A lot of people are upset about the thumbnail, rightfully so, I am too. As of January of this year, I've been unable to select or change thumbnails on shorts and YT just choses them for me based on a random frame from the video. 90% of the time this doesn't matter, however 10% of the time, the chosen thumbnail contradicts what I say in the video, as is the case here. I'm really sorry about that and I'll keep searching for a solution to it.
Man I was writing 5 paragraphs ... You got me
BS
RUclips makes questionable decisions
Yeah aight
A little suspect that of all the random thumbnails it could have picked, it picked the misleading one. I guess it’s on me for even clicking because I should have known it would be just one more of the thousands of speculation videos that will come out until the game is released.
Nahhh my switch is gonna start begging me to get rid of it when if even dare look at this game when it releases😭💀
Luckily my switch can Play the witcher 3 😎
@@ms.pirateLuckily my switch can play Calculator 😎
I just recently got my switch OLED neon red and blue last year. I'm fine 😂

This aged well.
Yeah, it's just as big, but more terrifying.
Yeah not too well imo. I had a lot of hope from this interpretation that there would be a massive amount of sky islands, but actually there was more underground than he had anticipated.
That’s not to say I’m disappointed in the game by any means, it just was my own sorta hype or judgement that let me down. Do still wish there was more in the sky though, and that it wasn’t all peppered around the map but 🤷🏻♂️ not bad
More like 200%
Like milk i would say
@@yicklemypickle8716agreed. I thought there could be more but oh well
Watching this after totk released. Definitely the same size in the underground. Also terrifying.
im playing on an oled tv and it is they scariest thing Ive played, especially when the music gets extremely ominous and "they" come. I dont wanna spoil it unless youve already been traumatized
Don't forget the ocean, there's beautiful coral reefs that I can't believe they hid in the first game and the only way to see them is by breaking the game a little on under a dock, but it's beautiful potential that I know in my soul shouldn't go to waste!
Fr? Didn't know that and I love Zelda.
I have never heard of the coral reefs, I’ve seen the glitch you’re talking about and all the RUclipsrs that have done it have never reported more than just rock with minimal textures. Unless you have proof this seems false.
Seen it on my own game, it really is nice
you can see them from over the water
@Moonlight Crystal yeah you can, but the dock glitch gets you underwater to see, and it's super detailed. Is it a waste for us not to see it be unearthed? I can only hope it's in the second game
Man after having the game and seeing the underground its alot bigger than expected
Ikr its a 1:1 in size
The depths are 100% the size of the normal map!
My expectations are high AF for this game, but 30%-40% of the overworld? That seems ridiculously large. It's probably a few decent sized caves scattered across the map
Yeah I think you're right. About a week after I finished this video I thought to myself "yeah 30-40 is pretty high" lol. That said I don't think it's *impossible* but if I were to make this video again, I think the actual percent is closer to something like 20-30
@@mhswoocer I think that’s the least they could do for a 6 year development time and a game which reuses the last ones overworld
I think 20% is pushing it and the sky Islands maybe 10% tops.
@@mhswoocer I'm leaning to more 10-15%
I can tell you… it’s gonna be even more than that I’m 100% sure by now
I love how it turned out to be the full map🫠
"30-40% of the original map". Boi, that didn't aged well. The underground is just as big as the overworld.
I am from the future and I can confirm that it's big
This aged like milk
Dudes over here after release shook about how both are 100% the size of the overworld
that’s like saying villages take up 100% of the game map because they exist within the game map. The sky islands are maybe 5% of the over world’s size, but that’s okay, they don’t need to be massive
And now that the game's out... the underground's is as large as the overworld... oh boy how much we were wrong...
I'm hoping that you can go underwater and maybe get an item that lets you breathe underwater
Give us the Iron Boots back, right? (Oot)
legend of zelda breathe underwater
@@Les_Bane_Bea No, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Water
@@djtempest0 not just oot, but tp too. I don't remember any others tho
@@NovaIsTheBot Yeah, didn't really play that one, my bad.
The wild speculation and rounding here is breathtaking.
having played through the game now, i can say with confidence the map is more than doubled in size, the amount of content is insane
Well, just look at Skyrim. There are plenty of hidden underground areas in that game that range from a small grove to an absolutely massive mini underground kingdom. I think we'll see something similar in TotK. In fact, I think those little pockets of malice we see in the skydiving clips may actually be entrances to underground areas. They also went to the trouble of adding an altimeter to the minimap to show how high ... or how low Link is. I'd imagine a few cave systems are going to go quite a few hundred feet down.
how right u were!!!
100% right
"but it doesn't have 2B"
Lmao
Personally love that Nintendo is keeping it so secretive. They showed off A LOT of BOTW and ruined some of the games mystery. I truly have NO idea where this game will go.
