Excellent tutorial, easy to follow and right on point. I have been struggling with this program for about a year now. The training that comes with the package is way to long and hard to follow, with the limited time I have to work with it, I have never been able to produce anything I'm happy with. With in a couple hours watching your video and talking notes I have finally produce something I'm very pleased with. Cinema Grade should hire you to head up thier training.

Mittlerweile hab ich herausgefunden, dass die Base Correction und das Shot Matching in Kombination mit DaVinci nicht vorgesehen ist. IN deinem Tutorial machst du das ja in Kombination mit Premiere. Ist aber nicht tragisch weil DaVinci ja das shot matching im grading management bereits integriert hat. Viele Wege führe also nach Rom;-) LG Roland
Ja genau das liegt an DR da sie sowas nicht freigeben und dadurch ist es etwas limitiert. Aber wie du schon sagt mit den Nodes und PowerGrads geht es ganz schnell

Great video but I think I'm missing something. How did you get all the clips to show up at once? I can't do more than 1 at a time. And I don't have the 3 options you have at the top "Base, shot, final"

I love this app. Obviously for higher end projects, it would be best to use something like resolve, but for quiickturn around projects it works great. For real estate I need to have a 24-36 turnaround, and this just makes editing fly

Hey thanks for your feedback. Super easy 4K Bitrate 45mbs / 1080p 25mbs or you can also use the Premiere Pro RUclips presets. it’s also to find on the RUclips help Center or when you type in in Google Which Bitrate for 4K RUclips video? Hope I could help

@@cristybotea Yes it’s 45mbs or 45000kbs then RUclips will not compress so much your footage. Or ProRes 422 but this will require high wifi! As the files will be 5-25gb large.

Great overview and tutorial. I think it is important to say that once you move to the Final Grading tab, changes are applied to all shots in the group (even if it's not the Hero shot), while during the Base Correction process, changes are applied to every clip individually. Did you make the same experience? I hope CG will implement a good masking tool in the future.
You just made the two points that I was going to say. Id like to be able to isolate the skin tones to see on the vectorscope. I also was confused on how to get the grade on every clip.
NIce tutorial, so nice that I decided to download the demo for a try, but I can't find the plugin on my premiere 13.1.5 effects. I installed without problems and I have it in applications but apparently it didn't register within premiere plugins folder. Can you help? Thanks
Awesome, looking forward to hear how you like the plugin. Okay if you installed and restarted Premiere Pro it should be in Effects and "Video Effect" to the folder "Cinema Grade" where the plugin is. Hope I could help

Hmm then you haven’t installed it and it should be a seperate app Installed on your Mac. Search for cinema grade app. Actually mac is easier to use the windows it’s maybe new for you. I want to ask.. which version of final cut pro supports cinema grade? I have installed cinema grade in final cut pro 10.4.10 it always crashes. I install cinema grade version 1.1.3 it always crashes
This video is a lot of help I do have a minor complication in premiere pro when I export/edit the are color dots all over the footage and it does not go away how would I fix this.

@@dirk6420 Looks like you used PP before. In FCPX you copy effects on one clip then highlight the clip with the effect to copy it with ( CMD+C ) then highlight ALL the other clips and press ( CMD+SHIFT+V ) so that you choose which attributes you want to copy to the other clips. Tick only CinemaGrade so that you not copy any other settings to your other clips ;-)
In DaVinci Resolve 17 - When I use Cinema Grade and click Apply after making color adjustments it doesn’t show up in my actual footage, only in the window that opens when you’re making adjustments. I’m on an iMac. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help. I’ve reached out to the folks at Cinema Grade but they haven’t responded.

