Love the color changing fabric. I think it brought what you intended to the dress. Love the pun. My father’s name was Merlin but it was spelled Merlyn. The number of times he was called Marilyn was ridiculous. So this really brought a smile to my face.
Oo la la! Those spicy Merlin come hither looks!!! Actually, you do an INCREDIBLE Marilyn! And, contrary to one of your final comments, I found the humor in this highly nutritious - this is what our world needs right now!

Also you have inspired me to use parts of patterns in different ways or make multiple patterns work together. I didn't learn that in classes...I learned that from You and Your Videos....so thank you.

I made this pattern years ago in a red silk chiffon and silk lining to go to the opera at the Met. The gathering is definitely easier with very lightweight fabric.
This one would have benefitted from angling the sides of the panels. Little less fabric to put in the gathers. I assume that's what went wrong g with the yabbo hammock parts too. Just too thick to gather into the space.
oh boy... I KNOW this fabric personally xD It's not easy to gather, or make it lay nicely when gathered. It's so springey. I used this in my Northern Lights costume, and for my bodice I ended up having to pin the folds I wanted in place and do some handstitches in various spots to keep them in place. I had a fitted lining that I draped the fabric onto and could stitch it in place how I wanted it to lay. It is a gorgeous fabric though! Was worth the extra efforts to make it do what I wanted. Well done on your Merlin Monroe!!
I'm not trying to be an "Um Actually" here, just offering a pointer ... When you're doing the 'pen on a string' circle thing, the string needs to be as close to the tip of the pen as possible. Having it on the "butt" end means it wobbles and the line is squiggly :-)
This is amazing. I made my partner sit and watch the reveal with me. Also, that's the pattern that I used for a dress for my 30'th birthday party dress. Loved it!. Vogue patterns are NOTORIOUSLY so much smaller size wise than others. Used a different one for my wedding dress and had to INCREASE the pattern 4 sizes to get it to fit.
Not sure if anyone in the comments already recommended this, but pinking shears are your friend when dealing with fray-crazy fabric. They cut in a zig-zag and makes it harder for the weave to unravel.
Came to the comments to see if anyone had recommended pinking shears yet. I remember playing with my mom's as a kid, to her dismay. It was one of many lectures I received about not using the good scissors 😅

If you are ever in the mood to torture yourself with that fabric again, a small tip. A heated craftknife - aka a woodburner with an exacto blade tip does wonders for cutting it out and sealing your cut lines in one move by fusing that edge. I usually work over sacrificial cardboard with it because it will melt my cutting mat, occasionally I'll do a silicone mat but those can be cut by the blade itself and I don't like damaging them in that way. I do keep a silicone mat nearby so I can set the tool down safely while it's hot.
That does sound safer than my approach, which is to light a candle and then slowly pass the cut edge through the heat column to melt the cut edges so they fuse. It's not super precise, but it does feel satisfying 😅

Thank you, Rachel! This is exactly what I needed to lift my summertime blues! Nice to know I’m not the only one who isn’t heat resistant!
What an hilarious and adorable mash-up with Merlin Monroe! You gots the talents, gal!
Brilliant and spectacularly hilarious! I seriously needed this whimsy and humor today Rachel! Please never change or apologize for sharing your hilarious brain with us! ✨ I am also the current proud owner of weird sunburn lines, including the parting in my hair so I feel you. 😅
Ouch!! That sounds extremely painful while combing or washing hair 😭 Hope it heals up quick!
Best. Reveal. Ever! 🧙🏽♂️ Absolutely fabulous.
I've not used zips in roughly a decade, it's hooks and eyes (and to a lesser degree buttons and buttonholes) all the way for me.
This would be such a fun drag character concept
As a fellow floor troll, I am KEEN, to see what you've got coming!
Love the pun game. 100% on board with this very nutritious content. I'm always a big fan of your sewing videos.
