@@lkkjhtemmexv1838 Thats a pretty ignorant thing to say. Some people buy it as a status symbol, and not due to some lack of intelligence as you so foolishly believe. People that love watches buy it for the remarkable craftsmanship of the watch.
Honestly from a snobby filmmaker's POV I think Mr Porter changed directors for their videos. They just aren't involving anymore. This video doesn't even show straight on shots of the watches or the watches on the wrist which is a big oversight, imo. The video consists merely of slider shots on the subject, a few pans across the watches and, inexplicably, the subject walking around town. Mr. Porter please rehire your old video production team.
It's deliberate. They know the watches don't look super impressive as a whole, so they just show bits at a time and let your imagination take care of the rest
Clearly the person running the camera has no idea how to cover watches. None of the watches has a full shot of the face, they were all weird angles which made identifying the exactly reference impossible
They are promoting Aurel as a luxury auctioneer and are using the brands to increase his credibility. This is not about the watches, is about him. Tricky stuff. To give you some background, the LVMH group are pushing volumes on the market and are needing “Independent, credible auctioneers” to push the idea of the watch as an investment to the young generation. Sponsor of this is Biver, if you research this you will understand the connections.
I haven't had a watch for years however.......I became tired of looking at cell phones for the time. Last month I was in Walmart and saw an assembled group of watched on sale...from $35...down to $2.50. I bought 4 and I love them....really!
Wish someday, I will buy watches from you! I'm coming to that vibrations soon. These type of videos make me feel WE DON"T HAVE RIGHT to sit and rest until you can sit while your money works for you! Thank you!
I have all of those models, took me 5 years actually to find the perfect models, im glad to hear mr bacs talk about this, sorry about my guido account its just for fun.
I’m only 6 mins in, but he’s shown a modern Rolex, a modern FPJ (by definition), and a modern Nautilus. How is this title even close to being accurate?
And that is a man with a refined taste, no fancy watches with diamonds that cost hundred of thousands of dollars. My only complaint of the video as others commented, the weird angles of the watches. I could not see them well.
At This Point I am interrested to see Nico Leonard (A Watch Expert) Do A reaction video Of Mr Aurel Bacs Watch Collection or Even Better Nico's Point of view of Aurel Bacs, purely because the majority of Nico Leonard he's videos are kind of roasting ones others watches. But this could be actually fascinating I recon.
Watch dealers have pumped the "vintage" watch market to a degree where even late 90´s and early 00´s Rolex watches are now considered "vintage"! Please be aware that most of the "likes" given to watch dealer posts on Instagram from followers are from OTHER watch dealers to make sure that potential buyers pull the trigger and buy regardless of the quality, condition and originality of the watches. The method is primarily used on posts from expensive vintage watch dealers (especially Rolex dealers) since the market of watches in "perfect, original condition" has dried up due to hype caused by Hodinkee and other big RUclips influencers. Now vintage Rolex dealers try to push more doubtful and heavily worn pieces to customers with service dials, hands, service glass and bracelets but still priced the same as for the perfect ones. Also remember that Rolex has produced hundreds of millions of watches since the 50´s and that there is no such thing as a rare Rolex watch, ONLY a few Rolex models which are RARELY put for sale. Even the most "rare" Rolexes, i.e. the Paul Newman Rolex Daytona were produced by the tens of thousands! And don´t forget that the millenials and the younger generations in general did´nt grow up with a wrist watch and have no sentimental, historical or personal attachment to watches at all, and that THESE are the potential buyers to the millions of overpriced old wrist watches on the market in the future. I have a huge network within teenagers in Scandinavia due to my work within athletics on high schools and I have never met a 14-19 year old teenager who wore a mechanical watch or showed ANY interest in my new or vintage Rolexes bought when they were extremely cheap only 15 years ago! Approx 10 % of todays teenagers wears an Apple watch and nothing else. So good luck selling your overpriced vintage watches in the future!
I watched this video 3 years ago and i have 8 watches now not so much as many of you guys but i have mine with all the great story i can say that this video made me want to own a watch lol
I am lucky to own a collection valued at over $1,000.000.My kids think I'm mad. They tell me I can find the time on my phone.🤔 They don't get it at all.Love watches.
I don't understand why some people buy expensive and fancy shoes or purses. So, I don't buy them. You could always adopt the same philosophy when it comes to watches lol Theres a niche` fro everyone out there. Enjoy!
This guy could sell ice to an Eskimo
Or an Ice Sar.
Or sand to an Arab
Or water to a fish
ROLEX ARE THE BEST.
WHY?
CAUSE THEY ARE FUKING EXPENSIVE
IDIOTS...LOVE EXPENSIVE SHIT CAUSE THEY CANT BUY INTELIGENCE

Only me or are the shots of the watches artsy but useless? You're SHOWCASING watches, I can't see them!
They trying to sell the story behind the watch not the watch itself
When you can tell a story like this guy does it really matter
That is why they provided the reference number, you can look it up online.

