    1:28 This part... this melody... again and again...
    It's like a neverending tune that brings you hope in your adventure, travelling through the vastness of this seemingly endless desert of snow, death and danger...
    It's so beautiful and epic... I could AFK there for hours just to listen to this.

      The entire Frostfire Ridge zone and questline was amazing. It is funny how this very part was so immersive and well done, too bad that once you step out of this zone is when you start to notice all the cut content and lack of things to do in the rest of the expansion, except for Blackrock Foundry, that raid was perfect too.

    When a soundtrack can capture so many emotions: sadness, anxious, determination, focus and so much more, it truly can only be described as a masterpiece

    I literally bought the soundtrack just to hear the piano part at 15:00 & 16:00.
    Being someone who was lucky enough to slog through the horrible server overloads until I could get to a point where no one other than beta testers had ever stood, on top of a rock in a brand-new world, looking out at pristine snowy expanses punctuated with lava ponds and jutting black stone, just the snow falling, the clouds bright with moonlight and not a soul around.... Made frostfire one of my favorite zones, and is probably the main reason I still shell out that bloody monthly freaking fee.

    This music, to me, is overwhelming. I myself have never quested in this zone, and only come here to kill nok-karosh, but I'll be damned if I said I wouldn't want to make a horde character just so I could level in this zone, and listen to this music. As I'm typing this, I'm not exactly in a good mood, and music like this, (at the start of the video) just seems to help take all of my problems away for the day.
    Cheers, everyone. I hope this music helped you like it helped me.

    First time i got here reminded me of à long time ago when a passed away friend and i made our first shammy and warrior.
    We used to talk about draenor, wondering if we could see it how it was before the burning legion came. And since that i've seen ga'nar die, the löss of Someone so dear to you.... To much for me.

    I just got to this zone for the first time and I am blown away by the art design and this music deserves special mention! I did a quest where I was to locate and burn the bodies of slain Frostwolves to give them a proper burial. Just then the choir at 4:45 kicks in and well...let`s just say it fit the mood perfectly.

      Are you serial right now? WoD had one of the best Leveling experience and Raids to date and the OST almost as good as Vanilla and the first 2 Expansions! Only shitty thing I can think about that was shitty was the Garrisons. It only sucked if all you did was solo play and sit in your Garrison with your NPCs.

    I loved opting to ride on my Korkron Wolf mount through this region on my hunter, with either Gara or a white frost wolf by my side, instead of using a flight point. The scenery plus the music is just… beautiful to trek through. Snowflakes and the winds blowing the snow off the hilltops are so detailed. The bond the Frostwolf clan shares with their wolves is how I feel about my hunter and the pets, and I’m also loving how Gara’s storyline shows that bond between Beast Master and Beast. They aren't just pets, they are companions. This area is so expansive and open to the elements, I would look up at the sky and watch the beautiful stars and clouds.

  • @THEFINALHAZARD
    @THEFINALHAZARD 9 лет назад +49

    To be honest, I JUST got done with Frostfire Ridge... And damn so far if I ain't blown away by this expansion so far. First off, character depth. I feel I actually connect with the NPC's essentially. For example, the quest where Asha dies to the Iron Wolf. I'd grown to really like Lokra over the quests, and thus knowing about the bonds and such between the Frostwolves and their Wolves, Asha by proximity. And she was pretty cool with that lightning fast run. But then, when she died, I just kinda sat there, like, '...No, wait no he didn't...Oh, shit he...Oh god...'. I was in complete shock that that had just happened, and I won't lie. The text and lack of voice acting makes it so deep. Why? Because when reading the character's words, you're filling in the emotion yourself. You're not hearing someone force a pained voice, you're hearing Lokra in your mind basically as you're reading that text in her voice, with what strikes -you- as a -real- pained voice. Tears, were shed when Asha passed. Not going to lie one bit. They were. That sadness though, was replaced by a sense and feeling of pure anger and rage at the Iron Wolf, and a complete desire to make him pay. Why? Immersion, that's why. This expansion immerses you between the writing, the music, and the overall story in a way I haven't seen in any other part of WoW, from Vanilla to MoP.If this would have happened with Asha in MoP, I just woulda been like "Oh fuck you blizz, that sucks... YOU suck for doing that.", still relating it to Blizzard. In WoTLK?(Let's face it, no character depth was present practically in CATA) More of a '..Well shit, that was a cool wolf. Shame she's dead.'. But what makes WoD so different really? I'd say it's the fact that it's more than just the writing style, more than just the music. It's also the things that are as little as the background stuff you see. Throughout the quests in Frostfire Ridge, you are never explicitly told, but you learn none the less how -close- the Frostwolves are to their Wolf partners. You learn and see just how strong of a bond they have, and you get all of this just from... Background stuff mainly. Seeing the Orcs and the Wolves interacting with each other on the other side of the town, the concern and care shown for their wolves, and all that. Then, that happens to Asha. Knowing that bond they had, how much they meant to each other, and now that's gone? And you are so immersed in the world, you stop relating it to 'Blizzard doing this via writers', and instead, 'The Iron Wolf doing this to her'? Well done Blizzard, -WELL- done. That is something that is very, very difficult to do -right-. Especially with me at least. Then there's this music... Oh this music... The one problem I've seen with WoW's music, while awesome, merely describes what it's meant to. The taverns in MoP, for example,w ere quirky, light hearted asiany places. So they went with a silly Asian style theme. In WoTLK, the Dragonblight was pretty much a snowy wasteland, so the music represented that. Just as it did for Icecrown being a snowy wasteland or horrors and terrors. But that, is where they fell short. Every song, just, -described- the area. It represented a mere theme. WoD"s music I've felt so far, does more than that. It represents the very soul of the region. Take this track here for example, the first five minutes of it or so. What is Frostfire Ridge? A snowy area, a cold area. But the more you look, the more you find, and you find more differences than just 'snowy cold'. You find the volcanic areas near the Blades Edge Mountains, you find the coastal areas, the pass to the next zone... And you know what? This 'theme' represents that, not just as a description, but as it is. It's hard to explain exactly what I mean, maybe it's just a musician thing, I dunno. But overall, I think the music here in WoD tells of the feel of the zone, in far more depth than a 'surface description/theme' and yet, doesn't give much away. If you to were hear this song without having been to Frostfire, what would you imagine it represents? Probably not this. And that's what makes it a masterpiece overall. Is that until you see the land itself, it doesn't 'click' really. But once you see it, and are there and such in the game.. You kinda realize more than ever, this is exactly what the music is telling you of, what it's showing through itself.

