At diagonal spots, the Audi driver really tested the 4X4, he went slowly and just kept the accelerator on to see if the car could creap along, which he did. The Duster driver used momentum and in at least one case he went back a metre and just tried faster. In steep climbs the same happened, the lighter Duster used higher revs and speed showing off its angles and ground clearance whereas the Audi went slowly, testing its 4X4 system. When comparing off-road ability, the real challenge is not just tackling the same obstacles but how it's done. However, the overall performance of the two cars, not in this very limited test but after much broader research, is not very far apart. Hence, discounting factors such as prestige and considering pure value for money, it would be a hands down decision.
I drive the Duster Phase2 4x4 dci since six and a half years and she (Ronja) never has let me down! Excellent car in every situation.
At the end of the day the Duster is built with the idea of going tougher places so I find it no surprise that it found this so easy, we own a 2019 model and even though it's only the 2wd version we still manage things that most modern suv's wouldn't even attempt. Great car!
So do you believe that a 4×4 duster is worth it? Do you recommand it?
I think you'd be surprised at the capability of the 2wd version, however, if you are looking to get a bit further off the beaten track the 4×4 is definitely worth it for the added grip as well as the features such as Hill decent control to make it that bit more comfortable when seriously off roading, but as a run around that occasionally goes down a slightly tougher track any model would be more than sufficient.
@@sindbad142 which engine do.you have? Unfortunately in my country we only get the 1.6 snd 2.0 petrol renault dusters.
The duster costs one third of the price of the german, is twice better at off roading, much more discreet, lower insurance cost, lower maintenance cost, and a great reliability record ! Dacia are very very good daily vehicles.
Robert Bidochon .yes very Good Price - but at normal Road - no One, That can buy a Audi, would thake a Dacia... sorry - Dacia is arealy Good car and the Price is excellent - but If you sit in a Audi - everything is clear you can‘t Compare it

Nach dem Video bin ich von Dacia positiv überrascht. Der Dacia kann gut mit dem Audi mithalten. Der Preis ist auch super :) danke für den Test meine Entscheidung zum Duster Kauf ist gefallen !
Warum nur mithalten? Der Duster ist der eindeutig bessere Geländewagen.
Those comparisons are unequal. The Duster Driver hits the gas Pedal all the time meanwhile the Audi driver is just tipping on it. That's just one of my notes.

Agree with you men, audi drive slowly carefully with gas padel, he doesnt go back, slowly but always forward, but dacia drive hit gas to the floor, or go little back and try again with full gas

Sunt multe diferente intre aceste doua masini care pot fi discutate, clasa, sistem tractiune, greutate, distanta dintre axe, motorizare, cuplu....etc, dar totusi pana la urma "prăfuitul" se misca binișor...👍👍

Doua sisteme 4x4 total diferite. Duster are 4x4 "on demand" iar q5 are permanent. Problema pe care Duster o are este la diferențialul open spate, care lucrează normal, doar ca partea electronica " traction control" nu poate / nu este implementat sa mute torq-ul pe roata cu aderență. Adică sa blocheze ușor roată care pierde aderenta, astfel mutând cuplul pe roata opusa. Am observat ca pe puntea fata acest lucru funcționează.
chiar daca sunt diferite, la incrucisari ele arata un mod asemanator de a avansa. Daca pe Q5 era diferential Torsen, nu se mai comporta ca si Dusterul, mai ales incrucisare.
@@DusterCoolTravels la trecerea pe diagonala peste acea 'groapa', dacă Duster-ul nu făcea balans față-spate, nu cred ca reușea sa treacă. În rest, sistemul 4x4 de la Duster este ok. Păcat ca nu e permanent pe sosea.
@@DusterCoolTravels Din cate stiam, Haldex nu exista pe Q5, indiferent de motorizare. Toate au motor montat longitudinal si Torsen central. Q3-ul e Haldex.
La banii lui, Dusterul se tine tare. Nu ma intereseaza ce tehnologie foloseste atat timp cat te scoate din belea la un pret mult mai mic decat un Audi.
@@cernatcornel5628 ar trebui sa te intereseze, sistemul Torsen de pe Audi este net superior, diferenta e uriasa tehnic. Duster are doar un sistem rudimentar electronic de pe Qashqai dar in varianta mai ieftina, s-a renuntat la diferential spate si la asistentul de coborare in panta. Torsen e unul din cele mai bune sisteme din lume. Ca un film arata egalitate nu schimba realitatile...
here the duster is having lesser kerb weight , meanwhile q5 is reasonably heavier than duster , but 2 litre diesel also affected climbing , its 3 litre TDI engine will perform more , I am from India here the duster is the older version right now.
what are the vehicle weights? are they roughly the same? I think that is also quite important

Duster driver more competent than the Q5 Driver, doesn't revv the engine uselessly. But let's not forget Q5 heavier and w/ lower ground clearance than the Duster. All in all - as I already knew - Duster gets 5 out of 5 ! And it seems that over time it is quite reliable, too.
Fakten sind das der Dacia vom Preis Leistung verhältnis besser ist als der Audi Q 5 ABT...der Audi hat vielleicht mehr komfort aber sehe ihn eher als Schickimicki Fahrzeug zum Shoppen in die Stadt für Hausfrauen...nun ja...der Dacia kann mithalten im gelände und mehr muß er ja nicht...

