I do wish company's would focus on their good products and getting them better instead of always adding more sets!!! Wonderful to see you again Lily xx😘 love to the boys x

I heard about the art markers and was so happy! I had never seen so many pastel shades of water-based markers before. But then I tried to buy them yesterday and they've completed disappeared from the Internet! I was willing to pay so much for it. But hopefully this new set will expand and there will be more pastel colors in it. Thank you for this excellent review!

Interesting, I missed getting the art marker sets, so these look like a good addition. I don’t have many tombows, so these could add to them nicely. 👍🏻 Thanks for showing them, x

Yes, I think they're the same as the old Art Markers... and likely more colours to follow if the gaps in the colour numbers are anything to go by 🥰

Hey Lily . cool video. your observations are so spot on. I like the mid-liners have a set of 30 shuttle arts that are lovely. even though i dont journal!. But as you mentioned when ohuhu brought out their dual tipped white barrel i already had the 168 effimeso set for my mandalas which are still workoing great at probably a fraction of the cost. I know everyone raves about ohuhu but am still on the fence. anyway hope your project at work is not too stressful. Keep making the vids please.

It's a shame that Ohuhu dilute their good products with other white-labelled ones. Your Efimeso ones will be identical to the Ohuhu version!

Aye. I remember when first starting out i wanted all the sets. Until i watched videos like yours and realised they were all similar. But I do love them.@@ArtJourneyUK

I slept on the 'tombow' ohuhu markers when they were still available due to having to space out purchases and leaving stuff for christmas wishlists... and they sold out and discontinued them. So I only have the pastel and saturated sets and BOY do I regret that as they're my favorite water based markers (I don't have any tombow, they're too expensive for me!). I recently got my hands on another set of ohuhu (that you don't show here so it's yet another set lol) and the color gamut seems similar to these. They have a thicker barrel and are more like the discontinued set with a thicker nib on the non-brush side instead of a fineliner. They're the closest to the discontinued ones I've seen but they only have a 48 set and you can't even find them on their store front.
They seem to be trying out different mixes of barrels and packaging with basically the same color combos, which is a bit frustrating. The newest set I got does have great quality ink, they're water soluble so work as watercolor pens, and the layering streaks are less pronounced than other water based markers I've tried. They DO streak but not as obviously as the typical ones.

And yes I can confirm that the ohuhu tombow lookalikes are in fact discontinued. I contacted Ohuhu directly and they confirmed to me they are no longer making them, which is a shame as they are so good!

@@MyStarseedColoring The Ohuhu lookalikes are (were!) great, I was not optimistic when I tested and them and was pleasantly surprised how good they were, especially when blending out with water. I wish Ohuhu would stick with their winning formulas; they seem to keep dipping their toes into inferior 'white-labelled' varieties! I'm always wary when something is on Amazon but not their website. I've seen the pens you mentioned and thought about buying to review in this video, but thought better of it! 🥰

Im just wondering if these new set fill in the gaps of the older water based pens as they were quite pale in comparison for some colours. Think i may purchase for this reason

Very interesting Inspector Lily 😁 I've been looking for a large set of fine liners to use in Johanna's 2024 journal (some of the images are teeny tiny) so looked at the Ohuhuuuu, I'm confused now! There appears to be two set of the Maui Series Journal Pens, one with black barrels, and one with white barrels. Are they the same pens? Are Ohuhuuuu just trying to pull the wool over our eyes as on a quick glance they look to be different pens and some folk with FOMO would buy both sets! All the blurb says the same on both sets except the white set says 'New Packaging' x

    • @ArtJourneyUK
      @ArtJourneyUK  3 месяца назад +1

I'd say 100% they are the same pens. There's only so much Ohuhu ink to go around 😅... and they do seem to like repackaging things! Fine Liner wise... have you looked at the Triplus and Stabilo Finerliners... actually I thought I made a video comparing them (and the Arteza) but it seems like I only part filmed it and never uploaded it!

Thank you for this Lily. I have a set of the Art Markers and I use them regularly. I was disappointed when Ohuhu stopped making them as I really like them. It looks like these new journalling pens are similar, although I'm not a fan of the fluorescent colours!

@@ArtJourneyUK I've got both the Triplus and Stabilo fine liners lol, I just fancied these as they come in sets of 160, probably a load of browns that I wouldn't use anyway lol. x

@@kaleidoscopiccolours Me either! They are *just* like highlighters. I wonder if this is the first box of a few different sets? The gaps in the colour numbers would imply that there may be more to come... 🥰

I always say to look at the actual color marker of the tip inside, not the tip of the marker tip on the outside, to determine the real color. The Color on the outside is just to give you an idea of the shade. The actual tip is what tells you how close to actual color they are.

    • @ArtJourneyUK

Some people are really interested in whether the cap colour matches or not. To be fair, the tip really doesn't match the colour if it's a transparent ink.
