Bro. Great videos. Keep up the work. Teacher question: your comment about the shoulder, I agree with. I am starting to talk about it as "dimensionalizing" the hooks but I tend to have to help people way break the elements down before they can feel biomechanically correct. Do you find value in isolating elements of the punch on their own, then examining the movement as a whole again "under pressure"?

In a punch, kinetic chain sequence dictates that hip rotation is done with the legs and shoulder rotation is done with the core. This means shoulder rotation, done with obliques, is an important link in the sequence for increasing force.

I recently joined a muay thai/ BJJ gym under Blake Grice but i was wondering, i have prior experience in martial arts but only minor experience so in my class, there is a huge skill gap between me and fighters that have been there for 5 + years and they also compete in live fights. The owner encourages all of his fighters to compete but only if they want to and i am one of the guys that is interested to do that, i am 19 years old and i was wondering how i could learn better while sparring with these more advanced guys?

In my experience (which isn't very exhaustive) the arm/shoulder movement comes after the fist comes into contact with the target. This way you get a snap into the punch. This is similar to the straight punch in karate or JKD (though the technical execution of the punch in the two system are different). Would love feedback and comments and criticism (hopefully constructive!). Happy training

Shane, I have some questions that might be good to answer in a video:
    1. Can you explain to us how fighters are compensated when a fight gets cancelled? Like Mighty Mouse was supposed to fight in the last PPV and the fight got cancelled because his opponents wasn't able to get medically cleared. DJ prepped, went through an entire camp, paid all of his trainers, partners, nutritionists, etc and then wasn't able to compete for a payday, through no fault of his own. Does he still get paid? It would seem criminal not to compensate the fighter who did nothing wrong, but couldn't have the fight he for which he trained.
    2. How do some fighters like to prepare/recover after weigh ins? Do they try to eat and drink to recover and rest up? Do they continue to train and spar? I would assume they'd just recover and should be as prepared as possible by that point.