@@fkev4751 don't get me wrong, I'm actually impressed about how well the q5 managed the terrain. The duster is kind of expected to pass through everything considering the price and the willingness of an owner to thrash it a bit more.
If you'd bring the Duster to the same price tag as the Q5 with offroad tuning parts, what would that look like? Full rally underbody, custom Fox dampers, suspension mounting points reinforced, cooling on rear diff...

Frumos video. Gata, acum am confirmarea ca sistemul AWD de la Dacia este mai performant decat Quattro. Diferenta de experienta intre cei 2 soferi, anvelope si stilul de condus in teren sunt detalii ce nu merita luate in calcul. Cu alte cuvinte Audi Q5 in teren este mai slab decat Duster. Lasand ironia la o parte, felicitari soferului de pe Dacia. Chiar stie sa se foloseasca de momentum-ul masinii, cand si unde sa accelereze.

The audi looks nice, but out of its elements in these fields. The dacia on the other hand is very much at home there.
It could perform better but the driver was very careful while driving. except the drift part:D

There was a muddy stretch on the way up for the Duster to humiliate the Audi Q5 for good. The suspension of the Duster 4x4 is much more resistant, only those who have driven one for a long time are able to confirm it.
Seems like the Duster driver simply drove better. He used momentum each time while the Audi driver tried to creep along.

Cool video, I own a 2012 Q5 2.0TFSI and love it, but I've always liked the Duster. Actually pretty surprised at how similar they are in size. Can hear how nice and short that 1st gear is in the duster and the interior of the new one is pretty cool.
The Audi Q5 is much larger than the Duster on the inside and the boot, it is a bigger class crossover.
@@jpch8814 Yes I know the Q5 is much larger inside, just commenting on how similar in size they look in the video from the outside. The Duster design just seems to make it look smaller than it actually is. When I see them on their own they look small, but when parked next to other cars you realize that it actually isn't that small. Well that's to my eye anyway

Looking at the range of prices between both car, I would say that I am impressed about the Dacia. Audi makes good cars, no doubt, but in this specific test, the price differences is unjustified. The much cheaper car, performs at least the same or even better than the other one. Sorry Audi...but it's true.
Kinda silly your comment, a car is not only the AWD (Which Audi performed pretty much the same as Duster) there is safety,handing,power,torque,quality,ergonomics,technology,resale value,comfort, and much more.
@@jpch8814 you are right, no doubt Audi makes good cars, as I said.
The rest, is just my personal opinion, based on what I've seen in the video and the cars I've driven so far (Pegeout, VW, BMW, Skoda, Renault, Dacia). In some cases, more money dosen't means better.

Not only has the price for such an Audi gone prohibitively up beyond the budget of an normal honest working person, but also the cost for mainenance is way out if reach for most. Even an oil-change has cost me 250 euros. It's just rediculous.

The automatic transmission isn't helping the audi. Loses all momentum sometimes and it almost comes to a complete stop.

Its strange that the duster had to follow in the footsteps of the Audi. Would the duster have managed if the Audi had not spread made the track first.

Why did the Audi always go first on the track and make the track more difficult. This is unfair.
Nettamente superiore la Q5.... Nell'utilizzo di tutti i giorni, per confrot, sicurezza, design, potenza, piacere di guida, etc etc, non sono paragonabili...
Per andare a cogliere il grano va bene qualunque auto 4x4 anche la fiat panda 4x4, scusate la mia opinione nettamente a favore della casa tedesca 🙂, mi dispiace non poter scrivere in Romano.

У вас уже есть, только он называеться Рено Дастер. А здесь в Европа - Дачиа Дастер. Разница только у передняя решетка.
They still have Gen.1ph.2, not Gen.2.
Even more, Dacia and Renault Gen.2 differ not only in grill. It's grill, headlights, front bumper, interior dash panel at least.

@@te.tadoari I thought that it already arrived on the Russian market, it was supposed to come in 2020 - at least thats what the news were saying. You are right - the difference is in the whole front end, but it is just aesthetic. And the dashboard for your market in my opinion is much better.

Der Duster wiegt ca. 500kg weniger und so wie es aussieht hat der auch mehr Bodenfreiheit was Ihn meiner Meinung nach zum eindeutigen Sieger macht. Ich finde außerdem das der Duster auch besser aussieht aber das ist ja geschmakssache.

Мне одному кажется, что все препятствия Дастер берет просто в режиме Авто? Если это так, то организатору большой ДИЗ, а машине три раза зачёт!!! Дастер для восточной Европы в режиме Lock и диагональ проходят легче, и в принципе, меньше проскальзывают колесом.
Мише ежду этими режимами, кажется, много общего, но работа помогающий электроники настроена по-разному. Диагональ, и сложное буксовпние на Дастере надо проходить только в режиме Lock об этом говорит производитель!