Hey, Which Premier and Cinema Grade Version do you have ? It should be after grading in Cinema Grade you need to click the apply button in the top right corner. Have you done this? Tell me if it works or where it get stuck. Try to open a new project add one clip and test it there just to see if it works or if you need to reinstall PP or Cinema Grade. I have tested in the New Premier Version and it works fine.
@@MaikKleinert yes sir I tried hitting apply. Tried the doing just one clip. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Cinema Grade, I did notice it keeps pulling up cmd prompt, and I'm cmd prompt it says "extension removal failed" hit any key, do that and it then says "extension installation failed. Attempt to install Cinema Grade extension failed - cinema grade extension returned error code 631 - press any key" I'm guessing this is my problem. Gonna try to do it again later. I just wasn't sure if I had to import it back into PP. But if you're saying all I have to do is hit "apply" then I definitely have a problem. Really appreciate you responding. I can't tell you how many videos I searched for trying to see what I was supposed to do. No one said once you hit apply it's in PP so I was pulling my hair out lol. Have you seen that code by chance in cmd prompt? 631?

After I did a grade with this and grabbed a stuff I was unable to apply that to a new video without using cinema grade. I don't know if this is just with the basic version buy its extremely annoying.
Which program are you using ? You have to use Cinema Grade to apply it to every clip. Before you have to make sure to apply to all the clips the cinema grade plugin so that you can see all the clips from you timeline in Cinema Grade 😉
@@MaikKleinert Cinema Grade Basic does not have the color space transform tab. Cinema Grade pro does OR as listed on checkout cinema grade "essential". They shit the bed on their website by using different names for the same product. Anyhow, I noticed that if you go directly to cinema grade to do grading without doing a color space transform first you cannot grab a still and use it on other clips. That was very a very annoying lesson.
@@robinhilliermodernagents7432 if you different nodes you can actually take a still or save as the PowerGrade. But glad it works now. Sometimes I use CinemaGrade to apply the correction lut there then grade and copy it to all clips
Working with a BRAW file and tying to make saturation and hue adjustments, it doesn't seem to do it locally, but applies the changes on ALL the fame, which is pretty annoying. Am I doing something wrong? For example, I have a pink vase and a blue vase, saturation adjustment makes both colours desaturate. any ideas?
@@MaikKleinert I use Premiere Pro and Cinema Grade (latest version and not pro version) with BMPCC4K BRAW files. When I try to shift saturation a specific point on the frame (like you do at 08:54), it changes the saturation of the entire image and not the selected point (the mountain rocks in your example). I can use the Lumetri HSL panel, which does the job, but if Cinema Graded doesn't work, I don't really see the point in using it personally.
@@swiftvisuals313 Which version of Cinema Grade & Premiere Pro do you have ? I tested it again and you may need to deinstall the app and install again. It works fine after clicking apply in Cinema Grade.

What is the problem right now? 1. Install Cinema Grade 2. Click on the Effect panel in FCPX, then drag the CinemaGrade effect to all of your clips. Step 3: Highlight the clip and click on "Open Controls" in the Inspector. When cinema grade opens, you will also see all the other clips with the CG plugin applied.
I got you. It's like a old raw vintage look I like it too. But most people or what we can see in Advetisment are colorful. Its your choice at the end or if the client what this look. But you still have to correct and sharpen the footage :-)
It's error like " Adobe reader could not open 'cinemagrade.dmg' beacuse it is either not a supported file type or beacuse the file has been damaged, ( for example, it was sent as a email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."
@@StrTrendsOfficial it looks like you try to Open this file with the Adobe reader which is not the right one. Hold Control Key and click on the install app. Option 2 restart your computer then try again. Or choose the dmg mac Programm to open the app. Or Re download the file. Option 3 go to, System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, then click General then there should be a button “open anyway”

@@DotAndDab Ah you need to download then the M1 version it works in Beta as well. About log Profil it’s important to download the correction lut from Sony for your camera log or hgl. It’s a kind of import lut. Then you can do the correction and grading
I bought the license for this two days ago, for Windows 10, and I´m using premeire. I´ve activated it, but every change I make in it does not apply on premiere. I can´t color grade multiple clips, I can´t view “match shots” and other tabs related to multiple clips. I´ve contacted support but no reply. I hope this is legit and I get help or a refund. 😔

