  • My first movie with a zone from the Warlords of Draenor expansion of World of Warcraft, it is about the zone which is the most deer to me. Frostfire Ridge is a harsh land of ceaseless winter and volcanic peaks, where travelers encounter molten lava as often as painfully cold snow and the heroes have to battle multiple factions makes this zone even harder to like, but the beauty of the zone is undeniable enhanced by the special dedicated music composed by Russell Brower (called Magnificent Desolation). Please enjoy 1 hour of music and ambience, in which I combine multiple themes: Frostfire Ridge general walk, The Horde / Frostwolf Clan, Ogres, Thunderlord clan and the Iron Horde.
Frostfire Ridge - Horde edition - Music & Ambience: • Frostfire Ridge, Horde...
Frostfire Ridge - Magnificent Desolation - Music & Ambience: • Frostfire Ridge - Tra...
Frostfire Ridge - Frozen Ambience: • Video
After a daring escape from the clutches of the Iron Horde in Tanaan Jungle, Thrall and a handful of survivors run ashore on the southern banks of Frostfire Ridge.
This landing is well-timed. Soon after the crash, they are met by Durotan, youngest son of Garad and acting chieftain of the Frostwolf clan. Unlike the other clans, the Frostwolves chose to defy the Iron Horde and refused to join their ranks. This has put them in a dangerous position, with the ogre slavers of Bladespire Fortress on one side and the beastmasters of the Thunderlord clan on the other. The Thunderlord are eager to prove themselves to the Iron Horde and will stop at nothing to eradicate the Frostwolf clan from existence.
Outnumbered and surrounded by enemies, Durotan and his Frostwolves need all the help they can get to survive. It falls to players to quickly establish a Garrison and raise an army using whatever means necessary to aid the Frostwolves and secure a foothold in Draenor.
Durotan doesn’t know is that Thrall is his son, not yet born in this timeline. Thrall also has a personal stake in the plight of the Frostwolves. This is a chance to meet his parents and his clan when they were in their prime: powerful heroes bound by honor and loyalty.
Across snow-covered wastes and beneath towering volcanoes, heroes of the Frostwolf clan and the Horde unite to repel invaders from their homeland.
Frostfire Ridge serves as the starting zone for Horde players once they’ve endured the initial rigors of Tanaan Jungle and survived their first encounter with the Iron Horde.

My first Warlords of Draenor zone music & ambience video. I know the expansion was not that great for many, but I liked the zones quite a lot.
I am going to do one more video with music & ambience just with the general theme of this zone called "Magnificent Desolation" (Edit: Done, links bellow). This one includes a mix of all themes present in Frostfire Ridge and it's Horde centric.
I've filmed Nagrand too, so I guess it's coming soon.

      Meisio,
I want you to make one with the Alliance garrison. It would be so great, to be honest.

I have in plan to create Garrison movies for each faction. I already have all the decorations in place (so I will present it with all cosmetic changes), all I need is time now :) Thanks for your request. I will start with the Alliance Garrison then :)

I played WoD for so long time long ago. Mostly Horde, but I didn't abandoned Alliance tho. It's so heartwarming and cozy to me. It's like remembering the days when I had more MMORPG expieriences with WoW than ever(I started playing since the end of MoP). I liked levelling in WoD, I liked music so much (It's on really high level IMHO). Feels like a balsam on my soul, just like nostalgia. I know that many people will call me crazy and dumb, saying that WoD was bullshit. Yea, I was once influenced with such an opinion. But soon I realised my mistake and I respect WoD for what it was, what innovations it had brought to us. Yes, it has its bad sides and good ones, just like any other subject we can ever talk about (even WotLK and Legion has them!), but as a whole I liked WoD and enjoyed it. That is why I feel so nostalgic for listening to its music. I think I'm going to cry for the last hour. I can't make myself not to cry, cuz it brings a lot of good memories buried deep inside me, that are longing to come out.

You are not crazy (nor dumb). I liked WoD as well. It is like in the case of music taste. It is _personal._ I liked it because my son liked it, so I made a personal connection. Besides, it started really well, but it failed later in the end game. And I am here presenting the _good stuff_ anyway, these zones which are very well made.
Thank you for coming back, much appreciated ❤

Pretty cool zone. I didn’t get to play WoD but it feels very grounded to Wow’s OG look.

I remember the first time I jumped off Nagrand to cross over to Frostfire. I was slightly jealous at how beautiful and desolate Frostfire was, but then I saw treasure and remembered the real reason I came over there. For treasure. But I was definitely mad that horde has that cool citadel (filled with MORE TREASURE) and alliance doesn't have anything like that. I mean, I'd love to stealthy search for fun stuff in Shadowmoon Valley. But instead most things were just on a cliff or in a cave. No risk of being caught.

i absolutely hated WoD. The only thing i did like was Ashran. And the only thing i loved, was the soundtrack. Thanks for sharing another wonderful video!

The WoD zones are so beautiful. It started so well. I loved the Garrison concept (I know many hated it, but I am a lonely spirit sometimes and I enjoyed the intimacy of my Garrison). Too bad they screwed up later...
Thank you for your appreciation, kind regards,
      Meisio

" I loved the Garrison concept (I know many hated it, but I am a lonely spirit sometimes and I enjoyed the intimacy of my Garrison). Too bad they screwed up later..." I have to agree with you on that one. The idea of a Garisson sounded great in my ears at first, but after experiencing the boringness of it, made me sad. I sometimes wanted to escape the busy world and hearthed back to my garisson, just like in RL. Relaxing, enjoying the sights and sounds of it, especially after reaching max level. And that Horde garisson soundtrack oh good Lord.

I think WoD was actually really good, Blizz just quit in the middle of it because the infamous 'community' was so vicious against it. The garrison could've been amazing if developed a bit further; the dungeons on mythic were quite fun; Farahllon as a 'Timeless Isle 2.0' could've been great; Ashran was actually pretty good when enough people were there. The questing was great, and the zones feeling so completely different was cool (esp. after the same-iness of MoP).

They've done Draenor also as a support for the movie. To be relevant. But I still love WoD's world. I wasn't into raiding anyway.

    • @Meisio

I agree. Recent BfA events and their end of financial year declarations and actions has confirmed indeed that this was the intention: to make the game as profitable as it can be, ignoring the community in general.

it's just too bad Garrison's got wrapped up into the WoD Hate Train...they were SUCH a great idea at the start. Players have been begging for some kind of housing in the game ever since TBC if I remember. My one main gripe was that the Town Hall upgrades should've been BoA. But whatever. Too late now.

    • @Meisio

I agree with you completely. Class halls in Legion were not the same thing unfortunatelly and they did not offered me the same privacy feeling as the Garrison or the small farm on the Valley of the Four Winds.
      Salutations and welcome back :-)
