    5:10 - Blockhead asked, Harley Davidson delivered :D 117 finally

  • @eddietheloggie
    @eddietheloggie 5 лет назад +13

    Well, I love it. So much so that I've paid my deposit already. Can't take delivery until I return to UK in 2021 but I'm not going to miss out this time like I did with the original Lowrider S.
    Stuff already ordered for mine:
    1. Stage 3 to 117ci , with Bassani 2:1 road Rage Exhaust, FP3 and Arlen Ness Velocity 65 Air Cleaner Kit.
    2. Biltwell Murdock 8" Pullback risers. Keeping the bars stock.
    3. Saddlemen Step up Seat and pillion pegs.
    4. Kahuna collection grips and pegs all round with heated handlebar grips (I ride in the UK).
    5. Rear end tidy up, new integrated indicator / running lights / brake light to get rid of the horrible rear butt light.
    5b. Side mounted license plate holder.
    5c. Possibly will need a new rear fender as removing light and license plate holder may leave holes in the fender.
    6. Replace front indicator with integrated LED running lights / indicators.
    7. Flip the mirrors to under the bars.
    8. Flush mounted fuel caps.
    Then I'm still undecided about the tank, I'm not 100% sold on the graphics. I'm considering respraying it denim black, if I do that I'll get a brass and black HD tank emblem . Then of course if the tank is denim black I'm probably going to have to get the fenders sprayed denim black too. Still not sure on this one as the graphics are growing on me little by little.
    It's a long time to 2021 and I can hardly wait, so I'll just have to ride vicariously via your videos. But I'm not going to miss out again, this bike is mine, deposit already down with Sykes HD of Lewes UK (thanks to Motonewbrider).

    I love the 2020 Lowrider S. Traded in my 2018 Slim. Bike feels lighters, faster, better in the corners. I’m getting use to no floor boards. The bike feels sportier and fits my 5’7” frame. I will make some mods soon

  • @rayk7612

    I bought a leftover 2020 Barracuda Silver Low Rider S today with 229 miles on the clock. I ordered a Buffalo T-bar for greater pullback, a 2-in-1 pipe and Stage 1 tune. I love the Low Rider S but it was a tough choice between the new Indian Chief bobber, Street Bob 114 or Heritage Classic. Gainesville HD gave me a good deal and it made all the difference plus their parts person, Nicole, was super helpful.

    I'm not liking that tank on it. The rear brake and indicators, aren't that great looking either.
    I don't understand why HD doesn't give more custom options when purchasing. For example, choice of seat and bars, and controls. When you buy an HD, you shouldn't have to turn around right away and spend over a thousand dollars to make the bike fit a the rider who purchased it.

    Nice bike indeed. I was considering making the Low Rider S my next Harley. Decided to get out of the Touring line (2018 Street Glide Special). Get something more nimble and lightweight with the ability to still do long distance multi day trips in relative comfort. I decided to test ride the Sport Glide and the decision was easy for me. Picked up my Midnight Blue 2019 Sport Glide on Monday. With the 2020's coming out they knocked $2500 off MSRP for model year closeout. Bonus. Over 400 miles on it so far. Hard bags, Cruise control, forward controls, inverted forks, and the Milwaukee 8 on the new softail chassis. Winning combination. Will have the 1000 mile service done on this awesome machine on Friday. Also got the stage 2 torque kit scheduled for October 8th.
    Couldn't be more satisfied with my decision. For me and my style of riding the Sport Glide checks all the right boxes.
    We also have a 2018 Heritage Classic in our Garage. My wife's. Currently just under 10,000 miles. Another awesome long distance option.
    I'm certain the Low Rider S will do well. Just not for me.
    Great review Block and Ana.

      They were closing on a house and Seminole might be closer now! All in all sometimes HD dealerships piss people off especially for me. went in dropped a carb off for work, came back two weeks later and all they did was throw it in a box. Guy said they worked on it but they didn’t. Haven’t gone back in 10 years and now that Al Muths is gone it’s the only one around. Good thing I’m learning to do things on my own

    Thanks Block. Glad to hear your thoughts and comparisons to the Dyna LRS. This new one is slowly growing on me. I think it's the reduced rake angle that is keeping me from loving the looks of this new one. Appreciate you jumping on a ride video for us. Agree, the 117 would have been awesome.

    I like the bike; however, I don't like the bulky analog gauges on the tank. Would've had a cleaner line I think without that. Also, I agree the taillight is obnoxiously large sticking off the butt. I still think the sport glide is your next bike.