Now I understand why he was chosen to run the auction for the Paul Newman. He’s a complete class act.
He is a criminal who has sold numerous fake watches…
I can hear this man speak for days!
also...
I really appreciate that Mr P has listened and is making longer, more in-depth videos.

exactly what I thought after two minutes of video...
And the title is very missleading. He is not recommending any watch, he just shows us 6 expensive/rare watchs and some isnt even vintage -.-
exactly... 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
yah im not even sure what this channel is can someone explain, is it like a channel for style is it a business, is Mr porter a person, im confused lol
Agreed.
Just point the damn camera at the WHOLE watch.
Agree. Ridiculous framing.
Agree. I wonder how they got the job
It's deliberate. They know the watches don't look super impressive as a whole, so they just show bits at a time and let your imagination take care of the rest
I can listen to Mr Bacs for hours.
More videos with Aurel please
Yes gents! More of these please - we like this. Mr Bacs is a very interesting man and knows what he is talking about.
Clearly the person running the camera has no idea how to cover watches. None of the watches has a full shot of the face, they were all weird angles which made identifying the exactly reference impossible

The filming and editing of this video is absolute perfection.
Not just product introduction, but also the story and of course the story teller that make this video amazing
Mr. Bacs is, in my opinion, the world's greatest watch expert. He's so knowledgeable and passionate about fine horology.
Mr. P posted. Everything else must wait.
Agreed!
I could listen all my life this guy and never get borred.
The knowledge this man has on watches is amazing. Makes you want to be a billionaire!

One of my most favorite vintage is Omega Constellation Pie Pan Ref. 168.005
Beautifully crafted video
If I can talk like him I will totally rock my job interview tomorrow
FANDI DK yep
He described a watch as “charming, captivating , masculine and sometimes sexy”,
Interesting 😀
Awesome video. Thanks for making this. I feel inspired!
The rolex with diamonds on the face? Please.
Are you sure MVMT watches aren’t better than all of these?
Hey i know that reference. Total shite
Vincero is the best
MVMT is better than rolex😭
Amazing content Mr. P, and Mr. Baccs is a great personality.
Love being recommended a bunch of watches that I'm never going to be anywhere near. The first off the line Patek? That's not a recommendation.
Thank you for finally upping the production value. Shots look just as amazing as the watches.

No JLC Reverso...

Fuck, the passion Mr. Bacs disposes is marvelous.
His personality is so intense that if it came out that he’s a mafia boss that has personally executed people I really wouldn’t be surprised.
I'm not into the rolex watches, they look almost the same to me,however. This one is a very beautiful piece.
Besides the prestige and recognition they have, Rolex watches hold their value more than any other watch brand in the world.
Aurel can really sell Ice to the eskimos ? I didn’t realise someone already said this below, I promise we were on the same wavelength. Incredible.
Great content as always, that FP Journe. 👌🏽
I didn't know F.P. Journe prior to watching this video. Definitely a collectors watch.
You guys do such amazing content.
This is a little nugget a treasure of information about a subject of which I am totally ignorant.
Awesome collection of watches 🔥🔥 love watches with a story
I am so delighted knowing AP, Hublot, RM are not in the list
So well spoken! Well done Sir
A real confidential collection! You have my congratulations and those of my father.
Can you get any closer shots of the watch..cause i only wanted to see a forth of it.
No Jaeger le Coultre Reverso? How can that be a collection without JLC?
It's not a collection. They're being auctioned.
I have a g-shock world time that's rated to have 10 year battery. It is now its 20th year of rugged use and still moving.
Ok
weird flex but ok
Ok, we'll be waiting for your battery to reach 25 years
Can’t wait for more cooking content!
Was this film audio only as couldn’t see it at all?
Magical story from this Guy ...
Wow Great Video, Im disappointed the ultraman didn't get a better shot. Its a beast of a watch.
Love that UltraMan Omega

At 3:16, the numerals on the nautilus at 4 o'clock would drive me bonkers... especially at that price
I'm still watching this cuz I'm flexing on a 10$ casio that tells me the day and date.
Mr Aurel can sell anything to anybody 😀😀😀
Was it slo-mo or was the Nautilus actually ticking 3:51?
Slow mo
More videos with mr aurel, but please, if we are talking about watches at least show them entirely!

For the price of that second Rolex, you could get TWO Patek Philippe 3448s...
I think either bet would be a good investment.
Top 3 = Rolex - IWC - Omega
Wonderful explanation on the Omega Speedmaster Ultraman, I still can't understand why anyone would spend cash on this masterpiece.
Rock diamonds on day date or no?
