This is neat! Is there however a way to transform the locale of a Japanese 3DS to English? I would region change to USA, but it breaks the eShop. So i was hoping if maybe there was some kind of translation for the System Menu, System Settings, etc, at least the basics stuff since I know going to the eShop some stuff is forced in Japanese anyway.

That's dope. It's a shame that the games' title and thumb in the 3DS Menu is unchanged - for instance, if you have games that were released worldwide, but have different thumbs, like Hyrule Warriors and Smash Bros, both title and thumb are unchanged (JP games will have their respective US titles and thumbs in a US console).

This is great. I have a second japanese 3ds that i didn't want to do the whole region hack that I did with the other one. This def solves that problem to some degree. Hopefully the language changes in ds games running from twilightmenu
@@prismanax Sorry kind of late reply. It does work! But now that the eshop is closing I prefer just hard region changing the console so the interface appears in the desired language. With this videos method the logos and 3ds ui were still in japanese but once you got into the game everything was in english. With a hard region change everything appears in english the only limitation being you can't update games from the eshop so you have to download the update cia files elsewhere (they are easy to find though).

I made the mistake of buying ten of these from japan because they were so cheap and thinking I could MOD them but found out it was too hard to follow the instructions since it's in Japanese do you know of any videos that solve this problem? or am I now a proud owner of ten paperweights.
@@sthetixofficial Yes cfw and god 9 I think it is called I have modded my American 3ds so I thought it would be easy to do the Japanese model also but found it was too hard to follow because most videos half the time show you what button to push than the other half of it talks you thru it and when that happens I can't follow because my menu is in Japanese.

Hey Sthetix great video! I’ve been using this Luma locale switcher for a long while since originally watching your video. However, was wondering was there any update to this app or a new app has come onto the scene where it automatically sets the region instead of manually doing each game?
@sthetix I booted Luma3DS and enabled game patching on two different devices. When I pressed to start to save and reboot the screens started to flicker on both consoles (top screen on one, bottom on the other). Each of the screens flickering were both IPS displays. When I turn off game patching the screens stop flickering. Have you seen this before? Any ideas on why that setting is causing the issue?

You should do one on luma locale region auto setter I had trouble setting this up it’s used for dlcs I think it would really help others into home brew/cfw
hey sthetix so i have 3DS AUS region console. So that means I have to install EUR region games. But I usually download USA region games because they’re smaller in size and also have no censorship compared to EUR region. Usually I download via hshop cos its automatically sets region. But sometimes I want to install a USA region 2GB game via FBI from my mac instead of hshop as its too slow. So in this case should my LumaLocaleSwitcher for that 2GB USA game be set to "EUR" and "ENG" or "USA" and "ENG" if I have a pal region AUS console?
lumalocaleswitcher is usually used for those who wants to change the game language from Japan to English. It is not useful if you want to change from english to english again.

I have a new 3ds LL and also a USA Old 2ds That I was playing majoras mask 3d with and I am pretty far in But I wanna play it on my new 3ds which is home-brewed using your vids (thanks btw awesome tutorials) but I’m concerned if I do this will I lose my save data on my majoras mask cart? Also reason I’m doing this is for some reason majoras mask shows a error everytime I try and start it up. But my US Ocarina of time works flawlessly. UPDATE: I tried it anyway and changed the region and language to USA and English even though it is a USA game cartridge. And it worked! Thanks so much man now I can finally play it on a bigger screen. Also I still have all my save data
This probably works with downloads only , right? Was trying to change the language from monster hunter x (the game card version) to EN, but it didn’t work.
@@MokkaX03 I found a workaround just now. You can make a backup file of the ds game (and your save file) with godmode and then launch it as a rom with twilight menu ++. But first you need to change the language on the nds bootstrap settings page and there you go