    I had the opportunity to ride to 2020 Lowrider S this past Saturday as part of the Demo Days Trailer (along with a few other bikes) and I was properly BLOWN AWAY by this bike! If I didn't just buy a new bike last year I would have been signing paperwork that day.
    Very responsive and powerful bike that just gives you a "roller coaster ride" feeling, and Its set up form the factory about 95% the way I would want it. The only thing I would change is to give it forward controls and a better looking seat.

  • @sumyonguy
    @sumyonguy 5 лет назад +40

    why are the bars, 80% of the discussion of the bike? Seriously...bars, seat, controls are all changed anyway to the rider...what about the ride? Braking? Shifting? Heat? etc...got nothing from this video. Sorry Block.

    • @ThePikmin18
      @ThePikmin18 5 лет назад +1

      RichardGergely its the same freaking bike every time. Harley hasn’t redefined anything forever iirc

    • @sumyonguy
      @sumyonguy 5 лет назад +3

      @@ThePikmin18 This ones got a 16" rear compared to dyna 17", 2 degrees shorter rake and a whopping 114 engine. Dual disk brakes and inverted forks. Lots to compare...even to the lowrider 2020. Considering he had the last lowrider special...Block should have a lot to say about the differences. He's got the most experience of the two bikes. Instead...we get the opinion of a less experienced rider (judging by the way she drags her feet when coming to a stop) who never owned a harley. Am I being a little harsh? Yes I think so...and I make no reservation about it. I stopped following when he sold the Lowrider S. Was expecting something more from this video. I would say Harley has indeed redefined their bikes. New Chasis and motor certainly qualifies by definition.

    • @Texarmageddon

    Makes a Streetbob better value, apart from the 114 I see no reason to change, same position footpegs that the Bob has and most want to move them forward as they feel cramped, with the Bob's higher bars this is not so bad. Bob rear guard and lights setup would be better looking on it. Nice job on the review.

    • @mojomanmurph1925
      @mojomanmurph1925 5 лет назад +1

      They are better, far better. Seen folks getting 130,000+ out of them. Most any new motorcycle, from any manufacturer, you buy will today is better quality than past. Just follow the service guide for scheduled maintenance and you should get your money's worth. You start mucking around with the engine with different parts and who knows what will happen.

  • @drainmonkeys385
    @drainmonkeys385 4 года назад

    Question for experienced riders..... do any of you feel like you have more natural control when your turning one direction vs another?... if you are doing a you turn, or want to completely drive in a circle, would your instinct be to turn in the direction opposite of your strong hand...if you are right handed, do you feel more in control turning to the left? Or vice versa?

  • @Love4boost

    I like the setup of the new low rider s. The risers just make it so easy to just buy some jp cycles 10” risers and a bigger fairing. The look would be perfect at that point. Then just stage 1 and probably put the regular low rider seat on it. That is what I like about a bike like that. You spend the extra premium but like $1k in mods and be happy with it for a long time. That’s why I bought my 18 street glide special. I love it stock and didn’t have to change anything but the slip ons. I really wanted to Change the bars because I was so used to ape hangers from the street bob. But now that I’ve had it almost a year I’m pretty comfortable with it and don’t think about it at all unless I’m on the highway for a long period of time. Chest height bars are just easier on the wrists for long highway rides imo

  • @1Kenpoman

    I agree with you about the 117! If Harley had made the FXDR and the Low Rider S a 117 they would have many more customers for those bikes, including me.

    • @mrvwbug4423
      @mrvwbug4423 5 лет назад +1

      The LRS is going to sell a ton just because it's the LRS. I've seen more FXDRs than expected, given the bike's very divisive looks (you either love or hate the FXDR). Handling wise the Fat Bob is still the best handling of the new Softails, the FXDR handles decently for a 240 rear, but you still need to shove those bars pretty good. The LRS would be the best handling if it had better peg clearance, it scrapes way too soon.

  • @stonewp
    @stonewp 5 лет назад

    It’s a nice looking bike, but after riding it, I prefer the Fat Bob. The seating and bar position doesn’t lend itself to be ridden as hard and aggressively as the Fat Bob. The Low Rider S is still one of my favorite Harley’s though.

