    Thank you for your dedication to our history and the truth of farming. How can we get connected with more information and exposure. How can we contribute? How can we be taught to start to farm?

    Yes! Black women farming. I love it! Definitely a dream of mine to own land, grow veggies, and help fight the food deserts in DC. I'll be following her journey as she inspires mine 🙌🏽

    Such meaningful work! And how AWEsome she is!!! Thanks for acknowledging and reminding some of us that farming is a part of the Black experience. So important to "reclaim the dignity" of it.

    Why does it have to be "black farming" 🤔

  • @TracyR4
    @TracyR4 4 года назад +2

    Look it takes people to get involved. It's not segregation, it's a community of people who decided to rely on government programs and they lost their interest in farming. That's what it is. It's not whitey's fault. If they want a farm they can get a farm by working hard and getting it like everyone else. It's not just handed to you. There are black farmers and homesteaders out there. You just have to want to do it and go get it. I'm glad she's doing something positive and isn't out rioting but I do not agree with her views.

      Did you not LISTEN? The REASON why there was a massive drop in black farmers and people connected to the land was due to systemic racism. Do you think black farmers got subsidies from the government? Systemic racism knocked out potential for upward movement for generations of black families. You think all of a sudden, after slavery was over, black people had every opportunity to live normal lives? Go read a book. Please.

      Go read the history of the Dept of Agriculture's unwillingness to give loans to black farmers--unlike white farmers who got their "welfare" as people like you call it. When you cannot access $ to buy seed or equipment you cannot harvest crops. eventually you lose your land. If you read this far, then there's hope.

      "just go get it" belies an existing reality. "its not whitey's fault" deals lill with the historic reality as well. I appreciate what LP adds to the more holistic equation of the real world. That is the 1/2 dealing w/ppl: knowledge, skills and attitudes. I; as an elderly, male, poor, northern european, with learning and health disabilities laude her'n their efforts. Wishin land was provided thru reparations. A major piece will 1st, have to deal w/dialogue. deliberation - again, ppl. She is adding a full measure w/the work being done @ SFF.

      U state this in the past tense Lisa. We (Black & White, Red, Brown or Yellow) are socialized invisibly. Tough to see/understand (systemic AND individual) like the mirror looking at itself. At any rate, it is still going on today (is my point).
