  • I liked the Ohuhu paint markers I had tried so much that I went out and bought these dual tipped markers and then a new version came out. Were they really any different, I wondered? Or is it the same pen in fancy new packaging for more money?? Let's swatch them out and see whether they are new and improved or whether it is a con - and spoiler alert - they are much improved!! I really like the opacity.
Ohuhu is well known for its alcohol markers, but it also makes acrylic paint pens and fineliners, along with lots of other pen options. I really like these type of pens for mixed media and line and wash work, so was pleased to try them out.
If you would like to see the bookmark film I mention, you can find it here: • How to make watercolou... If you want to see the other Ohuhu review it is here: • How good are these Ohu...
In the interest of honesty, yes I was sent them for free, but this review is 100% my own opinion.

I really like the colors better in the original set, because I love brights much more than pastels. Since I have the original set that works out great for me! Thank you SO much for taking the time to swatch and compare both sets. When I am looking to purchase something like this it is so helpful when somebody swatches them out. Even though they will probably look a little different in person, you can still get a good idea of the colors. Rest that tired arm!

I so nearly didn't and am really pleased I did swatch both sets. In effect they seem to have added a lot of white which suits me but not everyone

Great demo of the upgraded Ohuhu acrylic paint pens. I bought the earlier set, which I absolutely love. It seems to me that the new set has a lot more white pigment as the colours are paler and more pastel. That said, the Azure Blue is drastically different and I think better. I prefer the original light grey, but then maybe the new formula would be better for highlights or even shadows for pale subjects. I agree, the Lemon Yellow has become a deeper Cadmium Yellow which would be missed (for me). The Silver has improved drastically, I think. I'd miss quite a few of the older formulations, but on white paper only. I can also see how the improved opacity of the new formula would be great for highlights. Phew, I'm all a flutter about how different many colours are here. So very thankful you did this detailed comparison because I would have thought I had a defective set if I'd bought the new ones without seeing your review and demo! I still see myself buying the new ones eventually but I've only recently bought the older ones so it would be overkill at this time. Who knew a swatch comparison between 'versions' would be so informative?! Wonderful! Thank you very much and all the best! 👍👍👍

They seem to have solved the opacity problems by mostly adding white. Great if you like pastels (which I do); not so great for the fluorescents.
    Thanks for your review!

A wonderful, informative video. You did not mention whether there is an odor or toxicity in the new set. That would be an important consideration to some of us. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and showing the results of your own investigation.
I think I shall give these a pass after seeing HOW they work. I am one of those people who is sensitive to touch and sound and I hate to be held up by recalcitrant tools and materials. The combination of the scratchy sound and the frustration of waiting for them to work overcomes any other advantages acrylic markers of any brand might have. You are a blessing to all of us for not only your skill and creative talent but also your generosity of spirit. May you be blessed in every form of abundance that is important to you. ☮️❤️🙏🏻

there was no odour. I guess I wouldn’t expect any acrylic pen to have one. Yes, they were scratchy. The pumping is a one off…. I have heard of no pump pens, so they are out there 😊

Have you done a video showing how to use acrylic markers? I’d find that interesting. I tend to stick to watercolour. Thanks for the interesting video!

I use them in mixed media so most of my journal films might be useful, but also in these bookmarks ruclips.net/video/jHiuslGZ1Lc/видео.html and I will do a film about the sneakers

    In ohuhu we trust hahahahha
I got the set of alcool 120 markers, then the skin set of 24, then pastel 48 and neutrals 24, then watercolor pads.... then I got the water soluble markers... I wil probably get the acrylic markers at some point. But I don't use them as much as the watercolor or alcool. I use good old acrylic paint and brush of witch I have so so much of.

I haven’t had to, so I cannot say. I thought about it but didn’t want to ‘waste’ a nib for demonstration purposes!

It does seem like they just added a white base to the original colors.
