on the east side of Detroit, btw.
Who was a pioneer in techno music.
wit a postpunk baseline like holy shit
I can now confirm that Danny Brown can literally rap over any beat no matter how crazy it is

Hearing this live made me realize how hard it goes.

Translation?
Until 1:27 the song is so suspenseful because there's no bass at all and barely any percussion. It makes it so tense wow and the bass when it comes in is amazing
Ned Grandy it’s why Atrocity Exhibition is an experimental classic
yeah dude
Every time this play I feel like going back in time and dance with my ancestors
I could tell you why there’s no bass but then I’d have to tie you up to my space ship and leave you in another galaxy you’ve never heard of before.
Delia Derbyshire was genius for creating this sound
This is in-game footage of that new Kojima game
id dig it
danny's gonna have a baby
make a Dom digs on the track?
Carter Penny Will probably do this.
Dom do you dig it?
how dope would it be if Danny Brown did a track with Aphex Twin now that they're both on Warp. That shit would sound crazy AF.
That would be too much for a human brain to handle
The beat samples a Delia Derbyshire tune which was published on Aphex Twin's label Rephlex! The track is "Pot Au Feu".
@@gnomebob wow, great ears!
@@gnomebob I knew about the original before I heard this Danny brown track. The original sounds better, also it means pot in the fire in French. She also made the Dr. Who theme. Delia’s work was a lot of tape slicing and spices. Hours of cuts and slices to sync her experimental music… like days of it. She would record all the samples and dub them and re-tape em’ just to get a certain organic sound out of the sample. It’s pretty interesting how she constructed music.
I used to listen to Nurse With Wound when I was a teenager, before I came across any of this. Which is another experimental collective. Same with SPK.
I heard Aphex twin or Richard D James is very anti social. I’d imagine it would take a certain level of creativity to work with him… Ask Trent Reznor. They did some work together at one point. Reznor does a lot of experimental stuff for the most part… pretty much everything after Pretty Hate Machine was all layers of experimental work with Coil. Especially Broken and The Downward Spiral. Reznor himself is probably a spiral of pain and terror id imagine.
🤷♂️
William Montgomery would love that!
It's like the dude from Cypress Hill rapping over the soundtrack from Hotline Miami
I dont get that reference but it sounds impressive.

I think Danny Brown is sorely, sorely underrated. He is one of the best rappers out skill wise and I can't think of another rapper who is as unique and far out as he is. He's super versitile and changes things up but you always know it's him. I love how he is at a point where if he turned in some pop crap featuring Justin Bieber, he could be huge but instead, he sticks to his own musical vision. Danny Brown is the realness.
I completely agree. As far as being unique I think young thug is probably the only one that comes close
Yung Thug is shit lol
I understand where you coming from by saying Young Thug is unique, however, he is still a star in the pop sense of the word. Danny Brown is too unique and real to go the pop route at all. I would say he is in league with Ol' Dirty Bastard in uniqueness. I'm not saying that Danny Brown is at all like ODB, just that they are both always authentically themselves.
+Alex Sutherland your opinion is 1/10 and you a bitch on top of that
+Allan Davis yeah young thug is more pop and melodic and Danny is more dirty and gritty. Still love both tho
Why hasn't Danny Brown x Run the Jewels happened yet?
this does sound like some rtj actually, they need to come out with more stuff
his verse is filthy on it, he's such a great fit on el-p beats
Look up the last huzzah, he and el-p cyph on it
El-P's verse on the last huzzah remix is one of the greatest verses ever. "El'll vent on you harder than Fukushima Breezes."
lewchootrain His feature in RTJ3 almost melted my ears off, it's seriously that good

