I put all of my j cups on the inside of my uprights to avoid my barbell collars hitting my j cups. It doesn't look as good, but I find it works better. Great review as always. On a side note my oak club mag pins work with my Irwin rollers, but just a little too long to magnet onto the upright. Maybe the bare steel mag pins R the perfect size to magnet onto the uprights with the Irwin rollers.
But that doesn’t explain why the Irwin’s don’t move at all on the same rack? Both made for 3x3 racks. I know each set will fit different so maybe I got unlucky.🥲
Well you taught me something new. I have two pairs of 5/8 Irwin's for my Rogue rack and never noticed the additional hole on the backside. Based on the Irwin's weight and the tight tolerances I don't get much swing anyways, but definitely a welcomed feature that I wish more manufacturers would consider standard
Great videos been watching your stuff and your a true and honest no BS guy. I'm also trying to remove the Roller I was was recommended by Rouge to use a 5/16 Allen key. 5/16 is a bit to small and its the biggest one i have. What size did you use? If you can help me I appreciate it. I have the GHOST ROLLER J-CUP 2.0 - 5/8" PIN
Hey Danny appreciate the support. Good question. I don't remember it being anything special. Do you have a Metric set? It might be a metric size. It might be a bit before I'm able to check mine for you. (duty calls) Follow up with me if you don't get it. Never use the "round head" key in anything always the squared off end.
@@MacStrengthCo sorry man I forgot to message you back last night I was very tired. My boss let me borrow a set and it is the 3/8. Thanks man I appreciate it. Keep up the good work on you videos and life.
I think you are correct. I've had my Irwin rollers for three months, and I haven't noticed that collar rubbing issue, so I think it's been addressed by Garth.
Yes I've shown Garth the issue. It was only on one of my J-cups and VERY close but it would only rub some of the time You can see the mark is very small after 10 months of training so really not a big deal.
@@MacStrengthCo I also had the original Ghost rollers (on a Rogue rack), and I found that gap ridiculous (and certainly less on the true 3x3). I just could not get over it. Another thing worth mentioning about the Irwins related to the pin hole. As you noted, the pin is not really necessary; however, I found the allowable depth for the pin to stick through the bottom of the cup support doesn't allow for either Bare Steel or Oak Club magpins. Just something to note for anyone potentially planning to go all out bougie.
@@michaelradloff2318 solid info and I your right the hole is really meant for a quick release pin. Just a cool feature many don’t know about or use. The ghost gap is never brought up in reviews but it’s pretty big!😂. Cheers 🤙🏼
Very exhaustive as always. Thanks. Now I wants Irwin roller jcups... I'm still torn between snapback rollers and those... But our Canadian monkey money is so bad right now that the Irwin makes more sense right now... As funny as it sound, I don't think I need it, I rarely move my bar once I lift. I think having a home gym made me work on my walk out... My rack is smaller now too with a 24" depth. But this will make my gym so shiny... Anyway, for the rear bolt security on the Irwin, you could get a smaller hitch pin like 3/4 or so and I think it would work. You can even make it magnetic by adding some small rare metal magnets. I did my own mag pins like this. It looks not that good because I was sloppy and my wife was calling me to come take care of the kids... But that's another story! I DIY a dip attachment (out of metal) and I was a bit sloppy (again, I'm not always sloppy btw... ;)) at the hole placement and I ended using a 3/4 hitch pin to cover my errors and it works perfectly (that a bit of gorilla tape and UHMW plastic).
The Canadian Peso is dropping fast up there. Irwin is for sure the way go to based on that alone. Good info on the pin ideas. Always tinkering in our home gyms is the common thread between all of us. cheers buddy!
I have the original ghost j cups and I think aesthetically the ghosts look better than the Irwin's. Irwin j cups look incredible strong btw not bad. add the felt tape to make it snug fit on rack.
I thought your Irwin roller J cups were black and you painted them red. I had a 5/8” version on a Rogue Monster Lite rack and it was very snug. No need for the pin. I now have a 1” version on order due to selling my Rogue rack and buying a Rep Fitness PR 5000 and Ares. I should be getting the roller J cups pretty soon.
They were originally gun metal gray! I posted the picture of them right at the end of the part 2 review! Irwin's fit really good and I'm very happy with them.
Nice review question that's a nice black rogue, Ohio Powerbar What finish is on that cerakote or black zinc reason asking? Is because I bought a Rogue powerbar and it came in looking Charcoal gray had to return it And it was scratched.
The black rogue power bar is in cerakote. I absolutely love the finish and grip on it. most of my bars are bare steel but lately ive been digging cerakote bars..
The measurement of the inner j-cup was missed. From the back plate to the front plate (with the roller in between) what is the distance? Most J-Cups are complete trash for benching due to them sticking out too far.
If u were to swap out the ghost roller wit Irwin rollers will there be enough clearance or will the bar scrape on the metal piece thats on the side, since it’s slants?
Hi Question I have the rep CAMBERED SWISS BAR Was thinking about Irwin fitness roller J-CUPS , but was concerned about The swiss bar may roll off of The lip If place back to fast with a heavy load Being that it's two inches thick.different than regular barbell Versus the titan roller Jcups seem to have a more secure lip Do you think the irwin jacobs will secure the rep CAMBERED SWISS BAR. Safely with the flat rollers thanks
Honestly either the Ghost or the Irwin roller j cups should work fine. I would avoid the Titan ones at all costs for being so light duty and flimsy. Mine came cross threaded and the replacements were all cross threaded. I don't think you'll have an issue with the bar bounding off forward.
I'm thinking about getting the Rogue Ghost Strong J-Cups but wanted the shoulder bolts. Do you know what size shoulder bolts I would need to get? Thinking of trying to find them online somewhere so I don't have to spend an extra $100. Thanks
Rogue makes some beautiful stuff but they be on some bullshit sometimes. Like their boneyard collars. They charge like $25 to ship them. You can buy the 1st run collars and shipping isn like 8 bucks for the exact same collars. It came out to a 4 dollar difference from the bone yard to 1st run stuff so why would I buy something from a boneyard they dont guarantee over 4 bucks. I think I will stick with all my REP Stuff. I don't think my muscles can tell Rep from Rogue
Rogue's got some great products but I've been burned on the boneyard collars also. They broke after using them maybe 3 times! I had them replaced no questions asked which was cool. Their customer support has been really good.
The website says the stainless roller is $70 to upgrade. The bolt is $100 included in the "premium" package but that's for the 1" version so I could be wrong. cheers!
@@MacStrengthCo I really like the comparison. Although ghost seems a no brainer for racks like rogue , and sorinex.. don’t be surprised if Irwin might disrupt the market
I usually don't leave comments but I thought you did a really good job in covering all the granular details about the Ghost Roller J-cups.

That's a good idea. My REP rack spacing wouldn't let me put the pin in but it's a great feature not very well known.
Those Irwin rollers next to the Titan rollers is absolutely comical! Geez what monsters.
It’s just not fair.
Super thorough man
Thanks B, got way too technical on this one. ha ha. cheers buddy.

You bet! Thanks for making awesome equipment. Eh!
Good work as always on this channel.
Much appreciated!
My ghost roller jcups fit snug on my rogue rack. It does not move at all. It's probably because you have the rep upright which is 2.95x2.95
Good info thanks! I knew the 1mm smaller REP rack wasn’t helping but good info for anyone with a imported rack. Cheers!

Not off hand but they are a different dia so not interchangeable unfortunately