I don't mind keeping things secret but there has been plenty of games that had way more to show without spoiling the game I think it's way too secretive to raise concern
The implications of this are insane, I just kind of hope that BASICALLY, the ground level is completely overhauled in every single way except the map layout itself. Giving you a map where you know where you're going yet you're curious about all the places you've been before ANDDDD you have the over and underworld? That's going to be insane and I can't wait
It is as big as the map lmao
dude was so wrong lol
I really hope the Yiga clan hole has a purpose in Tears of the Kingdom!
Watch the trailer 🙃
Its so surprising to see the underground the same size as the over world
I discovered the under ground by total hazard.
F*k I'm so lost in this hame, and it feels good.
Maybe they will pull an Eldon Ring design
I think the devs would be crazy to not have at least taken notes from Elden Ring. Although, it did come out pretty late in TOTK's development, so their might not have been time.
@@mhswoocerthey did take insparation from red dead redemption 2
What does that mean?
What did elden ring design?
@Dude think he means the underground areas in that. Literally the same as what we see in the trailer
So exited!!! Coming out in like a week!!!!
But can't wait anymore, I want it now.
I’m watching this after totk came out and the depths are like a second map
little did he know...
They're probably using the map space that the trial of the sword dlc used. Because if you clip out of one of the rooms, you'll see that there is a ton of empty/unused space between each section of the map.
underground is the full map
What I’m hopping the most is a sort of back track to the Skyward sword making the master sword stronger but now it’s repairing it but also improving it..
For one if you look at the tapestry talking about Calimity Ganon it shows him using the sword but the blade is blue AND green. So maybe there are old shrines down there that you have to find and we hear fi again
DOUBLE THE SIZE!
It took me so long to travel from great plateau and dueling peaks alone but hey at least more world expansion
“Won’t be as big as the original map”
The depths: turn out to literally be the exact same size
IT FINALY DROPPED ÖFTER 4 YEARS
I’m so freaking excited about this game, and it’s wonderful that it comes out the day after my birthday
*There’s this spot when you’re leaving through the back mountains of Kakariko where I always thought it was off for something like that to be there. It looks like a door that opens into something but for now it’s a place for getting out of the rain. For the longest, if I come in from Lanayru, I just park Link there for a while because I feel like it’ll open one day… maybe it’s an entrance to one of many Underground Areas spread throughout Hyrule…*
"The map will just be double the size."
*The game ends up triple the size.*
that fuse ability is honestly such a clever fun way of introducing crafting
“Nearly twice as big” LOL.
This thing is YUUUUGE
I doubt the sky islands will take up 30% of the map
And yet the early reviews are now saying the underground is basically the same size as the overworld but with less stuff to do because it's a slower burn area
Like... Holy shit Nintendo, how do you keep doing this new amazing stuff with Zelda but Pokemon has been basically the same for decades?
The underground is about bigger than the ground
It's actually reflective of the Surface Map all light roots match up to the shrines in the Surface, subverted Expectations
I hope they give you a better starting stamina bar in this game.
Nope it is the same as the first game.
Op: This is big news for botw2
Me: cool, so promo material leaked something connected to the past games etc.
Op: *Info we could have gleaned from the trailer last year*
A game I just got off Kickstarter, Song of Swords, takes ideas similar to this video seriously. Its setting, the Tattered Realms, resembles the Renaissance and early modern period culturally and technologically too. Black powder exists, for example. It’s lower fantasy than dungeons and dragons so it makes sense that there would a technology difference. Lower magic -> higher tech.
We all had the Great Plateau, and we thought it was enormous, we don't need the underground/sky to be as big as the overworld
I CANT WAIT GIVE IT TO ME NOW
“It’s safe so say that the underground won’t be as big as the original map” is the underestimation of the decade
It's honestly funny how wrong that statement was LMAO
Pre ordered it, I am ready
When you play the game when it comes out and the underground is 90% as big as the surface...
Hoping there are some twilight princess themes to the game
lets hope
Y’all want bigger maps, I just want smooth gameplay. Not thrilled about 30fps but I’m sure I’ll give it a try
All single player games are in 30fps on switch only multiplayer games get 60fps
Everyone: talking about how good the game is gonna be
Me: *OMG THE ✨PARAGLIDER MINI GAME MUSIC✨ IN THE BACKGROUND*
I feel like for reasons like this (plus inflation) it totally makes sense why they're charging $70.
they may even need to use game cartridges with more storage than your typical size.
Definitely cartridges with bigger storage sizes since it will be the biggest first party game yet on switch file size wise.
