I wish I found this video sooner. I have spent the last 3 days buying and trying every size washer known to man and none of them work. I have been so confused, your video has made things a lot clearer. Thank you
What a star you are. You have just saved us wasting our time trying to get to the 'O' rings and then trying to find new ones. My partner was getting so frustrated. Thank you so much.👏👏👏
That particular tap design is the one that I hate the most. Simply changing the cartridge is a pain. The only place for that tap is the scrap bin. If a customer supplies one, I give them a stern warning.
Hi need your advice my combi boiler unit is on (3 port valve connection) but no hot water in my shower and taps and my pump there is a leak from shaft seal Thanks
Really helpful video thanks! How much of an issue is a leaking tap in terms of water waste? Ours seems to drip from the base when used and then occasionally when other tapware in the house is turned on. We are hoping to renovate our kitchen in a year or so and wondered if it would be ok to wait to install a new good quality tap then?
Mine leaks and I was going to look through your video's to see if you had one on how to fix it, you must have read my mind lol, i'll not bother now and get it replaced instead.
Thanks. My tap has served me for 16 years so probably time to replace. However, not looking forward to replacing it myself, the place might get flooded :-).
Great video! Could I ask a question..our kitchen mixer tap seems to be leaking from the very base (ie where the chrome sits on the countertop) and not just from the base of the spout. Do you think this can be fixed by replacing the o-rings and/or the tap cartridges, or should I be looking for something else? Many thanks in advance!
Hi Dereton. Can you tell me plz how to stop dropping tap. It has slim lever handles and it's the right lever. If I push it back v tight it stops for a while but then starts dropping again.
@GLOBALIZED WORLD Isaac Newton sorted it out 300 years ago. It's called gravity. The leak is above and the back or thrust nut and running down the threaded bar and dripping off. OUCH! An apple just dropped on mi bonce. Damn that Isaac Newton!
I realise you know your trade but it seems really excessive and wasteful to renew a complete tap for just a tiny leak. Do these taps get re-cycled with all new washers or do they just get dumped?
I swear you almost have me believing I could do this stuff! (Oh, but I know better -- that's why I'm smart enough to hire folks like you who CAN!) And your Surf California 1964 T-shirt is bitchin', as we would say here in Cali in 2020!
Hi Al,. Do you remember the tap you fitted a while ago, the one with the pull-out hose? Just ordered one and the price has now gone down to 40 quid. How's yours holding up?
Long before finding this video I struggled a couple times with stopping that small (BUT HUGELY IRRITATING TO THE WIFE) leak. No such luck. Rather than torque those sleeves to death I went to good old RUclips and searched and entered a lot until I arrived here. I went down from the top and found a hard plastic, thin white ring with a break but larger than the one in the repair kit. All together, NOPE, leak still there. Going to hit the 3 stores in town to buy a full replacement.

You are welcome!
Glad you're well and this channel still going strong 💪 Still watching from Philippines 😊
Thanks Peter
Thank you! After watching your great video, my Tap will be replaced.
You're welcome!
I love seeing how they construct the taps. Very informative. Thank you 😊
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching.
Hi, excellent video. I couldn't figure out how to get the swivel part off, but your video answered that! Cheers
Glad it helped
A very helpful video. Yep, getting the correct O rings is probably impossible. Thanks for the great tip.
You're welcome!
Thank you dereton33 for the good advice. An alternative material to the rubber sealing rings/washers would be good 😁
Hemp and boss white

Good advice Loafer. Keep well mate.
Awesome helpful video. Saves me heaps of time and frustration 🥳
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much! Followed your instructions, replaced the tap myself! :-)
Excellent!
Thankyou you answered my qs
What's best to do ..buy a new one 😊
Your local plumbing store as they will advise you on the best quality and if you need low pressure taps.
Hi need your advice my combi boiler unit is on (3 port valve connection) but no hot water in my shower and taps and my pump there is a leak from shaft seal Thanks
Get a Gas safe engineer, you are not allowed to touch the innards of a combi boiler.

Not that much wait until your new kitchen is fitted.
THANK YOU SO MUCH I WILL NOW GO AND BUY NEW TAP
Best be t Jo.

Done this one just in time then. Ha ha.
I also have a leak that I was wondering how to fix! Thanks for the video, now I know to just get a new one :)
Thanks again for great insight to replacing these types of taps.
Our pleasure!
I suppose with the higher priced taps, the seals would be easier to get and replace. Or are they for the skip too once they fail?
Only if you cant find the seals.
Brilliant time saver , WAY Easier solution makes sense 2ME
That`s great.
Good information, thanks 😊
No problem.
For some reason that chrome cap that allows access to the cartridge just turns and turns on mine but doesn't actually unscrew, help !!!
O dear it sounds like the thread is gone, you may have to replace the tap.
Good info, thank you
No problem!

I have a Grohe tap and a replacement Grohe costs about EUR 100,-! Didn't know there were so expensive.
Good luck with it.
The plumber fixed my leak of my pump, but hot water not much hot. i need your advice why my hot not give much ? what is the problem?
Three way valve or sludge in the system.
Thank you GODBLESS!

A new tap if it is there.
Hi my friend your videos are great keep up the great work thankyou
Thanks so much
How long should a tap actually last? Ours is Phoenix x, and was new when we bought the house, but that was only 4 years ago!
Usually about 10 years.

Hi Pat you will have to change the cartridge.
Hi al I have a leak coming from the backnut how can I fix this thanks al
Not worth the hassle to fix best to change the tap.
@@dereton33 thanks al still working towards nvq soon still learning hope you are well. I'd get brass backnuts to for new taps. Cheers al

Just dumped.
"Made by our usual friends in China..." floored lol
What`s not made in China.

Glad you like the shirt, I cant wait to get back there one day.
Thank you, very useful info.

Hi Al,. Do you remember the tap you fitted a while ago, the one with the pull-out hose? Just ordered one and the price has now gone down to 40 quid. How's yours holding up?
Hi Cliff, pleased to say it is still working just fine, I use the spray function a lot on greasy dishes.
@@dereton33 Glad to hear that Al. Mine should arrive sometime this week.
Hi..can I ask where you got the pull out hose tap from? Thnx
I'm sure other people have noticed .
Modern Taps have too many rubber seals that always leak and can't be replaced.
About right there.
I find taps are so cheap to buy now days that repairs are not worth doing 👍
Yes I feel the same PB.

The only way sometimes.
Deeply depressing - the throwaway society!
Shocking really.
Too much palava. Just replace as you recommended
I agree.