fucking right bro
I heard this, thinking the beat and flow had a grime feel to it. Then I read that UK producer Paul White produced it. And Danny Brown is a fan of UK grime. Dots connected.
Def has some grime to it but it strikes equally as much as a ghetto tech type beat which is pretty much a style exclusive to Detroit
Paul White also produced an entire album this year for Open Mike Eagle. AOTY
Listen to bruiser brigade by him, it's a straight up grime song. Or just all of XXX, it has grime influence but its just an amazing album
+sebastian gomez I hadn't heard grime when I first listened to XXX, but now that I think about it, a lot of the tracks on there do have a grime influence.
this is true. Danny and the bruiser brigade opened up for them at st. Andrews in detroit. ratking got into a accident or some shit and couldn't make it to the show... so danny & the crew stepped up
I can't remember the last time I danced in front of the mirror but when I get this shit home it is on a crackin.
It's cause Danny originally did ghetto tech lol
Detroits dance music, it's all they play at party's, it's super hype
Know of other artists with a similar sound that I should check out? Not like Danny Brown specifically but music with that general style and tempo.
ANYTHING from the teklife label out of chicago and ZELOOPERS but yeah alot of [JUKE/FOOTWORK]

Best Album of 2011
Nothing else is really like it.
I feel like Danny Brown signing to Warp is a great fit.
He had to. There's no way fool's gold would put this 🔥 out.
i think fools gold would put this out but im gald he signed to warp because he fits better there and they are going to push his music way more
I think he built up a bigger fan base in Europe before America so it makes sense for him to sign to an English label. I agree Fools Gold probably would have released this probably not as a single though. Warp has a great legacy and that is probably and indication of the path Danny Brown's music has gone and will go.
its odd but when you really think about it Danny's music will probably be bigger in Europe than America so yeah i totally agree.
+Andy Sutherland oh hell yeah i could totally see europeans digging this shit.
Could you imagine presenting this instrumental or the Ain't It Funny beat to other rappers and seeing if they could make something as amazing as this? Danny had the guts to rap over such strange and and experimental beats and the talent to surpass them and outshine them in every possible way. So glad I was born in time to experience this incredible album on release. Danny Brown is an utter visionary.
You should listen to brockhamptons new song Boogie
TheFerventPsycho I actually love Brockhampton and did listen to that song. They're some of the more experimental artists out there and they haven't put out a song I've disliked. Boogie 100% follows that trend. I'm hoping Saturation III is full of tracks like Boogie, Bump, Heat, and Junky. Out of all the fantastic albums this year Saturation are the only ones that have reached the same level of love I have for Atrocity Exhibition.
Still one of the hardest songs I’ll ever hear in my whole entire life, its so crazy to have a song like this that really does get better with each listen. Legit every time for me
wish i could go back to the first time i heard the "how do i know that" part

Beyond the crazy intrumental, this song is so lyrically interesting, dark and sad. Strong sense of hopelessness
There's such a potent nervous energy to the song. It could be renamed to "Anxiety Attack: The Song."

Right there with you dude. Fucking love Danny
I'll be 40 soon enough. Copped my first album at Age 5 (Thanks, Mom, for the K-Tel rap compilation!). Been a fan of so many genres. Can remember blackout freestyles in my teens, destroying living rooms during the screamo heyday of the late 90s. Seriously studying Merzbow, Aphex Twin worship, doing AP calculus to Squarepusher, feeling my whole body freeze when I first heard Wrong Side of the Tracks, (literally) getting a neck sprain listening to Daily Operation. Drunken singalongs with Oi! bands just as much as "together forever" anthems with the NYHC stalwarts.
So many memories and defining moments. I say all if this to say that Danny Brown gives me that same feel of passion and intensity.
His art isn't just appreciated, it is needed. Thanks to the man for his work.

haha much love! life is pointless for most that dont realize its pointlessness.for those of us who can appreciate pain over nothing, keep appreciating that--because of pain we can envision the opposite and take moves towards it FOR OTHERS. dont strive for comfort for yourself, youll get addicted and deny your strength, and fall into the comfort of weakness and hiding. we can experience the way in fighting evil for those who dont know they are supposed to fight evil. be strong, be scared, and be willing to never feel pleasure. that way when the odds fall on you, you can love life without guilt--life is at least 50/50 those are pretty good odds in my book.