I know it's a nightmare with premiere pro thats why I switched a year ago to Davinci Resolve. Try do deinstall cinema grade then premiere pro and reinstall all it worked for me most of the time with othere plugins. Sorry to here that. What errors are coming ? @@stacuri1205chicago you can set down the timeline or video quality to quarter or create proxie. Davinci Resolve 18 is super good and should work on iMac
I just bought a new MacBook Pro 2019, after installing cinema grade, I’ve this error message. Cinema grade tailed to connect to the host. Please ensure that the host is running and a Cinema grade plugin is active.
Happens to me at the beginning as well. SOLUTION: You have to open Premiere Pro then go to the Project and the clips you want to color grade. If you haven't applied the plugin to the clips it and be in the project it would not work. Cinema Grade scans your timeline and then it will open all the clips where you have the plugin on it. Don't close premiere pro, fcpx or Davinci. Depends on which one you use. The error comes because it can not communicate with the editing software. Hope I could help ;-)
1. Download the plugin 2. Install the plugin 3. Go to Effect Browser --> Cinema Grade then move the effect to your video clip 4. Open Video Inspector -> go to Cinema Grade and Open Control. The same as shown in the video ;-) Hope I could help

Thanks for sharing. When to use a look and when to use a LUT?
Looks are more camera correction or can be also a film look you will apply. LUT is more preset for Color Grading where the colours are more changed.

I am not sure with braw but yes as you import the file into the editing software then apply the CinemaGrade plugin. I used prores hq 422

I want to ask.. which version of final cut pro supports cinema grade? I have installed cinema grade in final cut pro 10.4.10 it always crashes. I install cinema grade version 1.1.3 it always crashes

Thanks I appreciate that. You can not save it in CinemaGrade yet. Save it in the EffectControl as you save others presets in settings.

This video is a lot of help I do have a minor complication in premiere pro when I export/edit the are color dots all over the footage and it does not go away how would I fix this.

@@dirk6420 Looks like you used PP before. In FCPX you copy effects on one clip then highlight the clip with the effect to copy it with ( CMD+C ) then highlight ALL the other clips and press ( CMD+SHIFT+V ) so that you choose which attributes you want to copy to the other clips. Tick only CinemaGrade so that you not copy any other settings to your other clips ;-)

In DaVinci Resolve 17 - When I use Cinema Grade and click Apply after making color adjustments it doesn’t show up in my actual footage, only in the window that opens when you’re making adjustments. I’m on an iMac. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any help. I’ve reached out to the folks at Cinema Grade but they haven’t responded.

When you bought it it will just activate it in the App so you can see them there. Thats how it was for me

Hey, Which Premier and Cinema Grade Version do you have ? It should be after grading in Cinema Grade you need to click the apply button in the top right corner. Have you done this? Tell me if it works or where it get stuck. Try to open a new project add one clip and test it there just to see if it works or if you need to reinstall PP or Cinema Grade. I have tested in the New Premier Version and it works fine.
@@MaikKleinert yes sir I tried hitting apply. Tried the doing just one clip. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Cinema Grade, I did notice it keeps pulling up cmd prompt, and I'm cmd prompt it says "extension removal failed" hit any key, do that and it then says "extension installation failed. Attempt to install Cinema Grade extension failed - cinema grade extension returned error code 631 - press any key"
I'm guessing this is my problem. Gonna try to do it again later.
I just wasn't sure if I had to import it back into PP. But if you're saying all I have to do is hit "apply" then I definitely have a problem.
Really appreciate you responding. I can't tell you how many videos I searched for trying to see what I was supposed to do. No one said once you hit apply it's in PP so I was pulling my hair out lol.

After I did a grade with this and grabbed a stuff I was unable to apply that to a new video without using cinema grade. I don't know if this is just with the basic version buy its extremely annoying.
Which program are you using ? You have to use Cinema Grade to apply it to every clip. Before you have to make sure to apply to all the clips the cinema grade plugin so that you can see all the clips from you timeline in Cinema Grade 😉
@@MaikKleinert Cinema Grade Basic does not have the color space transform tab. Cinema Grade pro does OR as listed on checkout cinema grade "essential". They shit the bed on their website by using different names for the same product. Anyhow, I noticed that if you go directly to cinema grade to do grading without doing a color space transform first you cannot grab a still and use it on other clips. That was very a very annoying lesson.
@@robinhilliermodernagents7432 if you different nodes you can actually take a still or save as the PowerGrade. But glad it works now.
Sometimes I use CinemaGrade to apply the correction lut there then grade and copy it to all clips