    the stongest thing about frostfire is the motif they used, simple and appealing.
    use it with chorus 4:44
    use it with violin 15:23
    use it with horns 15:42
    it can apply to almost anything you're doing in the zone, since it's this sort of bittersweet/"i survived"/triumphant thing

    • @huntmastergutentag557

      it really lends itself well to the idea of a barren wasteland, does it not? the harshness of the Frostwolf clan's chosen abode really translates in that particular motif. simple, beautiful, yet almost hopeless.

    • @treebeard7298
      @treebeard7298 9 лет назад +5

      ***** I totally agree with that.
      Its much more focused on quality quests, that while still are a bit to the formula, are much improved with all the cutscenes and short "focus" sequences on future bosses or upcoming enemies (For example, the arena fight at the start of the Expansion where it has a short focus on an enemies, with custom made face animation that ACTUALLY match up to the words) and a much more related overall story line. Questing feels like you are actually accomplishing things, and encourage you to continue the story line and move from area to area.
      Playing Vanilla, I felt like I had no idea where to go, or quest at, and its slowly improved, but they really nailed it this time, and the addition of zone quests, and quite a few more rarespawn/elites as challenges with extremely good item drops is also quite refreshing.
      I

    Please someone wake me up from this nightmare. My absolute favourite expansion of all time, as a 16 year long time wow veteran... is the most hated expanion ever made by the entire wow community? It was meant to be the chosen one, with the most relevant lore characters that are the bread and butter of true Warcraft lore.... Nerz'hul, Gul'dan, Kargath Bladefist, Blackhand, Killrogg Deadeye, Durotan, Gromm himself!!! and Son of Hellscream, Garrosh. It is with pain in my heart to see the current state of retail wow. The only thing left, is marketing lead by SJW lobbying interest groups that have turned the story into edgy teen elfs, feminism and soyboys. I hope the current generation of Retail enjoy it while it lasts...
    RIP Blizzard, you will be forever remembered in my heart... a 30 year old veteran and father of 2... I rest my gaming hobby into the grave as the industry continues to cater to the new generation of gamers. It has been an honour while it lasted.... but today.... I retire

      The problem with Wod was boring stories and the fact that there was no patch, update or anything between summer of 2015 until Legion launched in august 2016. Over one year of drought and boredom.

    Little did I know that this would be the last place I would quest in WoW with my heart in it.
    Legion was okay, but the story line has since lost its spirit. I’ve moved on. But I’ll never forget the orcs.

    Just did explore Frostfire ridge achievement yesterday. The zone itself is desolate and ugly, I thought Shadowmoon Alley looked way better. However, this zone has hands down the best music for WoD, i was blown away when i first entered the zone.

    Say what you want, WoD has a special place for me.
    How i wish they didn't intend to make it a "filler" expansion.

    • @lightaccel744
      @lightaccel744 6 лет назад

      they never intended to make it a "filler" expansion it was an amazing expansion filled with a lot of lore however during it happened the whole "Nostalrius" thing and people started 'boycotting' blizzard for it and everyone went into an outrage "omg WoW nowadays is so bad" "I got to 100 in 5hrs" etc. so what the idiots did is scrap everything about WoD thinking it's the expansion the people hate and not the way the game state in general is
      with that they went into desperate mode to bring as many people as possible for the next expansion which is why they brought back a famous character that 'everybody loves' aka Illidan who should've stayed dead for good
      there are so many unanswered things about AU Draenor like the land from where the Ogres come, the whole deal with Cho'gath, Wrathion being shown a few times as working behind the curtains during the entire expansion (seeing him in drake form in the final legendary quest talking with Khadgar)
      they do not care about this game's lore at all anymore