    Only thing I’m interested in is . As it comes from the Harley dealer is it as good as the DYNA lower s It looks good I’m really not a fan of the new soft tail Harley’s and before you ask I’ve not rode one yet. don’t want too. They all look a bit cheep My Harley is a 1% club bike And the new bikes aren’t the club image the DYNA is probably used as a club bike more than most. And you don’t have to mod it . But every one does well it’s a Harley so we never stop altering our bikes. Do we. It’s amazing Harley’s new suspension has been on Yamaha dirt dirt bikes since 1975 well it’s new to Harley anyway. Twinshock spoke wheels for me every time .

    Maybe next time take out a Softail Slim in black denim to compare to the Low Rider S.

      I traded my 2018 Slim for the Lowrider S. I think the Lowrider S has a better ride. Both are good bikes, but I prefer the Lowrider S.

    3 inches difference can be significant, but for this bike....hmmm would it be that better performance wise?

    117ci, would be cool, but then you would be spending more on the upgrade, right?

    #BLOCKHEAD I just bought a 2020 Harley Low Rider S and I love it. But (always a but, haha) the handle bars ... do you believe that the handle bars on the regular Low Rider would fit on the 2020 LRS and be more comfortable for long distance travel ? The bars that are stock on the 2020 LRS get tiring on my arms after riding for a while.

    Serious question. Has anybody ever ridden a brand new Harley Davidson and thought to themselves, yep, they’ve nailed this one, wouldn’t change a thing?

    • @redrider0151
      @redrider0151 5 лет назад +1

      I have never ridden ANY bike and thought that.....thats what makes us motorcyclists...we all pretty much are individuals that wanna separate from the norm. I donthtink I have ever owned ANYTHING in my entire life that had a motor that I didnt start to modify in some way shape or form....hell I even throw stickers on my lawn mower!! LOLZ

      @broncocarter439 5 лет назад

      RedRider0151 I get that. What I mean is, buy a brand new bike, but change the bars, the seat, Stage 1 etc? Just to get it comfortable and sound good? I heard a dealer once say the reason H-D’s were so underpowered was so they wouldn’t scare off new riders. But nearly every rider who buys one spends an extra 2 to 5 grand on one before they’ve left the showroom. They have an engine that can put out 110 foot pounds of torque. Stage 4 puts the hp over 120 up from 75ish. Why not release the bike with that power as standard. They’ll lose some money on the aftermarket but sell a shitload more bikes, because they’ll finally have the power to compete with the Harley copies.

      @@broncocarter439 This is their business model....I dont ever see them swaying from it, which is why business is so bad for them now. It used to be you had to go to a dealer and ORDER your bike and you wouldnt get it for MONTHS...and then would dump another 5 grand in aftermarket in order to get it the way you like it. With new riders, they arent brand loyal like Harley riders of 15-20 years ago...so this is why they are in a hurt locker now. I am not saying its right...but thats what their entire history is. I have a Ducati Panigale 1199R that is LIGHT YEARS ahead of anything that Harley will EVER develop...and yet I still poured 5 grand into it also.. :-P Some of it is just the nature of the beast. I am guessing they have warehouses full of extra parts that they just throw on new models so that they can get rid of the inventory and KNOW that riders will be removing the parts and paying for the upgrades. I mean that tail light on the new lowrider S HAS to be from 1960...AMIRIGHT!!!! :D

      Michael Burnside It makes it hard to justify the cost of a new Harley when you compare it to even a Z900 that cost less than half with more power. But there is something about them. Personally I really liked the Sportglide. But I can get a Twin Cam 88 or 96 Superglide for half the price. Not as grunty as the M8 but still... it’s a Harley. That’s the dilemma. Does the heart rule the head?

    • @broncocarter439
      @broncocarter439 5 лет назад

      RedRider0151 It’s amazing some of the decision they make. When the M8 Softails came out the Fat Bob 114 was the sportiest. Yet they put forward controls on. The Street Bob would have felt the cruisest but for the mids that cramped you up. And the Lowrider bars... If they just used a little bit of common sense they could have hit them out of the park. Don’t know about the new Lowrider S. Those who had the Dyna version will find fault with it because it’s not exclusive enough. They’d have sold by the truckload to the SOA fanboys if they’d only thought of it ten years ago.

    Would you rather to get the lowrider or the lowrider S? Also have you heard of any new issues when it come to the M8? I test drove both of them and I honestly like the lowrider more than the S but at the same time I like having the bigger engine and the blacked out look so I’m still not sure what to get!!!! I’m 5”11 and the low rider is a lot more comfortable compared to the S, my payment would be around 230 and 275 for the S

    There's nothing wrong with the footpegs. The seat is far too low as HDs are all about beginners getting their knees on the ground at stop signs.