Working with a BRAW file and tying to make saturation and hue adjustments, it doesn't seem to do it locally, but applies the changes on ALL the fame, which is pretty annoying. Am I doing something wrong? For example, I have a pink vase and a blue vase, saturation adjustment makes both colours desaturate. any ideas?
Which editing program you use? It should apply it to all the clips if you haven't grouped them in Davinci or the Cinema Grade app.
@@MaikKleinert I use Premiere Pro and Cinema Grade (latest version and not pro version) with BMPCC4K BRAW files. When I try to shift saturation a specific point on the frame (like you do at 08:54), it changes the saturation of the entire image and not the selected point (the mountain rocks in your example). I can use the Lumetri HSL panel, which does the job, but if Cinema Graded doesn't work, I don't really see the point in using it personally.

How do you install Cinema Grade on FINAL CUT? Please someone help!
What is the problem right now? 1. Install Cinema Grade 2. Click on the Effect panel in FCPX, then drag the CinemaGrade effect to all of your clips. Step 3: Highlight the clip and click on "Open Controls" in the Inspector. When cinema grade opens, you will also see all the other clips with the CG plugin applied.

Yes thats when you have not enter the activation code. Go click on CinemaGrade in the top menu bar and then Regestration and activate your licence ;-)

I got you. It's like a old raw vintage look I like it too. But most people or what we can see in Advetisment are colorful. Its your choice at the end or if the client what this look. But you still have to correct and sharpen the footage :-)

It's error like " Adobe reader could not open 'cinemagrade.dmg' beacuse it is either not a supported file type or beacuse the file has been damaged, ( for example, it was sent as a email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."

Open this file with the Adobe reader which is not the right one. Hold Control Key and click on the install app. Option 2 restart your computer then try again. Or choose the dmg mac Programm to open the app. Or Re download the file.
Option 3 go to, System Preferences, click Security & Privacy, then click General then there should be a button “open anyway”

unfortunately, it is not possible to see the whole clip whilst editing once you clic open control panel.
Yes you can see all the clips in Cinema Grade where you have applyed the Cinema Grade plugin. Make sure you add to all clips the plugin

@@DotAndDab Ah you need to download then the M1 version it works in Beta as well.
About log Profil it’s important to download the correction lut from Sony for your camera log or hgl. It’s a kind of import lut. Then you can do the correction and grading

I bought the license for this two days ago, for Windows 10, and I´m using premeire. I´ve activated it, but every change I make in it does not apply on premiere. I can´t color grade multiple clips, I can´t view “match shots” and other tabs related to multiple clips. I´ve contacted support but no reply. I hope this is legit and I get help or a refund. 😔
I bought the pro version pay 99$ now every time I try to use or render my project my premiere gets error and quits

I know it's a nightmare with premiere pro thats why I switched a year ago to Davinci Resolve. Try do deinstall cinema grade then premiere pro and reinstall all it worked for me most of the time with othere plugins. Sorry to here that. What errors are coming ? Every time I install Davinci resolve and trying to work with B-raw footage the playback is not smooth and it’s driving me crazy to try to work with that glitchy playback

@@stacuri1205chicago you can set down the timeline or video quality to quarter or create proxie. Davinci Resolve 18 is super good and should work on iMac
I just bought a new MacBook Pro 2019, after installing cinema grade, I’ve this error message.
Cinema grade tailed to connect to the host.
Please ensure that the host is running and a Cinema grade plugin is active.
Happens to me at the beginning as well. SOLUTION: You have to open Premiere Pro then go to the Project and the clips you want to color grade. If you haven't applied the plugin to the clips it and be in the project it would not work. Cinema Grade scans your timeline and then it will open all the clips where you have the plugin on it. Don't close premiere pro, fcpx or Davinci. Depends on which one you use.
The error comes because it can not communicate with the editing software. Hope I could help ;-)

How do I install it on my final cut pro
1. Download the plugin 2. Install the plugin 3. Go to Effect Browser --> Cinema Grade then move the effect to your video clip 4. Open Video Inspector -> go to Cinema Grade and Open Control. The same as shown in the video ;-) Hope I could help