TOTK - 18.2 gigabytes
BOTW - 14.4 gigabytes
I wonder what they will do to replace shrines
If the sky islands were 30-40% of the rest of the map, the sky would be blackened. It would effectively make the regular world into a bit of an underworld
Quins first question- where's the koroks 😂😂😂😂
I am doing zelda marathon till TOTK comes out. Currently finishing beating people in age of calamity, then I will play skyward sword, majora's mask and finish link's awakening before moving on to some other smaller games. I know for a fact I won't be playing anything else for at least the first 100 hours of TOTK
Underground+Hyrule+Sky=MUCH more world. Definitely gonna be looking at a bigger SD card. Got a 128 gig one in it now and I don't have enough space for what I have as it is
Also the sky world can easily be dropped from, while the belowground can easily be ascended from
Underground you say? That’s funny considering I can see the stars in that footage
Totk player here and actually : yes, it is about as big as the new map and it's honestly really expansive with new content enemy variants and its equivalent to towers so no need to worry
I think the caves might actually be part of the sky islands, since Anouma mentions caves in the islands
Honestly idk if im gonna get it, but if there is underwater exploration i probably will.
All I want is a next gen version of this game when the next console gets released
Size =/= content. The great plateau is small in terms of area but has just as much content as the other regions in the game, mainly in part because most of the other regions let you use horses or other forms of transportation. The sky islands and underground don't have to be big because, as far as we know, you don't have horses or loftwings for transportation in those areas. It's only after you make vehicles that you can more easily traverse these areas, in the same way upgrading your stamina let you explore BotW more easily.
The Great Plataeu was one of the best parts of BotW and TotK is an entire games worth of Great Plataeus separated from eachother by a recontextualized overworld.
This actually a great take ngl
$70 Game + $30 new MicroSD Card + $20 Potential future DLC...this is a lot for just one game. I'm just sayin', it better be worth the 6 year wait.
Pirate it 😭
The prospect of dlc in this game is so dumb tbh. The game is already $10 more than other switch games and reuses a lot of assets from the original. Yeah, it better be good

@@r1ftzy PIRACY IS ILLEGAL!👺👺👺
I can't believe people complaining about the price of this game. Going to the movies for yet another 2 hour sub-par superhero film is like $15 now.
This game will give you hundreds of hours of gameplay and enjoyment. And, it is probably going to be one of the best games of this decade.
So was you surprised that it’s almost 100%
Considering I thought I guessed *too* high here, yeah I was shocked LMAO
Hey man, WindWaker was a substantially smaller game than this, yet it was a huge success. This arrangement for ToK could be good.
I hope we get some sort of underwater ocean exploration
Seems reasonable.
If they took out shrine and the data with it to utilize space for cave map.
But this is kind of what im worried about. For me the sky islands barely look like 20% of the botw map tbh which generously assuming the caves are like 30% as big as the overworld makes the game 1.7 times as big as the original. But i personally know the ins and outs of the original map so well that i really doubt its gonna be comparable at all to the last time i explored the overworld let alone the first time. Just because the new shrines, the green spiral thingeys will be at slightly different positions doesnt change the fact that with the same topography they will not be very intersting to find. So the overworld wont really be new and fun to explore. This would mean that instead of getting a bigger game, a 1.7 times as big of a game. Its gonna be smaller with id say a hopeful guess of 0.7 of the original botw map. But im still hopeful that they are hiding some very big surprises from us and the map is gonna get some big overhauls that we havent seen in the trailer.
This aged well
@@arufabeta lol
Bro the underground the whole map bruh 😭
Under whater gameplay would be sick
It could be its a tunnel, such as the Gorko Tunnel shrine quest.
the original overworld will be different as well so it'll hopefully be worth re-exploring
I guess I figured out the story will basically be collecting all the nine tiers. The last one will be Gannon tear and then finally using it to defeat demise.
The underground might just be inside of death mountain
Im gonna assume that there are multiple underground areas. Thoughnit coild be one large area with multiple openings
Taking into account the underground, sky islands and caves/wells this game is way over twice as big, could be closer to 2.5 times the size of botw.
I haven't played breath of the wild in like 5 years so exploring the overworld will be like I never saw it before
This time collect 2000 korok seeds
In the new areas of the map, you’ll find the…tears of the kingdom
I'll come back to this later
Hope there’s items that let you see in the caves
Why is no one talking about the fact that the scene rune was activated under the water in the 10 min game play video
Imma 37 when this game come out my birthday is April 26😭
Yo bro 1 more day left
So we got:
Caves
The ocean
Surface+
The sky
New death mountain dungeons New desert
And more
Reserved a copy today, hyped for Friday
I really do hope so I'm so pumped can't wait for it to come out already pre order my hard copy so excited
The depths are exactly the same size as the ground map, and you also have a healthy amount of content in the sky. The game is far larger now.
This game is gonna be insane!
I’m also thinking what happend to the divine beast and if they will have somting like it bc it was my favorite part going inside them and doing the puzzles
Just saw a review saying the underground is a big a the entire map
As someone whos been playing it. Its even bigger lol. And thats not even counting all the other stuff.
Can’t wait to go to siofra river
The map is 3 times as big as the original 😮🎉🎉
